The final chapter in the Pleasures series ends with Spring. This is the perfect name for this 3.5 star book.  Spring is for new beginnings. The hardships of winter is over and a clean slate is ready for life to begin anew. For Roz Spring, this is her time. She's starting fresh after a horrific witnessing of a brutal murder. She is going legit and avoids cons. She's also leaving her lucrative professional dominatrix job aside. She tries to stay off the radar because not only is a killer searching for her, but her mother's side of the family too. They hired a security firm to find her. Hot on her tail is Andy McTavish, one of the security firm's top agents.

This story is wonderfully rich in character. Roz is a female lead who's a fighter. Despite the disadvantages she's suffered, she's still loyal and takes care of her own. She's not without flaw which makes her a more interesting character. Ms. Hunter does a lovely job of creating an anti-hero in Roz. Roz could come across as a damsel in distress. Make no mistakes, she is not. Andy tries to rescue her several times. Each time he fails miserably because he is a white knight on a quest to save a princess who needs no saving. He wants to ride in to save the day. He constantly wants to make things better for Roz. What he doesn't understand at first, is that Roz is used to depending on no one. She doesn't need to be saved. She needs just needs to be supported and cherished.

This story is one which is rather sad. Because at the heart of it, it's about relationships and how people can disappoint. It also shows how bonds through family and friendship can counteract the disappointment. Roz's relationship with her mother's family is at best strained and at worst homicidal. It's interesting to see the two sides of a story and find that they are so different. When Roz finally confronts her mother's side of the family, it's not as she imagined or expected. This searching for a connection will speak to readers who are estranged from their family.

This story is more than just a chick flick of family drama. The reader is offered a front row seat to Roz and Andy's long overdue mating dance. The sexual tension between these two characters is fun and feisty. Both characters are used to calling the shots, especially from a Top perspective. Andy fully expects Roz to yield to his authority. Why Andy thinks this will happen when he knows Roz's professional domme gig is beyond me. When Roz flips Andy a couple of times, the sparks fly and it's great fun to watch. The BDSM in this story is lighter than the last. There is less erotica and more romance. It's sweet because Roz doesn't need the erotic stroking. What feeds her soul is to feel wanted and cherished. Her desire to belong is so strong, at times it's painful to witness when she's excluded and feeling left out. I like how Ms. Hunter does not let Roz become a pitiful wallflower. Instead, Roz takes back the power and turns all the men upside down with her confident sexuality. It's alluring and men gravitate towards her.

This story does move in a good pace. The threads from previous books are all nicely brought together in this one. The conflicts are believable and resolved in an acceptable manner. I can definitely see all four of these books made into a mini-series TV show. The places in this story are well described and the people memorable. This contemporary romance is recommended to erotic readers who enjoy a bit of kink.

The Pleasures of Spring (Pleasures #4) by Evie Hunter is a humorous, action filled romp filled with tasteful sex with hints of lite BDSM scenes.

Ros Spring is a twin, whose fate has her raised by her deadbeat, con-man father. She’s resilient, cunning and a survivor, she’s also a witness to a murder. Andy McTavish has been searching for Ros for some time, his mission get her into protective custody, and compounding his efforts is Hall an ex-navy seal, and assassin hot on Ros’s trail.

The story follows Ros’s adventures as she tries to evade those after her; raise the money her father owes, hoping to keep him safe once he’s released from prison, and plot her revenge on the O’Sullivan side of the family, who had raised her sister Sinead. As fate would have it Ros and Andy’s paths cross, and while Andy is protecting her, he plots a scheme to fool his parents into thinking Ros is his fiancé. One thing leads to another, and Andy and Ros actually fall in love.

The storyline has multiple threads (scams, shoot outs, horse racing, movie stars, multiple romances and plenty of kink ), and just enough character development so the reader doesn’t lose interest, and can believe in the characters. The book has some great humor, including several colorful text chats, hot sex scenes ( the dream scene was the best I think), and some good chemistry between Andy and Ros.

I found that I liked Ros’s character in the beginning of the book more, when she was more snarkly, devious and cunning, then the character she portrayed at Lough Darra with Andy and his parents. I also felt the story line bogged down, there were sections when much of the story was tied together with sex scenes, vs actually exploring, developing or expanding the overall plot. There were also parts that seemed rushed, and the father thread was left un-resolved in my opinion. Magically for the reader most of the threads are resolved by the end of the book, and there is a happy HEA.

The writing of the book was good, it does contain regional language (British/Irish English), slang, and idioms. Being honest I did enjoy the humor and the sex in the story, more than the various plot lines – it would have been perfect if it had one good (maybe two), strong plot lines, the humor, and sex scenes supportive of the storyline.

All in All a 3.75 star read for me.

I received this book from NetGalley, for Penguin Books (UK),Penguin Ireland, with expected Pub Date Apr 24 2014 for an honest review.

Roz Spring is a lead female character not to be trifled with. Roz is a physically fit, smart, head strong and skilled con artist who knows how to take care of herself. However, she is not so stubborn as to not know when to call in reinforcements and ask for help when she needs it. This is such a nice departure from many of the heroines that I have encountered lately. I have had a run of heroines who are either weak, inanely stubborn and obstinate, or just downright irritating. Any heroine who does parkour across the rooftops of buildings in central London has my respect and admiration! On top of that her yahoo email is CatO9tails. Winning!

Now we can't have a lackluster alpha to pair with our fabulous heroine can we? Heck, no and Hunter doesn't disappoint with our hero either. Andy McTavish is Irish, cheeky, self assured, darkly handsome, and determined. Well, let the fire works commence. With the email handle of Dark Rider he elicits all types of fantasy worthy scenarios that Hunter delivers on throughout this engrossing book.

There's a little something for everyone in this book. Action, intrigue, romance, steaminess, and humor are all delivered in this edition of the Pleasures series. I have not read the first 3 books, but I will now have to go back and get them. Roz and Andy have a history that I missed by reading this one as a stand alone and I am now intrigued by the stories of the characters that came before this addition to the series. This was an enjoyable read and can be read as a stand alone, but I would suggest you start from the beginning and enjoy the ride up to The Pleasure of Spring.

3.75 Hearts I was on the fence for more than half of the story not because it wasn’t good but because it was just too drawn out. I was tired of the same lines over and over. It seemed like the author(s) kept forgetting they had already told us about Roz’s poor upbringing and how she had to save her father. But the last part was fast paced and entertaining. I enjoyed the story for the most part.

A few things. Besides the constant reminder of Roz’s past the book was just a bit too long. I mean really 480 pages? It should have been cut by about 100. Andy is a interesting character but not the Dom that he claims to be. Yeah he likes control but he is more playboy/flirt than a Dom.

But this is Roz’s story and it is a good one. It closes off the series, which I guess they are doing with this book, nicely.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, wasn't very deep, but enjoyable all the same.
The characters kept each other on their toes and in turn kept the reader in stitches and gasps.
A fun read.

My rating: 4 of 5 ⭐️

A year ago Roz Spring, in the midst of one of her less than legal endeavours, was witness to a murder. Wanted by authorities as a witness and by the murderer to ensure her silence, she has been on the run every since. Of course she has been well-schooled, raised by a criminal father who is currently spending time at the tax-payers expense, when she and her twin-sister were separated at the tender age of four. Her sister raised in luxury, while Roz was hustled from place to place with barely enough to sustain her. But at least she had learned to keep a low profile, that is until a face she recognized all too well stopped her in her tracks.

For one year, Andy McTavish had been hot on the trail of one Roz O'Sullivan, sister to his boss' wife, and wanted for testimony at an important murder trial. Not many were aware that Andy came from a privileged background but had chosen a military life first, after which he had reverted to the security company he worked for now. The ultimate charmer, Andy had never been able to resist a beautiful woman, and he remembered the redhaired voluptuous beauty very well. But she isn't easy to convince of the need for protection, independent that she is.

Temporarily forced back to his homestead, Andy has no choice but to drag Roz along with him, where she is introduced to his family as his fiancee. As long as he can keep her hidden in his ancestral home, he is convinced he can keep her safe, however, Roz is not an easy woman to contain. Her resistance brings out the dominant side of him, but that seems to only stir up her rebellion.

Not used to submitting to anyone, Roz continues to fight for the upper hand, only stirring up the fire flaring between them. But with more concerns than Andy is aware of, Roz has no choice but to try and draw her own plan. As much as she feels she can't depend on other people, there are people who depend on her and she cannot let them down.

Outsmarted once again, this time Andy's heart is on the line and he is determined to find her before it is too late.

*****

Very fun, very different and surprising, but super enjoyable read!

I have read the previous books in the Pleasures Series and this book hit me as being a little different. A little lighter, and more playful. Perhaps because the sexual tension and interplay was very much secondary to the intrigue that was playing out, so much so that I felt it almost didn't qualify as erotic, but more as a romantic suspense with a hint of kink.

That is not to say it isn't a good book, it certainly is that. I very much enjoyed the characters, the interplay. The strong wills at battle with each other. But I didn't get the feeling that the characters changed a whole lot over the course of the story. Other than that they obviously fell for each other, of course.

I loved Uncle Frankie, somewhat of an irreverent type of fellow. Everyone's favorite daredevil uncle, who can't quite be tied down but has a heart of gold. Also enjoyed Andy's parents, the almost typical Lord and Lady of the manor, slightly dusty and quirky, but entirely loveable and earthy. The entire atmosphere of the story was very well painted.

The one area that fell a little short in my opinion as compared to the previous novels, as mentioned before, was the erotic aspect. There was some BDSM play, some definite heated chemistry, but not the kind of connection I was expecting.

Nevertheless, a novel with a great amount of understated humour, some decent action, a great deal of intrigue and definite - albeit reluctant - romance!

✨A sharp, spirited and seductive read!✨

The Pleasures of Spring, Evie Hunter.
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I loved the Winter and Autumn versions, somehow missed on Summer ( so many books so little time !) and was excited to get to Spring. It must be tough though, keeping up the momentum of previous books, and winter is still my favourite. This one has the same hot, erotic and steamy encounters, fabulous realistic characters but I felt the storyline let it down.
I loved Roz, its clever the way authors take people we've learned to hate/dislike and turn them around. In this book we see Roz from her own side, and its very, very different to what we'd learned of her through others eyes. She blames her sister for leaving her, when in fact no one believed there was a twin. Sad side to the story, and eventually in Autumn we learned she was right, and Roz did exist, but their dad had filled her with hatred for her mothers family, and twisted the story so that she never sought them out, but always felt the need for revenge for being abandoned. So from not liking Roz I’ve done a complete turnaround.....and was hoping everything finally work out for her. Roz is devious, on the run from a murderer who she saw killing someone in the last novel, Interpol want her as a witness too, and try to trace her but she's not keen on that idea. She's learned the only person she can lean on, depend on to keep her safe is herself. Its been a tough upbringing where she's had to do all sorts of things and live off her wits.
Andy McTavish is the security expert charged with finding her, though he'd do it anyway. From their first meeting he's been fiercely attracted to her, and she to him but they've never had a chance to act on it. He's determined to bring her in, and keeps telling himself about the golden rule – no sha gging the clients :-) Somehow though when they do finally catch up, that one gets thrown away. They are a terrific duo, hot, sensual love scenes and some sharp, funny and witty dialogue between them.
Where it fell down for me was the story line, I was fine with the “on the run” link from the last book, but the detour into the horse racing scam was just a step too far into fantasy for me. I need my fiction to at least have its roots in reality, but this...nope,. No way. You can't learn to ride in one easy session, you can't pull a champion racehorse out of thin air, even the best forger can't work those documents and pass off an untrained hack as a top champion in the making...I just felt that was something that belonged in the books of my horse mad childhood, where kids ran riding stables while staying with ancient uncles, or found racehorses abandoned that they trained in secret or held gymkhanas without any adult help.....I'm not twelve any more though, and I can't make myself believe in that scenario. I'd guessed way before what the connection was too....I'm old enough to remember Shergar – and all the jokes The kidnappers have sent a ransom note for his return, along with a leg to prove they have him...Its this part that brought the novel down from five stars for me :-(
Stars: Four, a sexy erotic read, but the storyline needs a bit too much suspension of reality for me.

I received my copy from Penguin Ireland

Once again the two authors who are Evie Hunter have provided their readers with a fun, intense, intriguing and hot story. This is the fourth book in ‘The Pleasures’ series and didn’t disappoint.

Both Roz and Andy were wonderful characters, although Roz managed to captivate me most. None of Evie Hunter’s female characters have been shrinking violets or walk-overs but Roz is in a category of her own when it comes to independence and living life according to her own rules. Her slow progression from complete self- sufficiency and deep distrust of others to acceptance of her past and her own desire to share her life with others, was wonderful and almost overshadowed Andy’s journey from playboy adventure seeker to loving lord of the manor.

Did I mention that these two characters were hot together? Well, they were. Roz is a former professional dominatrix, convinced that she hasn’t a submissive bone in her body. Yet every time Andy takes control she finds herself not only, reluctantly and after a huge internal fight, submitting but also thriving on it. Andy has the time of his life giving this independent woman what she didn’t even know she wanted and needed. As for the reader, they are the lucky beneficiaries of Roz and Andy’s hot exploration of each other.

If I had an ‘issue’ with this book it would be that it took so long to get Roz and Andy together. Apart from a short interlude early on in the story they spend a lot of time apart while Roz is trying to hide and Andy is either trying to find her or spending time with his parents. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with those parts of the story but more that the story was so much more fascinating when the two of them were together. And I don’t just mean in the biblical sense, hot as those encounters were. The way Andy and Roz spark off each other and the constant struggle between them for the upper hand was entertaining overall and panty-melting when they got to the sexy stuff.

This book has it all, adventure, danger, hot sex, angsty romance and quite a few laugh out loud moments. Not to mention two fascinating main characters as well as interesting secondary characters. I can think of quite a few less enjoyable ways to spend a spring day.

While this is the fourth book in this series it can, without any problem, be read as a stand-alone title. Having said that, all the characters from the previous three books make an appearance here and already knowing their stories would probably add to your reading enjoyment. Taking into account that the three previous books are wonderful reads in their own right I can only recommend that you read those books as well.

OMG I loved it. What a great finale to the four seasons of pleasures. Almost all of the heroes from the series have returned to make a cameo appearance, including my favorite - the dark and delicious Jack Winter. While this is a stand alone, I think it’s better if you read The Pleasures of Autumn before this one.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like Roz as a heroine. She was such a wild thing and a terrible sister to Sinead in Autumn, but as the story progressed, you got to see the other side of her. Roz has a deadbeat Dad who owes money to the Eastern European mafia. And if that wasn’t bad enough, she has a murderer on her tail who wants to make sure that she can’t testify against him. She needs to pull one last scam to get enough money save her father and go into hiding.

And that’s where we come to Andy…mmm. Did I mention Andy? I’ve been waiting for him to get his own book since he was first mentioned in The Pleasures of Summer. He’s been chasing Roz, but he’s got troubles of his own. Andy has turned his back on a life of wealth and privilege to make a name for himself in the world of international security, but his past is about to catch up with him. His parents want him to take over the running of their country estate and settle down with a nice girl.

In a line, this book is Cinderella meets the Hustle. Roz and Andy might drive each other nuts, but necessity has thrown them together. She’ll pretend to be his fiancée and in return, he’ll protect her from the bad guy. What can possibly go wrong? Quite a lot, it seems, starting with the fact that he’s a Dom, she’s a domme, and they can’t keep their hands off each other.

The sexy scenes in this book are HOT, especially the one where Andy agrees to submit to Roz. Ms Hunter certainly knows how to turn up the heat. I won’t ruin it with spoilers. Can a rich guy find love with a con-artist? Will Cinderella finally get her prince? You’ll have to read it to find out. Five scorching stars and I wish there were more seasons.

Each story has its charm. And all I can think now, how great the authors came up with title and name.

Now back to the story, this one was such a joy and warm.
I liked all the story, each time I was quite sad to part with some characters. this one felt like I didn't quite miss the characters, I wasn't eager to know about them but more focus about the two heroes.
I was more focus about how Roz would get out of the situation than about the love story. I already knew they would be together and all which was great adding with the warm and cozy, especially how they felt in love. it was quite different from the other story. it was a long chasing and feisty from both of them.

After this book, I wouldn't be surprised for another one. maybe Reilly. yep this book about Roz and Sexy Andy was unexpected for me because I thought it was the end of the series.

What a great read.
This book never has a dull moment with suspense, humour and just the right amount of kink to keep you turning the pages.
Ex Domme and thief, Roz Spring is witness to a murder. Andy McTavish is trying to get her to go into protective custody before the murderer, Ex navy seal turn bad, Hall, gets his evil hands on her. But Roz has other ideas as she tries to raise the money to help her low life dad pay off the bad guys so after he is released from prison they don't put him six feet under.

The Pleasures of Spring is book 4 in the Pleasures series by Evie Hunter. This is my first book by this author and although the book can be considered a standalone I probably would have understood all the characters and their relationships if I had started the series from the beginning.

Roz Spring is on the run. She witnessed a murder a year ago and is wanted to testify against the murder, but she knows he will kill her before that can ever happen so she has spent the past year running from the man that wants her dead and the man assigned to bring her into Interpol.

Andy McTavish can’t get the feisty red head that slipped out of his grasp a year ago out of his head. It is pure luck that he ends up in the same jewelry store in London as his assignment, but before he can turn her in she evades him again and flees to Ireland and her godfather, Fletcher, for help. Fletcher has gotten Roz a job on the movie set he is working so she can make some money while laying low.

Andy has lost his charge for the second time so when his mother calls to tell him his father had a heart attack he decides to take some time off and return to Ireland to spend time with his family. Its pure luck again that he sees a television interview about a new movie being made and spots Roz in the background. He can’t believe his luck that they are both in Ireland and this time he has a plan to keep her safe and to make sure he doesn’t lose her again.

Andy Brings Roz back to his family’s estate claiming she is his fiancée. They have also had an undeniable attraction to each other but now real feelings are coming into play. He tries to deny his feeling claiming she is just a job to him and causing Roz to run again and this time he might not be able to find her before the man that wants her dead does.

I found the first part of the book to be a little slow since the two main characters didn’t have that much interaction with one another, but enjoyed the pace once Andy brought Roz back to his parent’s house. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between the couple and am glad they got their HEA.

The book had an exciting start, but I didn’t feel a connecting with Roz right away. I gradually warmed to her, though. I quite honestly felt like I was on pins and needles the whole way through with her. I kept wondering if she was going to do the right thing, or if I was going to have to jump in and strangle her. Andy, on the other hand, I enjoyed from the start. There was a lot of funny banter between the two of them that I enjoyed, too. The characters were all well-developed, and I even developed a soft spot for Andy’s mother although her role in the story wasn’t too big.

The plot itself kept me on my toes and guessing, which I enjoyed. You get the story through both Roz and Andy’s point of view. I personally preferred Andy’s, but that’s probably because I liked him better. I do have to admit, though, that while the plot was intriguing, I never felt like I was just going to die if I didn’t find out what happened next. There were a lot of surprises along the way, however, and I liked that it was unpredictable.

There were a couple negatives for me. First, some of the fetish stuff mentioned and/or done came off as weird to me – personal preference. Second, I thought some of the actions didn’t make any sense. For example, Roz goes horse back riding right after she’s severely beaten. And, they share with Andy’s parents friends that they are engaged and staying at his parents, knowing it would be gossiped about. Why do that when you’re in hiding?

Overall, I say it just reached 4 stars for me. I definitely enjoyed it enough to want to read more from Evie. However, I’d still have to say that I prefer 50 Shades. I recommend this to erotica/BDSM fans if you like a good plot mixed in. This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

Warnings:strong language, strong sexual content (definitely not for minors), violence, and sexual assault

**Note: This review is for a DNF book

I got about halfway through this book before I had to give up. I can't tell you exactly what I didn't like though. I know I was bored. There's plenty of action though. On foot chases, car chases, chases across rooftops...all of it. But it just wasn't enough to interest me.

As it turns out, The Pleasures of Spring is Book 4 in the Pleasures series. It's entirely possible that if I had read some or all of the previous books, I might have cared more about the characters. But I've not read any of the previous books and I really had no idea what was going on.

As it was, I just didn't care about the characters and the endless subplots. There's the Dad in Jail, some kind of scam involving a horse, movie star romances, a pregnancy, a witnessed murder and a psycho ex-Navy SEAL. And there's more but isn't that enough?? It was way too much to keep up with. And for someone who hasn't read the previous novels, it was major overkill.

I didn't care for this book but I think if you've read the previous books and enjoyed them, you would probably enjoy this one too. I don't recommend starting this series with this book.

Insuperabili!

Loved it to the core

There was never a dull moment while reading it and I just wanted to keep turning the page. The story was as gripping as it was playful. I am a sucker for jolly endings and this book gave me just that. The writing is so real and detailed that it takes you into a the world of the characters.

Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls

«Sei mancato a molte parti di me», ridacchiò Roz.

At first I want to thank Penguin Ireland for the book they gave away in a Goodreads Giveaway.

The Book:

I really like the cover. It´s simple with just the authors name, the title and the water lily. The colours of the water lily and the fonts look good together- especially with the black background. As far as I can say, the quality of the book is good. It still looks like new after I´ve read it and shows no sign of use.

The story:

The story begins and ends with the point of view of Roz Spring aka Roisin Philomena O´Sullivan- Spring. But it´s not only Roz the reader gets to know. There is also Andy McTavish whose point of view changes with the one of Roz´.

Already for some time on the run, Roz finds herself back in England. There, she keeps a low profile. She is hiding- hiding from Andy McTavish and J. Darren Hall. But while Andy wants to find her to help her, Hall is looking for her for some other reason. Hall wants to kill her. He wants to kill her, because Roz witnessed him killing a man and Andy and his boss wants her to testify. But she doesn´t. Roz doesn´t want to testify. Cause that would tell Hall where she is. That would make it easier for him to find and kill her. So she´s hiding, working at places where there´s no name needed, she steels, but just from people who can afford it or are too bad to others. She´s like a female Robin Hood, although it´s still illegal.

While Roz and Andy already met before and were attracted to each other, the surprise when they met again while some jewellery is robbed, is big. Andy thinks he finally found her but when she slips away again and was chased by Hall, she goes to Ireland and works on a movie. For some reason Roz texts Andy and this becomes the start of something more. They write, they flirt and they tease each other. But both don´t want to fall for each other. Both don´t want a relationship and after Andy found her in Ireland on this movie set and got hired as well, the feelings and sexual tension get stronger.

When Hall turned up on the movie set, Andy and Roz couldn´t do anything else than run away and hide at Andy´s parents house. There, both pretend to be in love and engaged. But the more they spend time together the more they feel for each other. The problem is just that they are afraid of feeling something and think that there couldn´t be a future for them as a couple.

And then....

What do you think? I think you should read to find out what happens. Will Roz run away from Andy again and hide or will Roz and Andy find each other and have a happily ever after? Will Roz testify or is Hall going to find and kill her? What does the O´Sullivans have to do with Roz and what´s the story behind Roz´ past? Why didn´t Roz lived with her twin sister and why is her father in prison? And who is Frankie and why are there any horses in the story?

Well.... I won´t tell. You should read the book.

My opinion:

I liked the book. The story was different to some other books I´ve read and that was a nice change. In my opinion it was well written. It was easy to like the characters. I can´t complain much. I just missed something but can´t say yet what exactly. That´s why I rated it just with 4 stars

So thanks again to Penguin Ireland for giving me the book to read. Can´t wait to read the others by Evie Hunter.

First, let me say I was unaware this was part of a series when I received it as an ARC from Netgalley. My bad. After finishing, I would recommend reading the others if this catches your eye. There's a lot going on here & knowing the returning characters & their histories would have helped.
Whew...where to start. Roz Spring has a few things on her plate. She's broke, long estranged from her twin sister, trying to help her jailed father & after witnessing a murder last year, it's a toss up who will catch her first...Interpol or an ex-Navy Seal turned assassin.
But her most immediate problem is evading Andy McTavish. The big Irishman works for Moore Enterprises, an exclusive security firm run by Niall Moore whose wife Sinnead is Roz's sister. Andy tracked her down last year but before he could turn her in, she escaped. Now he's found her again just as she was pulling off her latest scam.
Unfortunately so has Darren Hall, the man hired to kill her. Back on the run, Roz flees to a movie set in Ireland to find her godfather Fletcher. Coincidentally, Andy is also there. His father had a heart attack & he's needed at their estate to help out on the farm.
I don't want to reveal too much but suffice to say a series of events will end with Roz hiding out on the farm with Andy & his parents. I think we can see where this is going & that's ok. Readers looking for an HEA can spot one a mile away & grab it for their collection. That wasn't an issue for me. What was are the number of subplots.
There are scams, shoot outs, horse racing fraud, theft, movies stars, pregnancies, multiple romances, BDSM & murder. You can get whiplash by turning the page. With so many story lines sprouting off in every direction, you end up knowing a lot of things but none of them very well.
Even the main plot concerning the relationship between Roz & Andy seems rushed & based purely on physical attraction. They have a long history so if you've read the previous books, it will probably feel more credible as there's little time for character development .
By losing a couple of the side stories (my vote goes to the horse scam & the entire "father in prison" angle), space could be devoted to fleshing out the remaining ones. Readers would be more invested in the characters if they had the time & details instead of jumping to yet another crisis, giving the whole book a smoother flow.
As it is, even the end is jam packed as all the loose ends are neatly tied & conflicts resolved. So I guess it comes down to your tastes & expectations. If you enjoyed the other books, no doubt you'll like this as well. It's a quick, fluffy read with a predictable ending which might be just what you're looking for at the end of a hard day in reality.
