How to Not Kidnap a Biker

Rate this book
Viral trends can ruin lives. Especially when in a moment of delusion you decide to follow one.

After watching one too many "how to kidnap a biker" tutorials on her favorite social media app, Rachel decides it's a good idea to try one herself. Because what can go wrong, after all? What she isn't counting on is that her target is too eager to participate in his kidnapping.

Bar owner Kai has a little too much time on his hands and an unhinged side drawn to chaos. When Rachel decides to kidnap him, he perceives the act as an invitation to enter the beautiful bookworm's life and make a mess of it. After all, she started it.

How to Not Kidnap a Biker is a dark romantic comedy suitable for readers above the age of 18. Even though this book leans more toward romantic comedy than dark romance, it still contains some triggering subjects. Readers are advised to read the trigger warning page before continuing with the book.

She kidnapped a biker, then found the chaos that chose her back.

Rachel thinks she's chasing a fantasy when one impulsive decision drops a tattooed biker into her life. What starts as a mistake becomes a battle of stubborn wills, escalating pranks, mutual fixation, and chaos neither of them is prepared for. Every attempt to push the other away only pulls them closer.

Kai should be furious. Instead, he sees Rachel's reckless choice as an invitation. Beneath the blue hair, shameless flirting, and relentless pursuit is a man who decides she's his person. Rachel expects people to leave, while Kai refuses to stay gone no matter how often she tells him to.

As attraction deepens into obsession and obsession starts to look like devotion, their games become harder to separate from real feelings. Jealousy, possessiveness, and desire keep raising the stakes, but beneath the madness is someone who sees every messy part of her and chooses to stay.

Rachel starts as a lonely romantic who treats fantasy as escape but learns to trust her desires and believe she deserves to be chosen. Kai begins as an obsessive force of chaos yet reveals a caring side as fixation grows into devotion. Their relationship shifts from mutual obsession and escalating games into an intimate partnership built on trust, honesty, and shared chaos.

An ultra-steamy, dark romantic comedy featuring a bookworm heroine, a tattooed biker, mutual obsession, stalker x stalker chaos, kidnapper x kidnapper energy, possessive devotion, praise, power play, and found family. It explores loneliness, trust, vulnerability, desire, belonging, and the difference between being wanted and being chosen. It’s about two gloriously unhinged people who turn chaos into connection and find the one person willing to match their madness and stay.

The Elevator Pitch: One impulsive decision turns a romance-loving bookworm's life upside down when the biker she targets proves far more interested in staying than escaping. What begins as a ridiculous act of chaos becomes a battle of obsession, affection, and escalating devotion between two people who are equally unprepared for how deeply they will affect each other. Beneath the humor, jealousy, and madness is a story about being seen completely and choosing not to look away.

Two wrongs, don’t make a right. Right??? 🤣

Rachel an avid book reader decides it would be a good idea to kidnap a biker, those books combined with socials can lead to all sorts of naught behaviour 🤭 Fortunately, her best friend Noah tries to drill some sense into into her, except her biker has already escaped his ropes and called for back up in the form of his friend. Turns out Kai enjoyed his little foray and has decided to make it his mission to deal a little payback to Rachel. Thus we are thrust into a tit for tat between the pair 🤣

𝙲𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑? 𝙲𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑?" 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 𝚙𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚢 𝚋𝚒𝚔𝚎𝚛 𝚒𝚗 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚗𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚞𝚜. "𝙷𝚎 𝚒𝚜 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚊 𝚏^*𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙿𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚖𝚘𝚗, 𝚁𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚕!"

It could be a one sitting read if you aren’t constantly interrupted 🙄 Anna pulls you straight in from the start, with their banter, the humour which at times made me laugh out loud (no inside voice 😉), their stalking, the obsessive sometimes jealous behaviour but Kai only has one goal and ensures he pursues it avidly. I loved the back n forth with these two, the inner dialogue is at times hilarious but exactly what you’d do in r/l plus also in the background we have Noah enjoying himself 😉 It’s a great palette cleanser with spicy times that touches on 🐝DSM.

This was a very messy book that needed an editor badly (or another editor)
Each chapter was a contradiction to the previous. The characters were immature and honestly unlikable.
There was so much potential for an amazing book.
The author also felt the need to hold our hands and explain everything to us in minute detail.
We were told how the FMC puts her clothes on. How she carries it from her closet to the bed where she sets it down. We were retold multiple times things that are obvious and have previously been mentioned.
What happened to letting us think for ourselves, to letting our imagination flow.

In this book you meet Rachel who decides one day to follow a how to kidnap a biker meme. She kidnaps a biker name Kai who enjoyed it just a little to much? You'll have to read it to find out more. “He is not a Pokémon, Rachel; you didn’t catch him. You fu**ing kidnapped him.”

After a long run of heavy dark romance, this was the exact refresh I didn’t know I needed! The characters had such great banter between them. It was quirky, fun, and had me giggling, even though it still delivers on those darker themes and the spice we love. This was such a fast-paced, vibey read which grabbed me from the first chapter.

"Oh, God! I could get arrested! Nope, don't go there, Rachel.  You will be fine. You didn't do anything wrong. You just gave the guy a ride...to your house...without asking...and tied him to a chair. Yeah, I am definitely going to prison."

How every love story should begin,  kidnapping. 😂 I love the banter and dark humour Anna Ioannidi put into this amazing book! Especially how the story unfolds and grows between Kai and Rachel, but a bonus for their best friend's as well.

Soaked up the trigger warnings with the stalking, practice of BDSM, and other consensual acts to name a few. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! PRE-ORDER NOW!

Thank you, Anna Ioannidi.

Rachel and Kai were meant for each other. The laughs were constant because of the way these two played with each other. My favorite part is Rachel calling the cops on Kai and Leo then having them wait forever to be picked up.

I really enjoyed this one.

I received this book as an Advanced Copy from the author:

How to Not Kidnap a Biker by Anna Ioannidi is the kind of book that grabs you by the collar, winks, and drags you straight into chaos… and somehow makes you laugh the entire way down.

This story is pure delightful disaster energy. Rachel, fueled by bad decisions and worse internet advice, decides kidnapping a biker is a solid life choice. Enter Kai, who doesn’t just go along with it… he practically rolls out the welcome mat for his own abduction. What follows is a deliciously unhinged dance of obsession, humor, and “wait… why is this actually working?”

The chemistry? Electric. Not the soft, candlelit kind either. This is neon signs flickering in a back alley at midnight, buzzing with tension and bad ideas. Rachel’s awkward determination collides perfectly with Kai’s chaotic, intrigued energy, creating a dynamic that’s equal parts hilarious and dangerously addictive.

What really makes this book shine is its balance. It struts between dark themes and rom-com absurdity without ever losing its footing. One moment you’re laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation, the next you’re side-eyeing the emotional depth creeping in like a shadow with something to say.

And let’s be honest, the premise alone deserves applause. A kidnapping that turns into an invitation? A biker who’s into it? It’s bold, bizarre, and executed with just the right amount of bite.

If you love:
• Morally questionable characters you can’t help but root for
• Dark humor wrapped in romantic tension
• “This is a terrible idea” plots that somehow become irresistible

Then buckle up, because this book is a wild, glitter-splattered crash you won’t want to escape.

Final verdict: unhinged, addictive, and ridiculously fun. This isn’t just a romance… it’s a beautifully chaotic what did I just read and why did I love it so much experience. 💜

"It should be common sense that when someone kidnaps you, you respect their home and stay the f**k silent"

This book was brilliant - I was laughing by page 10... Partly because my cat that thinks he's a dog certainly wont ever let me forget he exists so that excuse wouldn't work for me either hun! (IYKYK)

Rachel really is just out there living every dark romance girlie's fantasy and Anna is out there showing the regular rom coms that traditional "meet cutes" are overrated. Why wouldn't an epic love story start with a bit of light kidnapping?

Underneath the chaos of the kidnapper becoming the stalkee who then becomes the stalker (don't worry, you'll get it), these characters have genuine depth - we see Kai showing some considerable self awareness throughout the book (admittedly it did take a brief stint at a police station to encourage better communication but we got there!).

The comedic banter between best friends Noah and Rachel is top tier- Noah's witty one liners help to highlight the ridiculousness of the scrapes our main characters find themselves in but his loyalty and protective vibes towards Rachel makes him a perfect sidekick for book one.

To quote the author, if you like books where "Prince Charming is the villain that stalks the princess and kidnaps her to his castle"... This one's for you.

P.s. the spice rating is SPICY 🔥

ARC Reader
I started the book late in the day or I would have finished this book in a day.
It was amusing and great. I loved Rachel from page one. Then we met Kai.
The four mains (Rachel, Kai, Noah, Leo) are just great, I love them and their antics.
Noah and Leo pretend to not be 'supportive' at first, but we know they were always along for the ride.
I love the two romances in the book.
I've never seen this running gag--- do I want to look into it? Hmm maybe .. a little curious.
The only thing I noticed was a slight bit of time that didn't make sense with timeline. When it came to the overall kidnapping and then the 'ghosting'. Though it doesn't take away from the book at all.
Can't wait for book two, which I have as another ARC read. Excited to see Leo and Noah's side of the story.

I really loved this little novella. It was such a good read I was hooked instantly Kai and Rachel were adorbs and i loved them 🫶

the only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star read was the small timeline issue that confused me. At one point it says “It’s almost been a week since she kidnapped me” but a few chapters before it said “he aired me for a week” and things happened between that so it was all just a tiny bit confusing.

Other than that, I absolutely loved this book. my only real complaint is that I wish it had more pages, I didn’t want it to end I could’ve happily spent another 100 pages with this couple

Rachel, a book girlie, sees many videos on TikTok about kidnapping a biker, so she decides to give it a go.
Well, the biker she kidnaps turns out to be quite happy with this situation, Kai is hilarious, adorable in an obsessive and slightly psychotic way.

The chemistry between them is great and I loved the banter between the two of them!
As a girlie who’d rather be at home with my books I related to Rachel in so many ways, who doesn’t want a hot biker whispering dirty things into their ear?!

I adored this book, I was laughing so hard at some parts, gasping at others.

This was the absolute best. I laughed so hard. Right from the first chapter, I was done. I was already laughing so I knew this was going to be good. And it add not disappoint. Rachel definitely had too much time on her hands off after watching videos, she decided that kidnapping a biker would be simple and fun. She decided Kai, the guy with at the bar, is a great candidate. Except he’s as unhinged as she is. He loved it! So now he’s stalking her. She’s stalking him…it was a great time of tit for tat in this. And when those two collided, that spice was something else. This was good. A definite must read.

Rachel has a moment of insanity that leads her to kidnapping a biker named Kai, who actually is quite agreeable about the whole thing. Deciding he is fine in her bedroom while she reads books with her best friend she doesn't expect him to send out a video about the kidnapping, get untied and still is waiting for her until his best friend comes and gets him. Rachel doesn't realize thought that now the hostage is becoming the stalker and he is all in on his fascination for Rachel.

I enjoyed this up to a point of Rachel that completely soured me with some of her behavior. Kai was totally fascinated with and it may not bother readers as much as it bothered me. I did think this was about an MC biker but it is just a biker.

Kidnapping gone wrong (or right?).

My very first ARC! Thank you so much, Anna Ioannidi. I hope my review will help other readers pick up this book.

First things first: whoever said “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is clearly not a reader. The art and colors are so pretty—well done to the creator!

Second, a note to self: do not read (and I repeat, do not read) in bed with your sleeping husband next to you. He will resent you in the morning after you’ve interrupted his sleep multiple times because you couldn’t stop yourself from snorting out loud. Let me just say, the comedy is on point.

The inner dialogue was sometimes too funny. References to Pokémon and Scooby-Doo? Perfect. Lovable gay/bi side characters with a lot of sass? Absolutely divine!

As for the story, Anna doesn’t waste our time. I mean, the biker is already kidnapped from the very start! He’s already tied up (or maybe not…). Straight to the point—I like it!

Rachel is a quirky FMC with (imo) zero survival skills and very questionable decision-making. But we support it! Kai is your typical biker, with tattoos covering his body—the brooding type. But for her? He’s a freaking golden retriever. Yet he’s still a possessive alpha male, and we love that.

I read the book in one sitting, way into the night, because I couldn’t put it down. I was too invested in their love story to see how it would turn out. I loved that Rachel wasn’t your typical “damsel in distress.” When Kai stalked her, she stalked him right back. He pops up at her workplace—well, what do you think happens?

As for the spice, most of it was in his POV, which I think isn’t very common (or at least not in the books I’ve read so far). So that’s a big plus!

My honest opinion? It was a very good read, full of banter between the MCs and between them and the side characters (who will hopefully get their own story). The spice was spicing—nothing disappointing there.

For me, though, the ending felt rushed. I feel like it could have been a bit longer and more spread out, with more details. Or maybe it’s just me not wanting their story to end.

As for the plot, don’t expect a big story with lots of events happening outside the small world of the MCs. But the events that do happen fit the story so well that it doesn’t disappoint either.

I would definitely reread this book, and I want a physical copy—because seriously, that cover looks amazing!

Let me just start by saying that I COULD NOT put this book down. I read it in a couple hours as it was part mystery (was Kai dangerous, what was Kai going to do next i.e. break into Rachel's apartment... again). The beginning of the story had me laughing so hard, with Rachel kidnapping a biker because she saw it in a TikTok video! I can relate to this as I have read so many books and seen a lot of different stories and could understand how the stories/TikTok piqued her interest in kidnapping Kai. Little did she know, she kidnapped someone who actually liked it (she did a horrible job at it by the way), and basically got off on it. Although Kai had some red flags (his ex had a restraining order against him, he installed cameras in Rachel's apartment without her consent and was watching in on her, which could be seen as cute at times). I really like Rachel's character, as she is very relatable from her and Noah's book obsession (book club), to her honesty, even if it wasn't the most polite thing (i.e. she was into some kink). From the first page, Rachel knew what she wanted and boy did she get it in Kai, she just fought it for quite awhile, and rightfully so! I also like Noah and Rachel's relationship throughout this book. Noah is the best friend that I feel like everyone strives to have. They have each other's back, and will always follow the other through fire as needed. The other note on the storyline that I could not stop thinking about throughout, is how social media can influence people's actions like this. This can be said about Kai as much as it can about Rachel, as Kai livestreamed a video after he was "kidnapped" so Leo would rescue him. Even though he had everything under control. The underlying humor throughout the book was great too as it had me laughing (especially Kai/Leo's relationship)! Can't wait to read another by Anna Ioannidi.

After a long streak of heavier dark romance reads, How to NOT Kidnap a Biker was the chaotic, hilarious refresh I didn’t know I needed. This book grabbed me from chapter one and never let go. It’s quirky, fast-paced, full of personality, and had me laughing out loud while still delivering the darker edge and spice romance readers crave.

Rachel, an avid reader with way too much confidence and way too much internet influence, decides kidnapping a biker sounds like a solid life choice. Naturally, everything goes off the rails immediately; especially when said biker is far too enthusiastic about the whole situation. Kai is unhinged in the best possible way: charming, chaotic, obsessive, and absolutely committed to making Rachel regret (or maybe enjoy) every decision she made.

The banter between these two was top tier. Their back-and-forth had me grinning constantly, and the chemistry was undeniable from the start. I loved how the story balanced laugh-out-loud moments with tension, attraction, and just enough unpredictability to keep me turning pages.

Kai was the kind of morally questionable man you can’t look away from, and Rachel matched his energy perfectly. Add in Noah stealing scenes on the sidelines, and this cast was ridiculously entertaining.

This was one of those books I could have finished in a single sitting if life had stopped interrupting me. If you love dark romantic comedies, chaotic energy, possessive men, witty heroines, fun obsession vibes, and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still serving heat…this one is for you.

Anna absolutely nailed the vibe with this one, and I had such a blast reading it. Highly recommend for readers wanting something playful, spicy, and deliciously unhinged.

his book is absolute chaos—in the best possible way.

I went into this expecting something quirky and funny, but I did not expect to be this hooked. The premise alone is wild (who decides to kidnap a biker because of social media trends?!), but somehow it works perfectly and turns into a story that’s both hilarious and oddly addictive.

Rachel is such a mess—but a relatable one. Her impulsive decision-making and inner chaos make her feel real, and you can’t help but root for her even when she’s making the worst possible choices.

And then there’s Kai… who somehow manages to out-chaos Rachel. Instead of reacting like a normal person, he just goes with it, and that’s where the story really shines. His energy is unpredictable, a little unhinged, and completely entertaining.

What makes this book stand out is the balance between humor and darker undertones. It leans heavily into romantic comedy, but there’s still an edge that keeps things interesting and adds depth to the characters and their dynamic.

The chemistry is fast, chaotic, and full of tension—but it fits the story perfectly. Nothing about this book is calm or predictable, and that’s exactly why it works.

If you enjoy:

chaotic, “what did I just read” energy
dark romantic comedy with humor-first vibes
morally questionable (but entertaining) characters
fast-paced, unpredictable romance

…you’ll probably love this.

Overall: unhinged, funny, and ridiculously entertaining. Definitely a wild ride from start to finish. 😅🔥.

ARC Review
How to Not Kidnap a Biker by Anna Ioannidi

Rachel Roberts is a bookworm with a slightly concerning love for social media… the kind that convinces you that yes, you can kidnap a biker if you just follow enough tutorials. So she does. Not her best decision.

Luckily for her, the biker she kidnaps—Kai—doesn’t press charges. Unfortunately (or maybe not), he’s just as unhinged as she is. Kai, who co-owns a sports bar, basically treats the whole situation like an invitation into her life… and never really leaves.

Both Rachel and Kai have their own intimacy issues, but somehow their shared chaos and obsessive energy make them weirdly perfect together.

This might actually be my favorite dark romantic comedy right now. The characters are wildly entertaining, completely unpredictable, and honestly a little unhinged in the most fun way. Starting the story with a kidnapping was such a bold choice, and it worked so well. Their chemistry felt natural despite how insane everything around them was.

Rachel’s inner monologue was probably my favorite part—it added so much humor and personality. The book is full of funny lines, and the focus stays strongly on their relationship and their chaotic dynamic.

If you enjoy kidnapping romance with a dark comedic twist, this one is definitely worth picking up.

I highly recommend it.

*****I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was honestly really excited after reading the blurb for this book. It gave me the impression that it would have a vibe similar to Lights Out, and that definitely raised my expectations. Unfortunately, while reading, I realized it was not that kind of book at all.

The story definitely had potential, and I truly think it could have been a good book, but not in the way it was written here. From the very beginning, it felt like this would have worked much better as a novella. In a shorter format, the story might have been tighter and more effective, but as it is, it just did not come together for me.

I could not understand the setting, I could not connect with the characters, and I honestly did not even fully understand how the story began. Everything felt unclear. The book moved forward almost entirely through character dialogue, and unfortunately, that was not enough to build the world, the plot, or the emotional depth.

That is what disappointed me the most, because there was real potential here. It could have been a very good book, but sadly, the execution weakened everything that could have made it stand out.

I don’t usually read biker books or dark romance but the synopsis of this one was just too ridiculous to pass over. And it was certainly a ridiculous (and enjoyable) book. No, this wouldn’t work in real life and I’m definitely not going to go looking for my own biker to catch (*cough* kidnap). Just accept the silliness and go along for the ride. Both main characters make several questionable life choices (or maybe they only make questionable life choices?) and use stalking and kidnapping as romantic overtures. Each has a friend who attempts to act as a voice of reason (and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Noah and Leo’s story) but is no match for the wave of insanity that is Rachel and/or Kai. It all comes together as a hilarious story.

There were a few scenes/elements that didn’t do it for me personally but I’m pretty sure those were to check off the “dark romance” aspect that I don’t generally enjoy anyway. And there were a few times where I found the narrative was a bit repetative. But the grammar/spelling was solid and overall I thought it was worth reading.

Very funny from the dedication onward. The epilogue was a little much for me, but an unhinged couple deserve a mildly unhinged happily ever after. Had some repetitive moments and a bit of a tonal shift about 20 pages from the end. I’m not going to lie, I loved every scene of this book. Pair that with interesting, funny characters, and an FMC that’s basically living my dream, and it’s a 5 star from me.

Thanks to Booksprout I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so fun and enjoyable to read I finished it in one sitting because I loved it so much. Rachel and Kai were made for each other, they both have questionable morals and a tendency to stalk each other. I loved how Leo and Noah were both dragged into these crazy situations by being best friends with Rachel and Kai. This book had me laughing throughout it was entertaining but also leaned into the obsession of readers and fantasies that I’m sure many people have had. In any other situation Kai would be setting off red flags but I was just as obsessed with him as Rachel was and he’s so sweet in a stalkerish way. Some of my favourite scenes were between Rachel and Noah and Leo and Kai as they try to talk their friends out doing something crazy or illegal and the situations they found themselves in because of their friends. I loved the meet cute in this definitely don’t see that happening in real life, it was hilarious to read about as nothing went to plan or the way you would expect it to but it all worked out in the end.
