Isobel is on the hunt for her missing muse. What she finds instead is an abandoned toddler who is sunburned and close to death. Dr Liam Brigham keeps little Mia alive, but needs Isobel to save the girl from a far greater danger--a killer with an agenda for kidnapping. With Mia's life next in line, Isobel and Liam have to put aside their differences, face their past and throw their trust at the only One able to save.
Dianne J. Wilson writes across genres including YA Fantasy and Romantic Suspense. Weaving Invisible into words, she explores spiritual truth woven through ordinary life with equal dashes of breathless adventure and tongue-in-cheek humor, all soaked in God's Grace. She writes in stolen moments, usually in the back seat of her tiny car.
Her home is in Makhanda, a South African university town, where she lives with her hubby and three daughters who all take turns at being home. Her love-language is tea and taking long drives to listen to new songs with her girls. When she’s not stuck in her car writing, you can find her feeding all the hungry people in her house who gaze at her expectantly around mealtimes.
Finding Mia is a sweet book of love changing it all, courage and redemption.
It’s not only about finding but also about being found by God.
You meet this broken Isobel who has a very difficult past to deal with. She’s tried to bury her pain but God has a better idea in mind: instead of running from it, let’s face it together until it’s finally healed.
She meets Mia who takes hold of her heart and a crazy journey begins.
I was specially touched by the scripture the author uses to confront Isobel:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
I read it and had to stop and think about it for a while.
It’s so powerful! No matter how great the darkness is, it can’t overcome Jesus’ light. It will try, oh, it will! But not matter how hard, it won’t be able to.
That’s a truth this book tries to picture and I think it does a good job.
Thanks to Pelican Group for providing me an ARC for an honest review.
A seaside town, an abandoned toddler, and an artist running from her past: This story had been on my to-be-read list from the first time I heard of it. Author Dianne J. Wilson did not let me down, as the lead characters, especially tiny Mia, entwined themselves in my heartstrings. Dr. Liam remained a bit of a mystery through much of the story, but his actions showed his character. Isobel’s secrets colored her reactions, sometimes with scary consequences, and that kept me reading through all the twists and turns. I was given a pdf copy of Finding Mia by the author in exchange for my honest opinion, which is that Finding Mia is an entertaining story and earns four stars.
Finding Mia is a wonderful Christian suspense/romance. The author has a fantastic writing style and I fell in love with the characters. People often say they could not put the book down, I can truly say this was the case with Finding Mia. I was captured from page one to the conclusion. If you enjoy a good clean suspenseful read this is a book you really want to read. Wish I could give it more than five stars! I received an ARC for this honest review. I look forward to reading more by this author. My thanks to Pelican Book group.
What an awesome Christian suspense with romance read! Isabel finds herself and God while taking care of an endangered child. I loved this book because of the author's style of writing. Her characters are strong and lovable. This is one of those books you can't put down. I highly recommend this book and this author. Thank you, Pelican Group for giving me this ARC for an honest review, it is diffently worth more than 5 stars.
Finding Mia was a delightful, heartwarming story of a woman who goes to the beach to find inspiration and finds so much more.I loved Ms. Wilson's way of painting pictures with her words that placed me squarely in the middle of the story. A little suspense, a little romance, and a whole lot of love. I was pleased to read and review this book for the author.
Oh, my WORD! From beginning to end, this book had me engrossed. I stayed up WAY too late finishing it last night (well, this morning.)
Isobel Carter is an artist who hasn't been able to create in nearly 10 years. In search of her muse, she takes her canvas and paints to the beach thinking that painting the sunset would surely jumpstart her creative juices. Instead what she finds, is a severely sunburned toddler tied to a piece of driftwood. She rescues the little girl, and rushes her to the local ER, where she encounters suspicion, and Dr. Liam Brigham.
Dr. Liam is one of the best pediatricians in Scottsburgh, South Africa. When a little girl is brought in, near death, his internal radar for trouble kicks in. There has been a recent pattern of young, single mothers apparently committing suicide, and their children then disappearing once they are placed with Children's Services. The way this girl was tied to the driftwood suggests a botched pick-up. How can he protect her when the agency tasked with protective custody appears to be anything but protective?
Desperate to save little Mia, Liam takes her to her rescuer, Isobel, and basically forces her to keep her. He has no idea of the demons Isobel fights regarding children in general. All he knows is, as a newcomer to town and a concerned citizen, she is a safe place for Mia while he and his friend, Detective Nass, work to ferret out the child traffickers.
As danger stalks Isobel and Mia, can Liam keep them safe? The more time he spends with them, the more he realizes that his heart is just as endangered as the little girl is. Will Liam and Isobel be able to keep Mia out of the clutches of those who seek to steal her?
I guarantee that once you start this book, you will NOT be able to put it down! Both main characters come into the relationship with damaged hearts, grieving unimaginable losses, but both are willing to do what is needed to protect a little girl. Readers of romantic suspense will find a new author to add to their favorites list. With themes of redemption and Jesus Rescues, this story sucked me in and held me until the very end. I absolutely recommend!!
This is a haunting yet will written book on the horrors of child trafficking. Once I started, it was hard to put down. I had to see what happened next. Isobel was running from the pain in her past that had kept her from painting. She finds an abandoned child and is swept into a life she wanted nothing to do with. As she becomes little Mia's protector from an unknown evil, she thrown into a battle she did not want to a part of. With the help of the doctor how treated Mia for a severe sunburn and another artist she meets, Isobel is able to find her art again and some of her brokenness starts to heal. She finds out that not only was she running from that brokenness and past pain, she was running from God. He was with her the whole time and it look Liam, the doctor, and little Mia to show her that he was right there ready to help her heal and pick up the pieces and feel whole again. Come on this bumpy journey to healing and finding a family she did not know she needed by this wonderful author. Dianna J. Wilson. I highly recommend this book. I received a copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
This is the second book by Dianne J Wilson I've read and both have been wonderful ! The characters and story drew me in with the first paragraph and from there it was a ride filled with emotions, action, sweet romance, friendship, growth and change. This story shows a deep knowledge of the heart of God for His children. As I read I felt that I was wandering around South Africa watching Isobel's broken heart shatter even more then begin to come back together so she could come out of the darkness and in to the light.
This story touched my heart in so many ways. The sorrow and pain that is revealed in the hurts that others have inflicted on the characters are hard to read. But this story is one that deals with events that are really happening in our world. The terrors that many go through are something we need to be aware of and guard against such evil. This is a very good story and I am so glad I read this!
2nd book from Dianne J Wilson that I’ve read….really enjoy the characters she’s fleshed out with their unique flaws and charm. Mia was like little David fighting a giant! Loved the art interspersed with a dab of beach, pure evil and a wolf in sheep’s clothes. The portrait coming to life blazing with light and fury and love! All I can say is this was a winner of a novel to me. Meaningful on many levels.
Finding Mia is a beautiful mix of suspense, God’s love and people working through their hurt. I couldn’t put it down! A blessing and entertainment rolled into one!!

Artist Isobel was trying to feel moved to put something on the canvas but couldn't seem to come up with anything when she hears what she believes to be an injured animal. Upon locating the source she is astounded to find a toddler, severely sunburned. scooping the child up trying not to cause her further discomfort she heads to the closest doctor. Where both are drawn to the precious toddler's life and safety.
A Christian Romantic Suspense novel from an author the uses her words to paint a scene for the reader to make them feel they are in the middle of the story themselves. From the very beginning you are drawn in with characters and they emotions they evoking the reader. You will not want to put this book down. The plot is well thought out and moves at a quick pace. The passing of time is irrelevant. The reader will fall into this suspenseful story looking for answers.
Ms. Wilson is a talented author that provides us with a novel that is clean, christian based and grips your heart. Ability like that is rare and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars. I will recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romances, mysteries or Christian fiction.
