I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Boldwood Books via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“A Scandalous Bride”, by Fenella J. Miller, is a historical romance, with lots of adventure, about a love story between an independent heroine and a wounded hero adapting to civilian life.
The characters, Annabel and Ralph, are relatable and likeable and the plot and setting are interesting.
I found the scene where they meet very funny and Annabel’s spontaneity refreshing.
In general, I enjoyed the romantic relationship. The honesty and openess between them is also compelling. Having a hero so smitten with the heroine is always engaging.
I also appreciated how the author conveyed Ralph’s needs and changes/adaptation because of his arm.
I felt the story dragged in the second half and there was too much dialogue.
