This continues to be a solid series for fun, lighthearted high school love and friendship stories. The artwork picked up in this one, so that pleased me. No major Drama and a fun, quick read.
3, solid I recommend this series when you want a high school not too heavy with the Drama, stars.

Another light, enjoyable and easy-going read. It’s even pokes fun at rom-com clichés, whilst offering a touch more insight into the analysis of emotions.
Just a touch more, mind you – it’s not a psychology treatise either!
The artwork is still... not very refined, but it fits well with Tani’s exuberance.

Ok, I’ve got to to say…
This volume was also really fun!!!
I don’t know if the word for it is ‘they keep getting better!’ but rather… as the series goes on, I grow more and more fond of the characters.
Right at the beginning, I didn’t expect Rihito to be so poetic, but it was really funny. Then, we’re right back to Nishi and Yamada… and just, like, I LOVE THOSE TWO SO MUCH CHAT! 😭😭 Their development in this volume made me so happy, but they always make me so happy! I love them!!
And we got to see a lot of fun things this volume, too! Tani visiting Suzuki’s house was really fun, I loved the way her mom reacted! It was really cute the way they wrote how Suzuki loves the rain, but at this moment, it felt like it was making the silence even louder? I KNOW this is such a random part of the book to comment on, but I loved it! And then the whole NishixYamada thing, Tani’s misunderstanding, the bubble blowing- and then later, The Photo Booth trip, Tani’s birthday and date with Suzuki- it was just too much fun!
And also, I’ve shipped TairaxAzuma the ENTIRE time, despite not being incredibly fond of either of them yet… but they were starting to develop a bit this volume! They feel realistic, and I do really like that. I don’t think Azuma deserves to just treat herself the way she does, and despite the fact that Taira is such a negative person himself, it’s interesting that he sees that. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing those two be happier as the story goes on!
I also love how Suzuki incorrectly tends to think every single little thing is going to become a kiss xD It always gets a laugh!! But then, at the end-
I want to read the next volume right away!! This series is so fun!

Again THIS SERIES IS SERIOUSLY SO CUTEEEEE!!! I love how the main couple are already together and the slowburn is the side couple. Such a nice twist tbh. NISHI AND YAMADA ARE SERIOUSLY SO SWEET MY TEETH WILL BECOME CAVITIES AND FALL OUT. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Taira and Azuma too are becoming an interesting pairing. I know the anime added more scenes pertaining to them but I will still disappointed when I realised one of their scenes wasnt in the manga. I do hope they become a thing in the next few volumes. I genuinely think they both work well together and also just make each other better people. They seem to really get along too and find it easy to talk to one another and potentially call each other out too which I think is a good basis for a relationship anyway lol.
Tani and Suzuki are too cute to boot bro. Their whole date at Suzukis house had me chuckling especially when her dad came home lol. Also…. WHEN ARE THEY GONNA KISSSSSS?? IVE BEEN EDGED FOR TOO LONG BRO.

Great character development
I really like that there is more development for other characters besides the main characters. I like finding out more about Tani, his feelings, and his own thoughts as a person. I love how both Tani and Suzuki are honest about their feelings but still get nervous as teenagers too!

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how I would've felt about this series if I hadn't watched and loved the anime. The storyboarding isn't amazing; while the same story beats are there, they came across so clearly on screen and feel choppier on the page. (Maybe it's partly due to the publisher? Viz doesn't seem to be doing a great job of translating/localizing jokes and wordplay.)
Which isn't to say that I don't like it. I do really adore these characters and (especially since it's pretty hard to actually get physical copies of anime anymore), I'm glad to have their story in book form.
Yamada and Nishi make some progress in this volume - I'm so fond of the two of them, especially Yamada with his kind, entirely straightforward nature. He's just a nice guy, through and through, with zero agendas. He's funny, too, which is what Nishi likes about him - which is good, because Yamada really likes it when Nishi laughs.
And he tells her! And she tells him, in turn, that she does like him texting her all the time - she just overthinks how to respond but doesn't want him to stop speaking to her.
That's my favorite thing about this series: there's SO much communication, but all of it feels entirely natural.
I'd initially liked that about Fragrant Flower, but after a while that series shifted from "supportive friends" to "endless speeches about positivity and acceptance and perfect reactions from everyone always," so I'm hoping this one keeps feeling like imperfect people who consistently bridge their differences by just talking to each other.
I guess it also feels more accurate to my high school experience? I had a pretty wide friend group - honor/AP students, journalism club, slacker writer friends, delinquent (but very friendly and open-minded) artists, soccer team...and we all really just hung out and chatted and got to know each other as people instead of labels. And that's the theme of this series - a lot of them are "polar opposites" in terms of personality and how they interact with the world, but that doesn't have to stop anyone from forming romantic attachments, or solid friendships.
Are all of these relationships going to last? I don't know. I don't think it matters all that much, honestly. While I can definitely picture Suzuki/Tani and Yamada/Nishi as adult married couples (a great combination of free-spirited/easygoing/fun and mature/stable/supportive), the main thing is that they're happy now, enjoying their youth and forming the types of relationships that teach them more about who they are and what they like.
Suzuki in particular is such an interesting character, because everything she loves about Tani is what she demonstrates herself. I suppose that's the point: she admired his strong sense of self and "what you see is what you get" personality, because that's who she is, too. She'd felt like she had to put on more of a front at school but is learning that anyone who matters appreciates her for who she truly is, and they don't particularly care if she looks bad in photos or acts silly or gets things wrong sometimes.
Her taking the initiative to kiss Tani after his birthday date was so cute. I just love that there isn't so much wishy-washy miscommunication with the relationships. If one of them is feeling off about something they might stew about it briefly but then they bring it up and it's fine. Which is how it should be.
Taira and Azuma are being set up as a possible third couple, but I honestly don't know if I'm that invested in them dating. Right now, both of them need to do a lot more inner work than the other characters. Taira's probably my least favorite...he's so gloomy and navel-gazing self-centered, although he's gradually opening up more, simply due to the positivity levels of those around him.
He gets along with Azuma both because she knew him before he reworked himself in high school, and because she has her own issues. Namely, a self-worth problem where she dates horrible guys, realizes they're treating her badly, but forgives them the moment they speak to her again.
"I need to treat myself better..." she starts to realize, finally, after Taira rants to her about letting people walk all over her (and then apologizes because he was projecting his own feelings and values on her). So I hope she is able to value herself more, and that Taira stops getting in his own way so much.

Retrouver la bande de Tani et Suziki, c’est retrouver une bande de copains et qui n’aime pas retrouver sa bande de potes ? 😉
J’ai donc rempilé avec plaisir pour un tome 3 des aventures lycéennes de nos héros farfelus et pourtant si proches de nous. Cette fois, l’autrice a la bonne idée d’alterner les focus entre leurs amis et notre petit couple, ce qui rend la lecture légère et dynamique.
J’ai pris plaisir à suivre la timide camarade de bibliothèque de Tani qui craque pour un de ses amis au point d’en être sans cesse rouge pivoine, et de créer un quiproquo hilarant entre les deux amoureux, parce que Tani croit que Suzuki est jalouse parce que sa collègue craquerait pour lui. Vous suivez ? xD C’était drôle, frais et léger.
Puis il y a aussi Azuma et Taira dans ce tome, deux membres de la bande qui habite sur la même ligne de métro mais n’ont rien à voir. Taira se sent en peu dépassé par ses copains qui tombent amoureux à tour de rôle. Azuma joue les filles forte en ignorant les crasses de son passé, mais Taira n’hésite pas à la soutenir et à lui dire les vérités qu’il faut pour qu’elle réalise qu’elle se dévalorise trop. Bien que classique, parce qu’on fait ça avec celle qui a des allures de Gals, j’ai aimé l’idée et les valeurs.
Enfin, à côté le couple continue son évolution. Suzuki invite Tani chez elle et bien sûr rien ne se passe comme prévu, ce qui est fort drôle. Elle se met à fantasmer. Son père rentre plus tôt que prévu. Sa mère se retrouve totalement coincé face à l’allure tout sauf loubard de Tani. Qu’est-ce que c’était amusant de les voir se casser les dents ainsi. Puis vient l’heure de l’anniversaire de Tani, moment qu’il n’aime pas du tout, mais Suzuki avec toute la fougue et la joie de vivre qu’on lui connaît lui fait dépasser cela et on les voit passer un fort joli moment ensemble au musée. C’est amusant de voir Tani gêné par le fait de toujours se laisser guider par Suzuki alors qu’elle s’en moque. On dirait vraiment un petit couple installé désormais. Reste la proximité physique qui tarde à s’imposer mais Suzuki s’en charge juste comme il faut et ça reste ultra mignon.
Entre moments de vie lycéens très drôles et fun avec leurs amis, histoires de ces derniers et avancées de notre couple, on ne s’ennuie toujours pas. C’est vraiment une lecture divertissantes légères mais avec de belles valeurs et bonnes intentions, où humour et morale se mêlent bien. Je recommande fortement pour les ados et les jeunes lecteurs !

Un concentré de bonne humeur qui fait un bien fou !
Quel plaisir de retrouver la petite bande dans ce troisième tome de Tani & Suzuki : You and I Are Polar Opposites signé Kocha Agasawa. À l’aube de l’automne, les relations évoluent et chacun semble prêt à franchir un nouveau cap.
Cette fois, Suzuki invite Tani chez elle pour la première fois. Une étape toute simple en apparence, mais qui marque un vrai tournant pour leur relation. L’occasion pour eux de se rapprocher, de mieux se connaître… et de partager ces petits moments du quotidien qui font battre le cœur un peu plus fort. De leur côté, Yamada et Nishi profitent également de cette nouvelle saison pour éclaircir les choses après un été rempli de messages maladroits et de non-dits.
Ce que j’aime toujours autant dans cette série, c’est son énergie communicative. L’histoire reste entraînante, légère et pleine de pep’s, notamment grâce au tempérament explosif et attachant de Suzuki. Impossible de ne pas sourire en suivant leurs aventures : chaque chapitre est un véritable shoot de bonne humeur.
La relation entre Tani et Suzuki continue d’avancer doucement, avec ses hésitations, ses petites maladresses et même ses premières jalousies. Mais ce qui rend leur histoire si touchante, c’est leur manière de tout affronter ensemble. Peu importe les doutes ou les situations embarrassantes, ils avancent main dans la main, et c’est incroyablement beau à voir.
En bref, ce troisième tome est un vrai petit coup de cœur. Une lecture pétillante, tendre et réconfortante qui donne la pêche et qu’on referme avec un grand sourire. J’ai déjà hâte de retrouver tout ce petit monde pour la suite

Tani & Suzuki est devenue une série shôjo que j'apprécie vraiment et que je recommande à chaque fois ! C'est drôle, frais et pétillant à souhait. L'humour fonctionne à merveille et la relation amoureuse qui se développe entre Tani et Suzuki se révèle très saine, bienveillante et rafraîchissante. Leurs personnalités sont opposés et pourtant, ils se complètent parfaitement. Ils essaient toujours d'être attentionnés l'un envers l'autre et c'est si chou, adorable et tendre à la fois. Ce troisième volume ne fait pas exception. La narration alterne entre moments de vie avec leur bande d'amis lycéens, des histoires secondaires avec ces derniers (les personnages secondaires deviennent de plus en plus développés avec leurs propres problématiques, et c'est toujours super intéressant !) et avancées dans le couple de Tani et Suzuki. En résumé ? Pas le temps de s'ennuyer ! C'est léger et divertissant en même temps, on rit, on sourit, on s'attendrit, on s'attache... Tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour passer un excellent moment. En plus de cela, c'est rempli de belles valeurs, ne serait-ce qu'avec le couple sain formé par Tani et Suzuki, on échappe aux schémas toxiques et aux gags récurrents. Une très bonne série à recommander aux jeunes et aux grands lecteurs et lectrices ! Vivement la suite.

Tani and Suzuki continue to hit new relationship milestones in volume 3 of "You and I Are Polar Opposites". Suzuki tries to introduce Tani just to her mom. Suzuki notices something is up with our possible second couple. The topic of jealousy and trust in relationships is briefly discussed with other people instead of just being an overthought internal monologue. In the cutest mini-arc of this volume, Suzuki does her best to plan for Tani's birthday while taking what he would like into considerations. Healthy relationships in manga, such a novel concept. (I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.)

More Suzuki and Tani! More of them getting closer together. More of Tani taking charge.
I think that's one of my favorite things about this. You'd think Suzuki would be the more forward going on but Tani is usually the one who reaches for Suzuki first and I am here for it.
I really liked getting more of Azuma in this volume. It really brought Taira's character out more also, which I appreciate.
I also do like Yamada but Nisshi is still meh for me.
Overall, I still enjoyed every moment of this book and it's so cute! Please read this book if you like these types of stories. You won't be disappointed.

i didn't expect for this manga to take so much time to read. my average time for a manga volume is usually around 30 minutes, but this series takes me around 45-50 minutes

Nishi struggles to make a connection with Yamada, but they’re trying and making progress anyway.
Taira is his moody self. Azu has some issues with some exes. But, Azu and Taira seem to be getting closer… in their own way.
But Suzuki and Tani are still both so cute! They keep finding little ways of being happy together, like taking pictures or going to the museum. (I wish I could do stuff like this, but all the good stuff is expensive and/or really far away)

Still going strong for this series! I liked that we checked in significantly with some of the side characters we were meeting before while still focusing on our main couple. I also thought the way certain tropes were played with but then inverted was really fun. It's still a quick read, the art is easy to follow, and the characters all feel like they have individual personalities.

I like that we got to check in with the side characters, and develop the (potential) side couple a bit more. I found Tani's unease about 'not reacting the correct way' to people (showing enough emotion/gratitude) the most relatable he's ever been, yeah I feel you bro. The ending of the birthday date was very cute as well.

They're so stinking adorable. I'm really enjoying the pureness of their relationship and getting backstory/solo interactions of their classmates/friends. Reading this series reminds me of all the random fun I had in highschool (when I wasn't in class).

The nice slow developments have been really good, plus involving the rest of the characters has been good also, when a series like this moves away from the main characters it can sometimes drop off but I don't feel this one does, so far at least!

I just love high school romance manga where there is a friendship group and we learn a little about the friends as we follow the main characters. I like the art. The main couple is so cute. They really like each other.

I really enjoyed the bit with Taira and Azuma and their middle school friends, they have such different outlooks. Also really liked the little bit about Jump Festa at the end, sounds like a fun event! We definitely need more shounen like this one, even if shoujo needs more of a boost too!
