Holy Hunger: A Journey into Fasting

Rate this book
A gentle and biblical guide to fasting for the busy, 21st-century life; 'invaluable' for the modern believer.

“When you fast…” Jesus of Matthew 6:16

What is fasting? How does it work? Are we still called to do it today? Where do I start? How do I know I’m doing it right?

Holy Hunger by Andrew Paterson explores these frequently asked questions about Christian fasting, and more, as he
seeks to demystify one of our least talked about, but most powerful, spiritual disciplines.

‘Holy Hunger reclaims fasting as a sacred, transformative discipline for the modern believer, laced with honesty, biblical
depth and pastoral warmth.’ Dave Newton, National Director - Scripture Union England and Wales

‘The biblical case Andrew makes is compelling, the practical guidance is comprehensive, and the pastoral wisdom, invaluable.’ Mark Pugh, General Superintendent - Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance

Andrew presents a clear and well thought out examination of fasting, for any Christian to engage with. As someone who is no stranger to this spiritual practice, I found Andrew’s exploration of it refreshingly simple, honest, and challenging. This is a Biblically sound book that doesn’t insist on being theologically dense.

If you’ve never fasted before, read this book.

If you fast regularly, read this book.

If you think fasting is not for today’s Christian, read this book.
