As if losing everyone else wasn’t enough. Nathan and Tracey have to battle to keep from losing each other. The worse of their worries have yet to come when they find they are the main source of a demon takeover that threatens them and the humans. With every burdened they have encountered, they have yet to bare the worse.

“What is the benefit of having someone that is everything you ever wanted, needed, imagined, and dreamed? You will want for nothing. The story of my life.”
We rejoin Tracey and Nathan in Inflicted as Tracey’s family is departing for their new home. In previous books we have watched as Nathan and Tracy have gone from total strangers to unabashed lovers. They’ve experienced death, danger, and destruction. But, they have also grown, emotionally and in their personal maturity.
There are still so many frustrating things about this life Tracey has chosen. The secrets, or lack of full truths, are unbearable for her at times. Despite that, we still see the same love and passion from Tracey and Nathan that we have in previous books. The initial shifting of the ground beneath us begins with Nathan. The foreshadowing of things to come builds with each flip of the page, making us on edge. From there it is one turn of events after another as we are introduced to various characters and situations that challenge our favorite couple and those closest to them. We continue to see the paranormal aspects at work that present more danger and skills. There is no stopping the fated path that leads us to the final pages and the eye-opening truth of prophecy.
Inflicted was an amazing paranormal romance read, which I have grown accustomed to with Author Peiri Ann. Surprisingly, she utilized a slightly different writing style than what has been present in her other books. However, this should not detour a reader from exploring Inflicted, but rather draw them, as this change appeared to be a further maturation in her writing style and offered views of the main characters that have not been seen in previous books. Sass and spunk from Tracey. Take charge and tenderness from Nathan. Additionally we get the craziness that comes from his family. The pace of the story was initially slower so that the scene could be set for the rest of the story. However, once the action started there was no stopping it. The intensity of emotions that I experienced in this story was like none I have experienced in either Burdened or Tainted, as I became so connected to the main characters that anything that disrupted their world caused a disrupt in mine. I enjoyed seeing more moments of softness and tenderness between Tracey and Nathan. I was totally enamored by Laine. He was such a contradiction and a tortured soul. I was drawn to him with a such a strong need to help put his puzzled life together. The perspective of Tracey was inspiring. She was strong and persevered in the face of tragedy. Total excitement erupted from within as I read Nathan’s own perspective of events. The further I read into the story, the emotional intensity became more overwhelming, making me feel as is I couldn’t take another breath without a resolution. I had feels on top of feels on top of feel on top of feels. Inflicted was a great continuation in the Burdened Novel series!
Quote from Inflicted that reflected my love for this book and series…
“…I’m already crazy over you. Always have been, always will be.”

I really enjoy the romance in these books, mostly because I'm a sucker for soul mate romances and Peiri Ann delivers. Although it's not an easy path. The two mates seem to find themselves arguing or running into problem after problem and it never seems to stop. This is jus tone of the many things that drew me into this series. And the other is that there is plenty of action and plenty of surprises one after the other. And many of them are painful. But yet you just can't stop reading.
And there are so many things that we are in the dark about because Tracey and Nathan aren't omniscient. Which can be frustrating but it's more in the I WANT TO KNOW NOW DAMMIT! way.
Inflicted was a bit confusing at times but it wasn't as bad because both characters were confused and lost at the same time as the reader.
We did finally get some of Nathan's perspective which was different and I enjoyed. Because it's not often that we do get that except maybe in the quotes at the beginning of each book. And speaking about the beginning now I'm jumping to that cliffhanger ending. AND WOW, what a cliffhanger. CAN I HAVE PLAGUED NOW???
The only issue I had with this book is sometimes the grammar and writing had errors, but it didn't make it hard to read the book at all. The plot was certainly worth it!
Ooh, it deeply saddens me how long it took for me to finish this. I absolutely loved it, there's no doubt about that. I just haven't been reading a lot lately and this, sadly, is the book that I got caught up in.
I can't believe how well this sequel went, it was the perfect addition to the Burdened series. Inflicted is the kind of book that you will sit down with for hours and get lost in. That is what should have happened with me, but I would always start reading at the most inopportune times and then be forced to stop, then it would take me a little while to get back into it.
Inflicted primarily deals with the issues that Nathan and Tracey have to go through after Nathan becomes "inflicted" with the marks on his back. A lot of people are after them and it results in the main plot of this book. It is a very interesting read, and if you've read the previous 2 books I highly recommend continuing the series. I cannot wait to get the last book in the series!

This series just keeps getting better and better! This was hands down my favorite installment in the series so far and I can't wait to read book 4! Let me just say, HOLY CLIFFHANGER! My mouth dropped open after reading the last chapter because I couldn't believe Peiri Ann would end it like that!
We are introduced to a few new characters in this story. I'm not sure how I feel about Laine. I can't decide if I really like him or if he's just creepy. The turmoil and crazy circumstances that Nathan and Tracey go through are so action packed that I couldn't put the book down. There are some extremely emotional parts to this book that will pull at your heartstrings for sure. I loved how we got to get inside Nathan's head a bit this time instead of just having Tracey's POV. I hope the last book continues that way. I can't wait to read book 4!
At last we have the #3 instalment in The Burdened series. This series is a great read for those of you who fancy trying a little something different by reading or discovering the genre of this book. As with the other previous books we get to spend more time with Tracey and Nathan. This one tells its story from an angle which is slightly different from previous books. We see Tracey and her extended Newcomb family searching for her mate Nathan, who appeared to be dead but Tracey is convinced he is alive and out there somewhere and she won’t give up hope until she finds him. Once again this is written so well with plenty going on in the story. The characters and show not tell skill is amazing. Well worth a read!”
In book 3 of this series, Nathan and Tracey face more heartbreak, loss, and betrayal. Demons and other creatures plot against the bounded couple and plan to use them in their deadly scheme to take over the world. No one in their circle can be trusted and no one is safe. Nathan and Tracey have encountered many battles but they are about to face the biggest loss of all.
Ms. Ann's storytelling skills once again will keep you enthralled in this book from start to finish. And the cliffhanger just left me with my mouth wide open and screaming "WTH JUST HAPPENED"??!! I can't wait to see how this story ends.
I finish Inflicted & my first thought is: wow. Just... Wow! I was sucked into this series from the first page of the first book & kept getting hit with curve balls! Peiri definitely knows how to keep a reader in suspense. All while connecting with your emotions & dropping surprise after surprise. This series is definitely a must read & Peiri Ann is definitely a go to author, one who's books you'll want to snatch up as soon as they're available.
Nothing like a good book packed full of malice to get your heart pumping. This book, I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what was going on as soon as I could! The cliffhanger, oh the cliffhanger in this book leaves you needing much more Tracey and Nathan. Going in to the fourth book now!
