Two operatives. One impossible rescue. A connection neither saw coming.

Mara Lennox built L'Abri Sûr to save people no one else would come for. She's extracted trafficking survivors from impossible situations for nine years, and she's never looked back. Never second-guessed. Never gotten personally involved.

Until him.

Logan "Steele" Reed has spent two decades following orders, executing the mission, and never questioning the cost. He's never needed anything beyond the next operation.

Until her.

When their separate missions collide in Mosul, neither expects the sparks—or the problems. When Logan is taken hostage while helping her escape, Mara breaks every rule to go back for him. With help from old friends and new allies, Shadow Veil risks everything to bring him home.

That should have been the end of it. A successful extraction. Two professionals going back to their separate lives.

But fate has other plans.

A sinister force is out for revenge. While Logan and Mara navigate their newfound attraction across state lines and conflicting schedules, the enemy they left behind in Mosul is hunting them both. And this time, the mission isn't just professional.

Some people are worth breaking every rule for.

Heart-pounding action and undeniable chemistry!

This story grabbed me from the first chapter. The tactical details felt authentic, and the tension between Logan and Mara was electric. I loved how Chrislyn balanced the intensity of the mission with the developing emotional bond. It’s a fast-paced, high-stakes read that I couldn't put down.
