Budjette Tan is the writer of the award-winning comic book TRESE, which he co-created with his partner/illustrator Kajo Baldisimo.
TRESE has been adapted into an anime series by Netflix.
He was a founding member of ALAMAT COMICS in the 1990s.
He's also the writer and co-creator of THE DEMON DUNGEON / DARK COLONY books, which he made with Bow Guerrero and JB Tapia.
He was also the co-editor of the KWENTILLION scifi/fantasy comics magazine (published by Summit), the UNDERPASS horror anthology (Summit), and SOUND: A Comic Anthology (published by Difference Engine).
The Library of the Lost felt like a story prompt. It gave us great story-building and lore, but lack the actual story to finish it.
A Higher Decision of Instinct is a great callout to socio-economical problems, political/corporate greed and our mentality to be a hive for comfort. I miss strong stories like this.
Kundiman. A masterpiece on love, tragedy, hero’s awakening and lore building. All that + mirroring the state of Filipino politics. The treachery, pain and a promise fueled by anger - damn such a state of the nation.
Nice to see the Trese siblings in action! Here, sir Budjette collaborated with John Amor to create the first chapter with Professor Rick Trese as its main protagonist who is to the rescue of their youngest sibling, Alex, who got captured. Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
For the 2nd chapter, now it’s Fr. Matt’s turn to save Manila from the underworld. I can’t get past Kamiko Nakata, which I believe is the worst written character ever in the Trese world. As a Japanese speaker, I cringe at how she speaks to Fr. Matt. I give it a rating of ⭐️⭐️. One of the worst chapters ever.
And for the last chapter, JB Tapia paid tribute to the mentors of the Verdugo, Toyang and Damiano, and here we get to know how Carlos got Parusa and Sentensiya forged by the legendary Metalero. Then from the flashback, we get to see how the blades react to Carlos’ aswang form. The best story of the Bloodlines, vol. 2: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
