Absolute AI slop. The writing is terrible, repetitive and incoherent in places. For some reason not a single character uses contractions when they speak so nothing sounds genuine.
It’s a very cool premise which is never explained, expanded on or internally consistent. Just don’t waste your time.

Good but basic shallow
It has a unique world, a basic set up and basic characters. It was enjoyable though.
Don't expect some in depths book where you're constantly focused on the characters daily life and progression. While it has some of that, a lot of the book is more ...how to put it....more summary? Where it skips weeks or months of 'training' and summarizes it and the changes before going onto the next scene.
I think the book takes place over like 6-8 months and you don't get a lot of time getting to know all the side characters or even really the main character. It's just some fight scenes, goals and training.
Now that all aside, as a lite fun read. It was good, it was an interesting story. It would be good for new readers, youths or someone who just wants a casual fast read. It is like a popcorn movie flick. Not Lord of the rings depths but more summer casual blockbuster. Turn your brain off and enjoy read.
I will say, the one refreshing thing was the leadership. I've never seen a 'humanity on the edge of failing' where the elite weren't scum who were ruining it for everyone. In every series the leadership is corrupt or stupid, letting horrible things happen that the rich get away with for....greed?
Not this book. The leadership is actually worried about he people. There are consequences for the rich if they endanger the cities. The rich seem to be rich since they grow powerful and fight beasts.
Maybe corruption of certain family or organizations will be shown in the next book but in this one. It was pretty refreshing that those in power weren't utter corrupt morons. Felt a bit more realistic? Not that those in power won't be corrupt, no but that when humanity is on the edge of extinction, that people would actually wise up a bit to not get everyone killed.

A Fresh Take on Progression Fantasy
Beastforged: Bond grabbed my attention early and never really let go. The world-building is engaging without becoming overwhelming, and the magic and beast-bonding systems feel both creative and well thought out. It strikes a nice balance between action, character development, and mystery, always leaving you wanting to know what’s coming next.
The characters are believable and continue to grow throughout the story. Their relationships feel natural, and the bond between the protagonist and the beasts is one of the book’s strongest aspects. The pacing is solid, with enough twists and discoveries to keep the pages turning without feeling rushed.
If you’re a fan of progression fantasy, cultivation, LitRPG-adjacent stories, or books featuring magical companions and steady character growth, this is an easy recommendation. The ending left me excited to jump straight into the next installment.

What a marvelous read. I love, Love, LOVE this book! Adam and his Sapient Soulforged Beast Companion are som'min else! And yeah, I love Beast Companions! And if it wasn't for Aureus, Adam probably wouldn't have survived. You see Adam was broken, born wrong and unable to use ether. This is not the first book I've read where the Beast manages to keep his bonded friend alive simply by the bond itself. But it's not all fun and games, not at all... Adam no longer wants to be that sickly weakling, that burden for his parents, so Adam is determined to make his body stronger inorder to accept the gift Aureus bestowed. With lots of elixers, physical exercise, training and even hunting monsters for a boy of just 16 years it's almost overwhelming but he's dedicated for sure!
So if you like books featuring strong companions like Body Refinement in a Beast Tamer's World, or The Lone Wanderer you're gonna need to grab this book.

This is my first book by this author.
Our story centers around Adam and his "world" and how it has affected him throughout his life and how it has put extra strain (emotionally and financially) on his parents. He is befriended by Daniel only wants to help his friend but is there more to his or his family's benevolence. He receives an egg from his father after his father has risked his life to "help" his son. This is only the beginning of Adam's adventure.
This is a LitRPG book but without a heavy focus on stats. There is more focus on characters, world building, and companionship. The pace of the writing was not as fast as most LitRPG but I feel it truly fit this book and how the story is portrayed. I look forward to reading more of Adam's adventures in the future.

Pokémon on Pern
Main character is a bit of an idiot, and spends a lot of time trying to ensure he’s not taking advantage of his rich friend. People are also emotional and slightly erratic, but maybe it’s a result of soul bonding spirit animals.
World is interesting, could it be a colony settled by spacefaring humans? One where everyone could be a cultivator summoner, (or Pokémon trainer) and they carry a home for their bonded companions in a dimensional pocket dantian.

July 27, 2026Listened to the first 12 chapters with my husband on a long drive. Certain aspects reminded me of Eragon, and though I dont plan to finish the book it was also interesting enough that I wouldn't mind reading more if it was on my own device. Early rating 3/5 ☆

Cool concept. It is showing weak to strong growth which is to say we start with the MC being pretty weak. The magic system is cool and it really ties into the beast bonds. I enjoyed the setting of the training camps. There is a lot of potential for this series.

Wow, original story!
I looked the power changes. The main character is strong but not op. After overcoming the MC needs a new challenge but I'm sure things will develop that way. Original story.

Read the first three books in this series on RR. I assume that the for-publication edits will be cleaner, but it's still pretty darn solid on RR. (one read per volume)

I tried, I really did... But this is just awful. If you enjoy listening to a loser cry about their problems while paralysed with anxiety, this might be for you.

Interesting world concept with underdog main character. I just hope that the bond with his best friend doesn't get destroyed by jealousy.
