It was only supposed to be a few weeks. Their hearts didn’t get the memo.
Mahika Sinha knows better than to fall for a cricketer. She’s done that once, and it cost her everything. This time, she’s keeping her distance. No risks. No attachments.
Arpit Varma isn’t interested in anything temporary. Not with a career that demands everything and a daughter who deserves stability.
But Mahika isn’t easy to ignore. And his daughter isn’t willing to let her go.
Because some people don’t walk into your life quietly. They settle in like they were always meant to be there.
Cricket Romance Single Dad Forced Proximity Teammate's sister Found family
I think i should stop 'rating' SC books, because i think everyone knows they're always five stars. Win Me Over... I think its my new favorite. Arpit needs a hug — which he gets — and everyone needs a Garima in their lives — we all could benefit from some dragons and sunshine.
This book broke me and healed me at the same time. Oh god, i dont even know how to explain this so I'll start with the premise. The premise is that Mahika's — a child psychologist — brother is a member of a cricket team. And Arpit is the captain of the said team. What starts as Mahika helping Garima, turns into something way more than 'just acquaintances'.
I read chapter one and decided that Garima was my new favorite baby. She's the real MVP of this book. Forget cupid and his arrow, here we only know Garima and her dragons.
Mahika is a psychologist. That's all I needed to know to know that I'd love her. Her personality is so older sister coded. Like, if she existed, I'd run to her for every problem. I loved her, just so much. Being a psychologist and a child psychologist at that, her interactions with Garima were soo wholesome. I loved seeing her and Gari play together and occasionally roast Arpit.
Arpit is just... the man. He's hot, okay? Both emotionally and physically too. I loved the subtle acts of caring that he did. I'll be honest, at the back of my mind, there was a thought about whether Arpit would turn out to be emotionally unavailable or not. But you know what? I've never seen a guy be so true to his emotions. The mental conflict that he constantly had because he couldn't just get together with anyone and break up later due to Garima, but he also really wanted to be together with her. I just loved knowing how his mind worked in those moments.
DID I MENTION THAT ARPIT HAS PANIC ATTACKS!? Oh, I didn't? Let me tell you then — if you're questioning why I'm screaming, I just love vulnerable men, okay — he has panic attacks and in chapter one, Garima comforts him *sobs*.
This entire book, is just a bundle of emotions, alr? So just grab a box of tissues and get reading.
Oh, and if you enjoy chapter titles, you're gonna love the chapter titles in Win Me Over — they're adorable, and possibly anxiety inducing.
On a random day, cherry says she's writing a cricket romance, and ofc we alpha readers were howling. But this woman forgot to say, IT'S ALSO SINGLE DAD!!!
First and foremost, I feel like god's favourite child for being able to read this book in its founding stages. These characters will always be special for more than countable reasons. All the characters, all the words have deep rooted themselves in my soul.
If this book was an animal, it will be a bear cub, because this book huggedy my soul, so tight and spread warmth. Even in my tears while reading the last few chapters, all I could feel is immense love for them.
Arpit- The MMC- is fictional in a very right way. Because I don't think there can be a man like him in any lifetime in the real world. The way he wanted to protect his daughter, gaurd their hearts and keep the walls up, but broke them brick by brick for Mahika is something no one can do. But him. From the page one, all I fell in love with Arpit, because the man he is!! I swear!!! He made me want to fall in love, but ngl he scared me that what if I don't find a man like him?! I don't want him if he's not like Arpit!
And now the FMC- Mahika- the quite strength of the book. She feels for others. She sees what people miss, well she is a child psychologist for a reason. She had sworn off cricketers, but well, you see arpit didn't only break his walls for her, but also broke the barrier around her heart to enter it. Mahika, is someone I would like to have as a friend. I can imagine the late night deep talks and the crazy movie marathon and everything a comfy person can do. I think many readers will see her as a comfort character too.
And now, the real star of the book- Garima!! God this cutie, I swear. She was the thread between mahi and arpit. Her love for dragons and connection with Mahi was something I won't forget easily. Even as a five year old, she lead the entire cricket team. And the epilogue, I swear the Varma chaos is something which will make you smile and feel everything good.
Pick this book up now, if you want another comfort book and characters who feel like home.
An engaging slow burn cricketer romance that felt a fresh of air amidst the usual contemporary romances. I enjoyed reading this story of Arpit, Garima and Mahika till the last page.
