19-year-old Cooper has a plan: drive Grandpa's car from Illinois to California and earn some cash. Then Jon—his brother's best friend and Cooper's archenemy—is assigned as his unwilling babysitter. Cooper is livid. Yeah, he used to have a crush on Jon, but that was before Jon did something unforgivable.

Jon knows exactly why keeping his distance from Cooper matters. One reckless decision a year ago proved that some lines should never be crossed. Especially not with Cooper, the one person Jon would walk through fire for. He promised Cooper's family to keep him safe, but if anyone is a danger to Cooper, it's Jon himself.

When biology intervenes and things get heated, will Jon and Cooper finally admit how they really feel?

Poor Jon is fighting for his life daily with Cooper but he's exactly where he wants to be 😂 I love it! Straight away I was hooked with the perfect level of tension and if there's a bratty omega *chefs kiss* I'm sold.
The banter between the two of them was gold.

Jon crashes Cooper's solo road trip, after a year of being ignored by him. The pining of both these men is so satisfying and I loved the writing pace. There was enough tension starting the trip and it exploded at just the write time. The story focuses more on their building relationship as omega and alpha, over the actual road trip which I really liked
It kept the sole focus on them finally being together after years of push and pull.

I loved the shift when Jon started to let his walls down a little, suspecting what was happening to Cooper and himself. It's a great starter book into the omegaverse and it had all my favourite parts:
🖤 Protective alpha
🖤 Nesting
🖤 First Heat
🖤 Firsts
🖤 Needy rut
🖤 Bratty Omega
🖤 Brat tamer Alpha

My favourite scene has to be shopping for nesting supplies without Cooper knowing he's nesting 😂 I too would want a pretty lilac blanket and oh my god, the raisins ran out?! Jon to the rescue

I'm so appreciative of being an arc reader thankyou!

This was an ARC read

If you love and adore brats and grumpy sunshine couples, you will love this!

Cooper and Jon are the two MMCs and they will have you giggling and tearing your hair out at the same time....

Cooper is the definition of a Brat, he's so sweet, cheeky, and most definitely a lovable character.

Jon.....yeah I wouldn't mind Jon being my grumpy sunshine lol. He is constantly watching over Cooper, doing the whole glaring thing and threatening others.

I was really needing a lovely, light hearted story to read and this 100% filled that need, everything about this book was beautiful.

There were quite a few times throughout reading that I was actually telling Cooper to shushhh, he's so damn witty and has absolutely no filter, that's what makes him so adorable.

Everytime I see chocolate raisins...I will think of Cooper when he's in heat, oh and the monkey & fluffy nest.

Great read!!!!

I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to arc read this book. I really enjoyed this book, Cooper is such a brat with his happy go attitude and of course he fell hard for the grumpy alpha. Jon the grumpy, overprotective and caring person that he is even with his past history, he fell even harder for the sunshine bratty omega and I love it. I wish it was longer tbh would’ve loved to see how their relationship/ future turned out

Arc review for slick trip by @lucycastle_author

I have been so excited for this!! Maybe a little too excited, but when this hit my inbox I was ecstatic! Thank you @lucycastle_author for entrusting me with your work!

And yes.. it lived up to the hype!! I can’t wait for everyone to read this!

I give you cooper and Jon! Copper is heading off on a roadtrip to deliver his grandfather’s car, and coppers older brother casually asking Jon if he’d kinda look after him.

The thing is, Jon is very protective of Copper so of course you know he’s going to say yes!

But Jon’s attraction to Copper started long before the roadtrip when he had to rescue cooper from some jerk kids, because you know kids can be mean!

Copper is every bit the brat to poor Jon, he’s over here having to be the brat tamer! But it’s so hard, because Copper is creating that delicious mischief! Love a good brat, but the brat tamer is where the fun is and Jon has that.

When Cooper finally presents as an omega and Jon as an alpha.. I loved them, their shy demeanor with each other the way that they finally expressed how they were feeling about each other, it was so cute! Jon was adorable and his “ I am protecting what’s mine” thought process made me wanna hug them!

Cooper and his brattiness was adorable, especially during his heat because you clearly can tell he wants Jon, like he wants to listen to his alpha but also be a brat! And god bless Jon cause he handled that boy well! Like he knew when to put cooper in his place and when to just let him be, but ok, like the hotel scenes when cooper is going through his first heat, those scenes will live rent free. They were so sweet!

I loved them! This story is so sweet, and it’s so heartwarming and there’s spice but it’s the spice that doesn’t overpower the story and just flows right along with the book!

I need EVERYONE to pick this up when it comes out! Trust me, If you’re new to the omegaverse this is the perfect place to start!

-"I'm not threatening your random pile of fabric"
-"Undying devotion is the bare minimum for a relationship with me"
-"You wanted consequences, brat? Congratulations. You've earned them"

This is first book I have read from Lucy Castle and it was a fun trip. I love Cooper's personality and how Jon is a secret softy with a hard exterior. Cooper was always testing the limits, but he still had fun stepping over the line. I love the dynamic these two have, but be warned they aren't great with communicating their feelings out loud. This book is very character focused and doesn't dive into much plot, but if you love high heat omegaverse romances with a unique take, a witty brat dealing with hurt from the past and a protective alpha trying to bridge the gap, then you will love this book.

Slick Trip was my introduction to omegaverse and knowing it’s an unconventional omegaverse, I had high hopes.
Was I disappointed? No. In fact, I think it’s a perfect introduction and I learned a lot.

Cooper is the cutest and funniest brat I’ve ever met, he’s such a clever person with his comments. They will make you snort. Jon is a great brat tamer, because his patience and care for Cooper is impressive. There are moments we get to see his badass side and I refuse to spoil, because you all should get to experience it firsthand yourselves.

This book is relatable in many ways, and I don't want to spoil anything but I'll give one example. Slick Trip reminds us that there's always two sides to one story. While neither side is wrong and both people’s feelings are valid, communication can solve a lot of discomfort between the two. Don’t get me wrong, what happened was written in a very interesting and intriguing way and really made us connect with both MCs, but that also meant my heart was bleeding for them both. Of course I loved every second of it!
Speaking of connecting with the MCs, this book has flashbacks that helps us further connect with them both. They’re balanced well with the right about of information. There wasn’t a single time I thought it was unnecessary, we always got more information we started to crave.

Slick Trip has a great balance between funny moments, sad and heavy topics, sweetness, caretaking, love, vulnerability, trouble, spice, and snacks. Lucy thought about everything. After a heavier conversation the light and softness came out from one of them, when things felt tough the care was there without a doubt, the spice was spicing, the consequences are delicious to read about.

I can happily confess that Slick Trip brings me so much comfort and serotonin.
I give it 5 chocolate raisins out of 5!

This was SO much fun!

Slick Trip was exactly the kind of quick, easy and ridiculously entertaining read I needed. I flew through it! Cooper and Jon had such a fun dynamic, and the banter between them was easily one of my favourite parts. Cooper is an absolute brat, Jon knows exactly how to handle him, and together they had me laughing way more than I expected😂

I really loved their chemistry too. Underneath all the teasing, bickering and spice, there is a genuinely sweet connection between them, and I loved watching that come through as the story progressed.

And the raisins😂 If you know, you know.

My only complaint is actually that I wanted more.

This is a novella, so I knew going in that it would be a shorter story, but there was such a good foundation here that I could easily have read a full-length novel about these characters. I would have loved more of the road trip, more world-building and especially more time with some of the side characters. There were little glimpses of a bigger world and relationships around Cooper and Jon that made me really curious, and I wish we’d had the space to explore them.

It almost feels unfair to call that a negative, because basically I’m complaining that I enjoyed myself so much that the book ended before I was ready to leave😂

Sweet, spicy, funny and incredibly easy to read. I had such a good time with this one, and I would happily have spent another 200 pages with Jon and Cooper.

Tropes & vibes:
🚗 Road trip

I was really looking forward to this read, it didn’t disappoint but I think there was some lacking parts I can’t not say I’m sorry!

The jumps in time during the storyline really weren’t annoying, sometimes I find them irritating and not done well but the author did a stellar job here. I loved the characters first interactions at the mall and the connection with Cooper’s brother.

The previous party scenes were a good lead up for the characters, same goes for why Cooper felt so ashamed after that last interaction with Jon upstairs. The lead up to finding out what happened in that room was done really well.

The A/B/O article right near the start of the book was super confusing and I don’t think needed. The whole political angle was a bit weird for me, I think the author could have eluded to issues amongst second genders with such a short book. I did like the full first moment with Cooper’s grandad being involved with the movement, but again I don’t think it added much and was a bit confusing to me.

I was BEGGING for more about Jon, poor thing has lived a life. I would have loved to get to know him a bit more.

Jon admitting to being in love with Cooper so easily though? Kinda lame and anticlimactic for me. I needed a bit more push and pull to be honest.

Cooper’s heat was fricken adorable, making his nests and just needing Jon was so lovely to read.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and would love to see more come of this world. Thanks for a good read!

This was a short, very good read. If you love brats
with grumpy, brat taming boyfriends, this is for you.
Do be aware that this is a non shifter omegaverse
setting, but don't let that deter you from reading this, it is very beginner friendly and honestly, I would just say hop in, go with the flow, and enjoy.

Cooper is a brat to the max and Jon just deals with it and handles it as he sees fit. He is unable to resist the charming chaos that is our beautiful Cooper, and he seems to be doing pretty well after their trip together. It might have seemed like a disaster to Cooper and Jon that they were going to be basically forced to go on this trip together, but good things came out of it and I am very happy.

Jon has his backstory and oh lordy, my poor child. I understand his thoughts and the way he thinks because of his past. I just want to say, screw those people who made him believe the things they were telling him. I am very grateful that he found jack (Cooper's older brother) when he did and that he found a family through it.

Slick trip is very sweet, cute and has spice that doesn't take away the focus from the relationship and instead flows with it. It's a good short read, and I would highly recommend it, especially if you want to ease into learning about the omegaverse.

ARC Review:

Cooper is driving his grandpa’s prized Cadillac across the country from Illinois to California to drop it off. When Cooper’s
older brother Jack asks his best friend and Cooper’s long term crush Jon to accompany Cooper for the journey.

Jon is very protective of Cooper but being stuck on a road trip with a brat who has a crush on you and loves to push your buttons. Leaving Jon to tame and bring Cooper into line but when feelings get reveled and those lines are crossed, sparks being to ignite especially when one goes into heat.

I absolutely ate this story up, I could not put this book down.

The transition from present to past was seamless and easy to understand and follow.

I loved how bratty Cooper was and all his funny and witty one liners and how perfectly Jon just rolled with the punches and handled Cooper.

I loved how protective Jon was and how safe he made Cooper feel to continue to be himself and didn’t once try to tamper down Coopers smart mouth.

The build up and tension between Jon and Cooper was amazing. I really enjoyed reading this couples story. I could read a whole series on these two that’s how much I loved their dynamic.

I am really hoping this become a series and we get to see what happens with Jack and if he finds “the one” for him.

Tropes:

Brat x Brat Tamer
Road Trip
Omegaverse
Brother’s Best Friend

I received a ARC copy of this book and am so so grateful!

This book was brilliant! An unconventional omegaverse book which was really intriguing and different.

I giggled and laughed so much at points with his book. Cooper quite frankly is a cute, chaotic, menace and Jon is a grumpy, beyond patient, and tough - a product of his horrible childhood.

Cooper wants Jon, has done since he was 15, Jon know he can't, he's too young, his best friends brother etc etc. Something happens and they stop talking... Cooper is excited to go on a road trip to take his granddads car to him but his mother puts a spanner in the works. It looks like he is going to have company...guess who!?!! We have flash backs which explain the back story further which I thought were great. These provide background information including what the 'big' deal was that made the pair 'enemies'

The back and forth banter was so good and really funny, I loved this introduction to Lucy Castle and am going to read her other books. In conclusion an easy to read funny, witty, sensitive and well written book. Thank you!

Adorable little frenemies to lovers story. For a novella, it's fully flushed with flashbacks that cover their pining frenemy foundation for a few years. And the present has a reasonable progression to lovers.

They really love and care for each other and a miscommunication a year ago is not enough to put a permanent halt to their sprouting relationship. And it's certainly not enough to stop their feelings triggering their omega and alpha presentations 😏

I really appreciated Jon's depiction of alpha and rut going beyond just wanting to breed and fight for their omega. It went deeper into his alpha caretaker feelings. He's so adorably in love with Cooper.

Oh Cooper. He's the biggest brat. And deep down just wants to be reigned in by his alpha. Resulting in the best banter throughout. And creating a great omega character that is demanding to be comfy while maintaining a sense of self.

I binged this arc so fast. I love a story with good banter, unavoidable love, and unconsciously taking care of each other. Drama that is comforting.

Cooper is unapologetically himself. He’s beautiful and he knows it. He radiates energy and love. And Cooper wants Jon, his brother’s best friend.

Jon is broody. He’s big and has tattoos and often intimates people, especially people who get too close to Cooper. You know, because he’s gotta look out for his best friend’s little brother.

When Cooper plans a road trip to take his grandpa his car, he is sure this trip is exactly what he needs. He wants to show everyone how responsible he can be and he wants to get away from Jon.

But his mom doesn’t want him to go alone and only Jon is available to go with him. This road trip includes roadside motels, diners, chocolate covered pancakes, chocolate covered raisins, and some revelations that change everything for Cooper and Jon.

I giggled through most of this book! Cooper is one of a kind. He’s a catch and he knows it! ♥️

Super cute omegaverse!

I love OV stories so I’ve been eagerly awaiting Slick Trip. The story was wonderful! Lucy Castle gives a unique spin to omegaverse, creating a world in which everyone has a secondary gender (A/B/O) but very few ever “present”.

The story follows Cooper, who has been in love with his brother’s best friend Jon for years but has been repeatedly rejected.

Jon is begged by his friend to join Cooper on a cross country trip to help keep him safe, much to Cooper’s dismay. What follows is a wonderfully fun roadtrip filled with chocolate raisins (iykyk), only one bed, adorable nesting, and an unexpected heat.

The characters were so well written - Cooper is the cutest brat, and Jon is so gone for his omega. Even though it is short, the story feels fully fleshed out. Enjoyed every bit from beginning to end. I really hope Lucy Castle writes more in this world, because this is one of the funnest omegaverses I’ve read in ages!

Slick Trip had the bones of an entertaining omegaverse romance, but unfortunately, I found it seriously lacking in plot and substance.

For me, the story basically felt like one character wanting the other, then them falling out, and eventually falling in love once the heat hits. There just wasn’t enough happening outside of the romance and the physical side of their relationship to really keep me invested.

I wanted more depth, more development between the characters, and an actual storyline that gave the book some substance. Instead, it felt like the romance was doing all the heavy lifting, and once the heat kicked in, everything seemed to move incredibly quickly.

It wasn’t terrible, and there were moments I enjoyed, but ultimately it felt more like a very short spicy scenario than a fully developed story. I just needed more from it to become genuinely invested in the characters or their relationship.

Was a very cute roller coaster of emotions book.
Cooper is such a dramatic sassy king. I love his snark and charisma. Jon is an extension of Cooper whether he likes it or not. He makes Cooper better and brings out the best in him. Of course we have a little misunderstanding. Some Miss communication you could call it. Scrap that, there honestly was no communication 😅 getting all the bits and pieces and slowly building up to what really happened the night Jon made Cooper cry, was infuriating in the best way. I was eating up all the crumbs leading me to that night and the resolution was so beautiful. Jon really pulled through and finally opened up to cooper (Poor man needs therapy) we got our happy ending. Was delightfully fluffy, spicy and chucked full of sarcasm. Was a great quick read 🥰❤️

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to ARC read Slick Trip.
This book was a cute, spicy good time! In a world where second gender hate crimes are high, concealing it means safety. But when Cooper needs to make a road trip he had plans of a freedom drive. Wrong. Enter Jon his brother's best friend. What these two get into along the way will make you laugh, gasp and fall in love with the two of them. Cooper is the sweetest, mouthiest brat and you can't help but like him. Jon is uptight and rule following but for all the best reasons. The book itself was a quicker read with good pacing and banter that keeps the pages turning. I enjoyed the book quite a bit and if you're looking for some spicy scenes on top of a cute time then I recommend this omegaverse MM romance for you!

Cooper is an unapologetic chaos gremlin of an Omega who knows exactly which buttons to push, and Jon is the grumpy, self-sacrificing Alpha who's been fighting his feelings for years. Their history is complicated and emotionally charged, and watching them trapped together in a Cadillac across Route 66 was pure fireworks. The banter made me laugh out loud, the flashbacks broke my heart, and the spice? Absolutely scorching—but always earned. I absolutely devoured this book.

If you're looking for a quick, addictive read with high heat, genuine emotion, and a satisfying HEA, this is absolutely worth picking up.

A very fun novella that can be devoured in a day. Lucy Castle's ABO world was interesting and a little unique to other omegaverse stories I read. I loved her portrayl of Cooper's hormonally fueled meltdowns leading up to his first heat. Alphas and Omegas are very rare and faced bigotry by the general public who are majorty betas.

The banter between Cooper and Jon was top tier. Jon has the patience of a saint and Cooper was a dramtic brat but never an annoying character to read. The smut was great and it was great to see both characters embrace their new secondary gender and relationship along this roadtrip!

This book was such an adorable read. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting. I love Cooper’s brattiness; he is so adorable when he doesn’t get what he wants. And Jon, with his possessiveness for Cooper, is swoon-worthy. I love how these two characters just happen to have a chance encounter when they were younger. Knowing that they got to grow up around each other and notice all the flaws that come with maturing and still wanted one another. And how they gravitate towards one another even when they were on the outs tells you that they were meant to be together. Tropes: brother’s best friend, brat/brat tamer, forced proximity, virgin mmc, and caretaking

I love a good brothers best friend romance and with the combo of OV & a road trip it was such a good read! Favourite side character award goes to Gerald, he’s a legit grandpa. This was a short, easy read Omegaverse featuring a sassy, brat Omega and his brother's best friend.
Cooper has had a crush on Jon for 4 years. After an incident that is revealed slowly with flashbacks during the first half of the book, Cooper and Jon are sworn enemies. They are forced together on a road trip where Cooper presents as an Omega and goes into heat. In this Omegaverse world, not everyone presents their secondary designation but being in the presence of an Omega they have an emotional connection to can trigger an Alpha to present too. This is exactly what happens to Jon.
There is plenty of snarky banter from both MCs along with some lovely, tender moments. This is low angst with likeable characters and a perfect palate cleanser.

Cooper is a total brat omega and he definitely needed the firm hand alpha. Jon was great about giving him what he needed. I really enjoyed the nests and even the humor of fully exhibiting omega behaviors while loudly professing not to be an omega. Ultimately I found this enjoyable. I did feel that some of the back story between these two was a little week but it didn't take away from their story in modern day.
