After putting in 4 years of active duty with the U.S. Army, I earned an Electronic Engineering degree under the GI Bill along with several other academic achievements. Eventually I turned away from actual product designing to technical writing and computer art.

As a technical writer, I have written and authored millions of words, business proposals, white papers, service manuals, and other types of technical documentation throughout the years. I have worked for or been contracted to small companies as well as large corporations. I have also worked for various agencies of the federal government, including NASA, the Department of Energy, Social Security Administration, Department of Defense, and the Office of the President of the United States.

My latest endeavor is (military) science fiction, however, to which I always had a love for. Being involved in weaponry and aerospace projects, it only seemed natural to combine my knowledge with my first love.

Beyond Mars Crimson Fleet is the product of that unification. It is based on actual naval battles along with historical figures as well as people I have personally known. It was meant to articulate the very best and the very worse each of us is capable of.

Normally I'm a guy who just likes to hang in the rear, just listening to what other people have to say before doing anything. But something about this book caught my eye. Maybe it was the idea of making spaceships out of dolphins. I looked at the artwork, just something about it I really like. Oh, anyway be aware, there is more than one version of this book. I got the one that was printed in 2010. I'm not sure waht the diferences is but that's the one I got is with the book's hero fighting the android on the cover.

I think this a pretty good book, not a great book but pretty good one. It is as exactly what you read in the promo about it -a military science fiction book I think comparable to a Star Trek but i think a little bit better.

The book is almost action from cover to cover which I think are the best parts. Characters are very believable. The hero is a traditional one with a cuouple unique quirks that makes him very likeable. The main villian is an insane b!@#h who reminds me of one of my old girlfriends. Really nasty!

The best thing I liked about this book is that the author sequenced everything just right. On top of that, explanations of gadgets and how things work or whatever are realistic, intersting yet simplifed so as not to lose the reader.

There is also some pretty strong emotional stuff in it. It gets very sad around the end though. I got the impression this is something the author lived through himself. there is also a hinting to a sequel in another installment. If there is, I will buy it!

Excellent space saga fueled by the always present good versus evil, space battle action, seasoned traitors, corrupt officials, warped minds, and even religion based reasoning. Everything fit together like tentacles wrapping ever tighter around a squirming victim.

NOT A SPOILER: The end contained 'all or nothing' strategies put in motion by all sides of the conflict. Plenty of twists to upset the plans of all involved.

I would have rated this 2010 edition of the book 4 star material, however it was flawed by many typographical errors - mainly misplaced and misspelled words - that disrupted the flow of the story for me.

Not the best...not the worst

The story had memorable characters and it did hold together. Just.

The value of editing can never be over stated. The " spell " check of most word processing software checks spelling, not context. So it is up to the writer and/or the proof readers to make sure what ends up on the page makes sense to the reader. It is a fair story. It might even be interesting. Same with the characters. But if I, as a reader, have to go back, re read and go "oh! That's what they meant!" It is just no good.

It is a free book. Expect a free book. Nothing more.

Not bad, I'd like to read more. He needs an editor, and not just spellcheck, but someone who can read the book for all the many mistakes.

Great story

Very enjoyable story. A few typos along the way but the strong plot and action make it an enjoyable ride.
