I’m always baffled when a story is drawn out for ever and all the new books spend 95% of the time on new characters and only snippets of a main plot that readers have been waiting for 108 books. And yet here we are once again waiting. News flash if you finally let us have Khiann it will not end the storyline. And this ending was just weird, wasn’t a cliff hanger, wasn’t major , just weird.
Killing the three brothers for Losham was a great plan, the escape is almost here Thoughts how will Khiann react when he recovers , he has lost thousands of years and his fated Annani has given birth to five children during those times, Navuh is hoping to plot his escape at the moment he doesn’t know if the many doomers in statis where is , let’s hope that never happens. As always a great book leaving we the reader desperate for the next one and hopefully many more after , hoping the series doesn’t end with the rescue of Khiann
As the debris removal continues other plans need to be set in place. Sullha is helping find the women in the collective that Dave wants to free to see if they are someone to be saved or if there is an issue. Losham comes up with a plan to thwart his brothers’ constant threats, but Dave finds a better solution. They relay the plan to Kian and will let him know the outcome. It may help with their plan to leave the island. Meanwhile Arezoo and Ruvon have their wedding day. It is filled with heartfelt blessings from Annani and meaningful vows from the couple. Seeing how this couple has grown from their past and support each other has been a beautiful journey that you can only enjoy and root for. After the events in this story you can only be hopeful that Dave, Mattie, the scientists, and the women in the enclosure that they want to take with them can finally be free of the island.
All the characters at this point are pretty interesting. I'm very curious how Navuh and Arianna's relationship will develop with everything going on. I do hope he can have a redemption arc. I kept thinking why would the author show us so much of how they got together if there was no hope for him. Maybe Mortdhs way is the only way he's ever known, and seeing the clan's way up close and his sons very good form of fatherhood will teach him a different way. Even if he isn't redeemable I am still cheering for the scientists and their ladies as well as for Dave and their family. I am so ready for them to be rescued and see how Annani handles having to help her love through rehabilitation. That her and Arianna both will have to go through this is interesting, and with their sister and brother having gone through it themselves as well, i hope it bonds the siblings together even more.
I am always excited when my monthly dose of Children of the Gods is published! This is book number 108. The series is a compilation of multiple trilogies - Dark Chains: Second Link is the 2nd book in this trilogy. I'm anticipating the break-out will be in the 3rd book, and I cannot wait for it to come out! What I absolutely love about this series is that it has a plausible plot. The mysteries revolving around the seven wonders of the world would no longer be mysteries if Earth weren't the only planet inhabited by life. The Children of the Gods series resonates with me...it's believable. I'm fully hooked. Isabell T. Lucas, please keep writing and spinning these wonderful, believable, and captivating stories!
I have always waited with baited breath for the next book to come out, but lately it's getting boring. Things have not really been interesting since the wedding cruise. For at least the last six books it seems as though it's just dragging with nothing really happening. Too much time is being spent on the harem and Navuh and the Dave situation. It's like each book is just a repeat of the previous one. Needs to move along and get back to the fast paced stories and cliffhangers that kept things interesting for me to keep wanting to read over 100 books. I will read book 109 but if something exciting doesn't happen it will likely be the last one that I read.
I know we are on book 108 but you have to trust me on this one, it’s sooooooo worth it! You absolutely have to start at book 1 Dark Stranger The Dream. It’s all on KU and it’s the best of the bunch and they’re all short reads.
This is another anticipation building book. So many moving parts in this and I swear if we don’t get an answer on those trunks soon I’m going to absolutely lose it!
Then there’s strangely lovable Dave, how is that going to work out!?!?!
*I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review
A great second book to the Dark Chains trilogy. Back in LA, Arezoo and Ruvon finally get married with a beautiful ceremony. On the island, plans are being made for the escape of the Eight and the scientists. Yaaf and Sullha are growing closer and trying to decide which women in the Dormant enclosure they can take with them. Even though there is not as much suspense and action as the last book, this one does wrap up a couple of storylines and is more sentimental and emotional. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Beautiful blend of romance and excitement and growth
One of the highlights of this installment is watching Dave’s transformation their growth is moving more toward having an individual experience separate from the collective. Reading about theirs and Sullha’s journey keeps me glued to the story. Lucas does an excellent job showing love, responsibility and self reflection helps to inspire a meaningful change toward their transformation if you love romance then you are in the right place. Another smash hit by Lucas.
Excellent read - Isabell you have to go to #110 to end on an even number and to satisfy peoples curiosity and so you don't leave no stone unturned. I need to know what happens to all of them once they leave the island and what happens to the people on the island once Dave, the scientists and Mattie leave the island on whether they get to stay with the clan and if Mattie turns immortal.
I can't help it I need to know or I will be wondering what would have happened to them.
Dark Chains: Second Link, Book 108 of the Children of the Gods series by Isabell Lucas @itlucas_author - You must read this book serial in order from book 1!
What an amazing 2nd book about Yaaf & Sullha! Tropes: Contemporary, Paranormal (Gods/Goddesses/Aliens), Male/Female, Did The Chests Survive The Collapse, Can Yaaf Separate Himself From Dave, Overall Storyline Arc For The Series & A Cliffhanger For Continuing This Serial!
Dark Chains: Second Link is book 108 of I.T. Lucas's The Children of the Gods series. The characters throughout this series have all been amazing, yet Ms Lucas still introduces new characters that draw you in and have you rooting for them. Dave is one of those characters. The more Dave grows as a collective the more I find them endearing. I truly hope Dave remains a main character in many more books to come.
Not quite as bad as the last book, but almost. Another book where nothing really happens and the same information is repeated 3+ times. Way too much description of things that don’t matter, and extremely slow pacing. I might have to give up on this series. I did my best to skim, but it was still really not a fun experience. I’m so sick of Dave. Being in Dave’s head is mind-numbing.
Finished it and already waiting for the next book.
I found this series back in 2022 and was spoiled by not having to wait for release dates. I enjoy the twists that I never see coming. I tired to explain the background story to my husband and realised just what a journey I have been taken on. You really need to start at the beginning it is definitely worth it. So many creative ideas. I’m itching to read the next book.
Dark Chains: Second Link (Children Of The Gods Paranormal Romance Book 108) by I T Lucas. Ruvon and Arezoo have their fairytale wedding and 3 days later Arezoo starts transitioning into an immortal. The plan to get Khiann and his 4 friends back is gradually forming and to help matters Dave assassinates Losham 3 brother’s reinforcing the lie that Navuh was alive.
This series is an absolute must read. Children of the gods has over 100 books, every book in this series is just great writing. The books hold your interest throughout the whole series, it keeps you up on all of the past characters and the new ones being brought in every time I finish one. I can’t wait for the next to come out. You will not be disappointed in choosing the series to read.
I really love this series but I am getting frustrated that we are not getting to the finish line with the current story. Anyway, when people see that this is book 108, they are probably saying they don’t want get into such a long series, but it is so worth it. At least new readers don’t have to wait weeks for the next book! Really love this series
A wedding and transition and assassination oh my (lions and tigers and bears haha). The story is still playing out but we get to see how much more everyone has to lose too. Hang on for a long ride however don't hold your breath because I don't think we are going to see the future come to pass until the next book.
Oh Dave is working with others and learning while remembering past experiences. Another dormant experience the transition. Annani presides over a wedding. There is involuntary murder/suicide. Oh so so good!
The next one cannot come quick enough, absolutely love this series and where it going, love that we keep in touch with so many of the previous main characters, simply superb!!
This book was so good. I am really enjoying the Dave characters and getting to know their personalities. I’ll loved the wedding and do hope we are getting closer to finding khiann. These books always keep me locked in.
I know we are coming to the end of the series so it’s a moot point, but we really could do without the middle books as they are just fillers. Only one significant thing happened in this book right at the end.
I’m believe im permanently hooked on this world and i wish each book was twice as long. I’m rooting for The crew to get off the island and totally invested in what comes next.
I have never been able to stay interested in a series this long. But with this series I wait with bated breath foe the next, and she never disappoints!
