I really enjoyed this book! The story was engaging and kept me reading, the characters were well rounded and different from each other, and I really like the illustrations in the book as well. It's a slower paced book, but personally it doesn't go so far to start dragging. It definitely starts picking up the pace towards the end as well. (So assuming your attention span isn't fried you'll be fine) Overall, the only things that would needed to be worked on would be the dialogue sometimes could have been refined a bit, and I came across a few typos. For people wondering about the content in it, it's completely clean, the only times where characters would have sworn (In their own language) it is simple said as "He cursed under his breath" or along those lines, it's never actually written. There is a fair amount of violence, but there's a war going on so that happens. It's never just done for shock value and does not over describe the details. Also I think the characters are going to need some therapy after what they all go through.
That being said for a debut book I quite liked it!
