Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
Hawke Oakley is hit or miss for me, and this one is a miss. Chase and Sagitta's voices sound the same, and despite Sagitta's inner monologue repeating that he is an Accomplished Powerful Exorcist, he doesn't feel like it at all. No show, just tell, and fear of being found out and losing status.
Edit: Now I feel bad for my grumbling being the first review of the book, but since I mostly write these to aid my own abysmal memory, it stays.
4/5 Such a cute and entertaining start to a new series by Hawke Oakley! This book combined so many fun tropes I love, including forbidden romance, forced proximity, nerd/jock vibes, and a black cat/golden retriever dynamic. The chemistry between the characters was sweet and playful, and Faust added the perfect amount of mischief to every scene.
Matt Haynes did a fantastic job with the narration as usual. He captured the humor and charm of the story really well and made the characters feel lively and distinct.
Overall, this was a fun, light-hearted paranormal romance that left me excited for the rest of the series.
A mischievous demon plays matchmaker to a sweet jock and a broody serious exorcist and I love it! This was a super sweet and a pleasure to read. Chase is stuck at his own birthday party and would much rather be cozy at home. When he bumps into a handsome stranger his party doesn't seem so bad anymore. Unfortunately Chase finds himself saving a fish and getting possessed by a demon. Sagitta takes his job as an exorcist very seriously. It's what he's done his whole life and he's never failed. That is until he struggles to exorcise the demon possessing the hot jock. Sagitta and Chase spend the next week trying to get rid of the demon, get to know eachother, and explore the tension building between them. This is one of those books where you want to yell at the characters for being idiots! Both guys are pretty clueless but it made their romance that much more endearing. Let's also not forget Faust the sassy demon! He was hilarious and such a fun addition to the story. His mischievous and quirky personality made him the perfect matchmaker for these two. Check out this book if you enjoy mm romance with a meddling demon, virgin MC, workplace romance, black cat x golden retriever, and forced proximity.
Chase goes to a birthday party and ends up getting possessed by a demon, Faust 14th. He then goes to a local temple to get the demon excerised by Sagitta. However things dont go as planned and Sagitta has 1 week to try to remove the demon and moves in with Chase. The 2 do start to develop feelings. I loved Faust. He is was sassy and I loved his voice. It turned out I felt sorry when he eventually left. However Chase and Sagitta get their HEA.
I truly loved this story about a young guy getting possessed by a demon on his birthday and then having to try and get said demon exorcised by the hot guy from the party. Lots of laughs and a couple battles, hopefully the continues this matchmaking demon series!
Talk about misinformation and identity crisis!! Everyone learned about themselves!! While life lessons are humbling, the hilarious truth about Faust is heartwarming. Chase really is a golden retriever on two legs.
3.5 rounded up. I liked the characters and really enjoyed the second part of the book, but some of the drama and angst felt unnecessary, and some parts felt repetitive. The glimpses of really interesting parts like lore we got to read about near the end were cool, I would love to see more of that.
This was pure silliness and complete fluff 😂 VERY reminiscent of the vibe of this author's dragon fate game series. No explanation for the supernatural. Massive instalove that has no real basis in character development. But for a lighthearted bit of happiness, it's adorable.
Excellent start to a new series by Hawke Oakley. These two are fun and sweet, and Faust is just the right amount of mischievous. Loved the writing and the flow of the whole novel, hard to put down!
Still reading the first chapter, and I'm already cackling. I do LOVE books that make me laff, etc( My Kryptonite).... Now. hoping there will be a series
