The Book of James

Rate this book
Life in a broken world means trials of many kinds. Yet James reminds us that these realities actually have the ability to strengthen our faith and propel us forward in our walk with Jesus. Part of the paradoxical reality of living in the kingdom of God is that joy can come when we endure suffering by God's strength. So James encourages the believer who might be tempted to give way to the persecutors or cling too tightly to the things of this world that God has something far deeper in mind for a life of faith. Undivided, unwavering devotion to God means relinquishing that which the world holds dear. It means moving our faith out of the realm of theory or knowledge and putting into practice all that we say we believe.
In this three-week study of James, we will be reminded that true wisdom and true religion are a result of clinging wholly to the person of Jesus in our actions, hearts, and minds.

She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.

I really enjoyed this one and was sad to see it come to an end. It was like a step-by-step examination of conscience as we moved through the Book slowly over 3 weeks.
