Jax had been plotting his early retirement for months, but just as he was on the cusp of reaching his dream, the world ended. Now, instead of spending his time at a lakeside cabin fishing and doing whatever it is that retired young people do, he spends his newfound freedom fighting monsters and exploring dungeons half naked.
While wrestling a mutated wolf in a river—as one does—he is forcibly transported to a trial dungeon. There, he fights for his life and a class he never asked for. But while Jax may be many things, a quitter he is not. Beating the dungeon, he steps onto the path of the Warforged as an Ironwrought Summoner, a melee specialist with the power to summon weapons. Armed with his new class and a bottomless arsenal, he sets out on a journey to carve out a place for himself in this new world. First, though, he needs to find some clothes.
The hit LitRPG Apocalypse from Royal Road comes to amazon!
This is absurdly flimsy. The stats go up and mean little, the inheritance is useless compared to the martial background, and the conflict is just terrible. Hugely drawn out with railroaded morality. This is cheap writing at its worst.
I quit at the 21% level. Up until then I was struggling to connect with the MC and the new world. The side characters were OK but didn't act like real people. The I got to this line in the story and decided that this was just going to be a murder hobo MC which I really find is one of my least liked type of character. What line was it well..."I didn't like it, but I could see the use in killing other people. Not only did they drop items, but they gave experience and contribution points too, whereas monsters only gave experience."
This book was subpar 2/5. It feels like poor rip off of the primal hunter books just without any of the story build up or character growth both primary and secondary. The plot timeline is very lacking and makes little to no sense. Characters go zero to 100 with no time having passed. It's badly written
This author did a great job and writing a novel within the LitRPG system apocalypse subgenre, which is a formula that’s been rinsed and repeated so many times, but he does a great job at it. Action, character, description, interactions, and everything in between is done quite well making this an enjoyable read.
Warforged Summoner, book one of a Lit RPG Adventure series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Quick-witted writing and a quirky main character in Jax, who escapes spreadsheet hell for a new type of apocalyptic hell. Some things you just don't want to confront while naked. Loved the story and worldbuilding I will read on in this series, for sure.
Did not finish the book. weird way of telling a story and quotes didn't quite make sense almost seemed like a translation copy , inexperienced writeror even AI.
