This blew my mind. The detail alone in this book was so meticulous, it was incredible. There were parts of this story that you can tell came from real life experiences, and the author was writing from the heart. This was fast paced and had short chapters and knew how to keep me engaged. This book, shows what real friendship really is, and ended with a twist involving true love.

I went into Born in Bone expecting a thriller, but what I got was something heavier—in a good way. This isn’t just suspense for the sake of twists. It’s uncomfortable, quiet, and tense in a way that kind of sits with you.

The writing pulls you in fast. The opening alone is strong and unsettling, and it sets the tone for everything that follows. There’s this undercurrent of “something is wrong,” even in normal moments, and it builds really well instead of rushing.

What stood out most to me was how real the characters feel—especially Emily. Her internal world is written in a way that feels very grounded and believable, not dramatized. The dynamic between her and Beth is honestly one of the strongest parts of the book. It feels layered, complicated, and a little dangerous in a way that makes you want to keep reading.

Some scenes were genuinely hard to read—not because they’re bad, but because they’re too real. The tension in the domestic scenes is done really well. It’s not over-the-top, it’s controlled and precise, which somehow makes it hit harder.

If you’re looking for a fast, twisty thriller, this might feel slower than expected. But if you like psychological tension, character-driven stories, and that creeping feeling of “this is going to go somewhere dark,” it absolutely delivers.

Overall, this is one of those books that doesn’t just entertain—it lingers.

Renae did such a wonderful job with this story. Reading along felt like I was part of the book. 10/10 would read again. The bond between Emily and Beth is too familiar. If you want a good thriller that keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. This is is it.
