After a whirlwind week of hot sex and growing affection, Nicole and Gabriel were forced to part ways and to return to real life. For a while they danced around each other, meeting up when they could, the distance between them rivaled only by their desire to be together again.

Now these lovers are no longer star-crossed. They’re in the same city at the same time and can finally indulge their insatiable passion. At least until Gabriel’s increasingly popular band goes on tour.

But the ticking clock of his budding music career isn’t the only obstacle to contend with. A blast from Gabriel’s wild past, a guy that kept Nicole warm in Gabriel’s absence, and fear of what the future holds all converge just as they’ve begun to realize this might be love…

Author's Note: This book contains strong language and sexual content with dark elements, some of which readers may find uncomfortable.

This review is based on an ARC received for an honest review

So you know how in figure skating the judges give out scores twice? Once for Technical accomplishment and once for artistic? Well, this is kinda how I ended up feeling when I was struggling with how to rate this book. And struggle I did.

On Technical merits, this book gets very high marks. The writing is strong and assured. This is a work of erotica. So the sex scenes are plentiful -- plentiful -- and they are explicit and they are well done. On the characterization front, the author does a good job of crafting two distinct people and getting you into their emotional head-space. This is the sort of writing you want to be reading -- descriptive, emotional and interesting.

On the Artistic merits, however, this is where I struggled. And to be fair when I use the term 'artistic' is isn't in reference to the author's vision, but rather how the book spoke to me. How did I feel about these people? Did I understand and enjoy them? Do the ups and down of their love story grab me and make me want to root for them? And I think it is in that sense this book didn't really 100% succeed for me.

This is the second installment of a serialized story following the love story of Nicole and Gabriel. She is a recent college grad who had been in love with and fascinated with Gabriel for years. Gabriel is a few years older than Nicole and is just on the cusp of reaching commercial success with his rock band.

The first book of the series, #1 Crush, is an erotic novella that introduces them to the reader and allows them to recognize their attraction to each other and scratch a sexual itch. It ends with them going their separate ways, having agreed that the sex was fun but they each have other priorities. That book was pure erotica and a sort of appetizer for this meatier dish.

In this book, Nicole and Gabriel re-enter each other's orbit. Nicole is much more into Gabe emotionally than he is to her at first. They hook up again and their sexual attraction is immediate and strong. From there they continue to use sex to feed their emotional attachment until the two start to build something deeper and fall in love.

Because this is a serialized work, this installment doesn't dot all the romantic I's and cross all the Happy T's. This is another segment in their road happiness, but it isn't the end of it. And therein I think lies my larger problem.

Since the story doesn't end here, the romantic conflict felt somewhat manufactured. The internal conflict at first is just that Nic and Gabe can't admit to each other they love each other. This went on for awhile and it got a little tedious. They simply couldn't communicate. When they finally could admit their feelings, you knew that something else was going to come along and muck it up. And it did. I actually recoiled from some of the actions of the characters in the last 10% of the book. Honestly, it kind of put me off them. Nicole came off as immature and honestly rather stupid and easily manipulated. Gabe fared much better and I was really on team Gabe here. But in the end my overall feeling as I was reading wasn't that there was a strong, believable obstruction between the couple and their HEA that I wanted to see them work through, but rather they here was a conflict to throw in to get them to the next book.

So in that sense I think the serialization aspect works against my own emotional involvement in the story.

I do recommend this to readers who like really sexy erotica with an angsty emotional component and don't mind serialization.

"Wow" was all I could think when I read the last paragraph of CLOSER. In this part of the series we get to witness the tremulous beginning of a real relationship between Nicole and Gabriel. A little time has passed from the ending of #1 CRUSH. Nicole has finished college, found a full time job in New York, and is on her own. Gabriel is fully investing himself in his music career and moving forward. Now that their attraction is out in the open Nicole and Gabriel are free to explore each other in every way possible and I do mean every-way-possible. Any limited inhibitions that Nicole may have had are definitely gone. She and Gabriel go at it like rabbits. Gabriel is slowly showing Nicole a kinkier and more aggressive side of himself and she is lapping it up. Gabriel's sexual desires have a darker bent that is slowly coming to light. I freely admit that I am a bit surprised at how full blown erotic the relationship is between two relatively young people, but hey, what do I know?

Although the descriptive sex is plentiful throughout CLOSER Bennett does bring more actual relationship development in this one. Gabriel and Nicole become exclusive and try to make a relationship that will have to endure periods of separation work. A tentative trust is built between them but it is also tested pretty quickly. A specter from Gabriel's past appears in the form of Meredith, a woman that he was involved with before Nicole and who is now back in his life in a way that she can't be easily avoided. Meredith is so freaking unlikable that I found myself gritting my teeth every single time that she had any interaction with Nicole. She is manipulative, deceptive, and selfish and is the perfect nemesis for Nicole. They are complete opposites and she had my palm itching to slap someone!

Nicole is tempted to go further outside of what she's comfortable with all because she thinks it would please Gabriel. She falls into the trap of self doubt that so many young women find themselves in when trying to please someone else more than themselves. Self confidence and a lack of a bigger sense of self worth are issues Nicole wrestles with in this one. Gabriel on the other hand wrestles with the fear of letting Nicole see who he once was even though he has moved forward from his past. Gabriel doesn't trust that someone can love him enough to accept his failures and mistakes and give him credit for who he is now.

Bennett has definitely delivered again! She has presented another installment that left me twitching a bit as I finished because it does end in a cliffhanger. Luckily for me I came into this series at the very end and the third and final book, MIND OVER MATTER, is out today!

I HATED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. If I could give it a ten negative stars I would. The heroine is an idiot; the hero is not just an idiot but a jerk as well.

I read this book because of the number of high reviews, and *%$@ am I pissed I did. If I offend anyone with my review, I'm sorry. Kind of.

I'm so pissed off I'm going to go clean something.

SOOOO GOOD

Modern, non-cliche, and on the money. Modern dating mores involves just hooking up. But what do you do about those feelings when they turn from unrequited love to lust to love? As modern and cool as we try to be, our base need for support, security, and love never change. This is what Kaia Bennett has hit on the head. This series isn't your typical IR, paint-by-numbers serial. This series is modern, fresh, realistic, and pretty darn hot. I would suggest reading #1 Crush first. This book is absolutely not a stand alone. You need all the info from book 1 to engage in this follow up.

I had the honor of beta reading this awesome authors work and that is exactly what closer is its awesome.
in #1 crush we seen nicole and Gabe cross that line of sexual attraction to only decided it was better to just remain friends and they went their separate ways Gabe with his band, Nicole to finish school, in closer we get to see them meet back up Gabe's band is getting signed to a major record deal and of course he wants to share it with nicole. he let's her know that he will be in town and would love to see her, and of course she says yes. see nicole has always wanted to be more than friends with gabe, she just didn't want to hold him back. let me tell you as soon as they see each other it gets hot. Gabe loves dirty talking and he is so good at it. This book speaks sex it is HOT I felt myself blush reading it. Gabe and Nicole have always promised to be honest with each other, so while they are spending all this time together nicole meets Meredith "mere" and notices how Gabe stiffens up when ever she's around, when nicole mention it he tells her they slept together no big deal it's the past, but the truth is Gabe has a very purcular taste in sex and is afraid that if nicole learns the truth she leave. will gabe confess the truth, will his love for her be enough for both. will nicole confess her true feelings and can she trust him with hers. Omg this book kept my attention with every page I turned Gabe is sexy dominate male who you just want to lick (fanning myself ). This book brings back characters from #1 crush and they interact perfectly together. can't wait to see what's in store next for Nicole and gabe. awesome job definitely a must read and you do need to read #1 crush first. 5 out of 5.

**ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**

I'm not gonna lie, I don't like cliffhangers. And it's not even cliffhangers, it's mostly stories that span the length of 2 to 3 and sometimes more books to tell the story of two people. Why? Because when you have full length novels like these, you run the risk of people loosing interest after one or two books. So the story better be damn engaging. AND IT IS! I couldn't get enough of these two from page one, book one! This is a powerful story of the growth of two people as individuals AND as a relationship that spans some time. It's not a quickie. YES, since the moment Nicole laid her eyes on Gabriel, she knew she wanted him. AND the same goes for Gabriel. But sometimes (actually always), life happens and you gotta roll with it....

OK, so not only is this book a roller-coaster of twist and turns and ups and downs, but the whole series is like this. BUT IT'S GOOD. Because life is messy, kids. And if you don't think it is, then you probably haven't lived enough just yet to get that! LOL I LOVED that Nicole and Gabriel were not easy. It made it real to me. It made it realistic and relatable. #AWESOMENESS!

So Closer picks up about a year or so after #1 Crush ends. And before you ask, of course you have to read it first! But trust me, it is no hardship. You'll want to see how these two came together. How powerful their connection was from the very beginning. Because as their 'relationship' unfolds in this book, they become even more powerful. (If I've lost you, it's because you haven't read the books and you have to do that, RIGHT NOW!)
OK, so even tho these two belong together, they went their separate ways at the end of #1 Crush. Neither wanted to hold the other back in life so they decided that was the best course of action at that time. But now it is now. Nicole has got her college degree and is back home living closer to her sister and Gabriel's music is about to go thru the roof with a new record deal and tour on the horizon. Life is good, right? So let's DO THIS ..... again, life is never that easy LOL But Nicole and Gabriel do try. How could they not? Their chemistry is insane! The sex scenes between these two left me speechless. I was wow'd over and over again by every one. These two had POWER together. And if you pay close attention, you will see that Nicole and Gabriel never just have sex, oh no, they connect. Deeply and irrevocably! As you read thru these scenes, you get to know the real Gabriel. And he is INTENSE, with a side of kink LOL The man can dirty talk with the best of them!
There's an outside force introduced to us that the only way I can describe is EVIL, and she goes by the name 'Mere'. JESUS, but this woman needed a good spanking (and not the good kind!) You see, Gabriel's darker sexual desires has had him turn to Mere in the past and she uses this to really try and (insert inappropriate foul word but yet SO appropriate) with what Nicole and Gabriel are trying to build ..... aaaaaaand cue our Closer cliffy! That's all the story you get from me :) but I would be remiss if I did not touch on Kaia Bennett and her MADD writing skills! Her style is confident and strong. Her characters are well developed and not lacking. Every person and or scene makes sense. Nothing is put in for fluff. The sex is erotic, explicit, engaging and abundant :) And lastly, the pacing of the book is done exceedingly well. And even tho I have enjoyed the heck out of Nicole and Gabriel, my anxiety cannot take much more and I will be VERY happy when Mind Over Matter releases and we get our much awaited HEA!

I don't think I fully appreciated the love making in book 1, #1 Crush but let me tell you I totally enjoyed all the kinky sex going on in this book.
The dominance in his nature was familiar. But this sinister edge was something new.
Another difference immediately noticed was a storyline that melded characters interactions and feelings together in more of cohesive storyline without feeling rushed by the end.

I liked Gabriele from the moment he was introduced in #1 Crush and loved him in Closer. Gabriele is by no means a man without faults and for him life is either black or white- no grey areas. So when he wanted a no strings attach relationship with Nic I was frustrated to no end. Gabriele's communication skills also frustrated me. To be fair, Nic had me shaking my head too. One particular scene had me so dumbfounded I felt like pulling my hair out.

Damn I love this series. I'm trying to write this review without giving spoilers away because I think the series is addicting. With that being said, I will say linger questions from #1 Crush are addressed and true to serials other questions will be posed. Because of these new questions and the epilogue I can't wait for part 3, Mind Over Matter because not only do I NEED more but as the gif states:

description

I recommend The Loose Ends series to anyone who likes mind games, descriptive sex, a hero with a dark side, a heroine who walks a fine line of doing whatever it takes to make her man happy, supporting characters that add fun/laughs, & an all around engaging read. If this works for you, then #1 Crush and Closer are for your reading enjoyment.

Book 2 in the Loose End Series. I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review.

In book 2 we pick up with Nicola and Gabriel with their friends with benefits relationship. They hook up for sex whenever they can and are seeing other people in-between. Eventually they realise they want to be together and enter into a relationship. They are mostly honest with each other and are building a relationship that should be based on trust and honesty. Again every chapter has a erotic scene.

An Ex hook-up buddy of Gabriel's deliberately tries to sabotage the relationship between Nicole and Gabriel. I believe that they both allowed this person to come in and drop a bomb in their lives because Nicole was too naive not to see this person wanted to destroy her relationship and Gabriel because he lied by omission.

I have to say I did find the story frustrating. Nicola and Gabriel are supposed to be building their relationship on trust, they have that in the bedroom but when they really needed it outside of the bedroom, it was shockingly lacking. The story towards the end was a real emotional roller coaster and I felt dissatisfied with the ending.

I now have to wait for book 3 to find out how this story ends!

omg! OMG!!
Closer is the much anticipated sequel to #1 Crush. When I read #1 Crush, the book was so hot, I had to remove layers of clothing. And Closer did not disappoint. Goodness, it was hotter! I didn't want this book to end. Kaia Bennett really did her thing with this. I need to get inside her head...or maybe I don't...but omg!!! I just finished reading an ARC and this is my honest review. This book is amazing. I swear, her writing style becomes clearer with each book she releases. And she gets better and better. She is my author crush. She's just that good! Now, I am waiting for part three and I know she's going to deliver!! Keep crushing, Kaia!!!

Full disclosure - I was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the author. Where to begin... First off, this is why I don't like serials. I don't like cliffhangers. I don't like having to wait to find out what happens. I just don't like it. But this author hooked me on her writing with Sunday so I put aside my misgivings and now I almost wish I hadn't. Dayyyuum this book put me through the wringer. So this takes place about a year or so after Gabriel and Nicole first hook up in #1 Crush and yes, you have to read that one first! Nicole has graduated college and moved to NY to be closer to her sister, Jackie and Jackie's boyfriend, Ian. Gabriel's music is about to take off. They have seen each other on and off and are doing the friends thing but they both know that they are taking different paths and there's no time to even think about a relationship. Nicole is doing her thing and as she says at one point "is having her needs taken care of." And Gabriel is clearly doing his thing but the connection they forged during that time Nicole was visiting her sister from college is still there. There is a line early on in the book that states that Nicole is brave. And goodness yes, this girl is brave. So they are now in the same place at the same time and they re-connect. And every time they are together, flames shot out of my Kindle. At one point, I was thinking - is there too much sex because they are going at it constantly - and there is a funny line in chapter 12 where Gabriel is thinking to himself "he should be fresh out of come from fucking around with this girl...." and I am thinking, yep, you should be out of come, buddy!! But see, if you read those scenes carefully, there is a deeper connection being forged every time they make love. There's a dynamic brewing between these two that highlights some "preferences" if you will or maybe darker desires. I don't want to say the d/s words because immediately people think of handcuffs and floggers. That's not what this is about. Gabriel and Nicole find something in each other sexually that fulfills a need that is just otherworldly in its intensity. They scarily complete each other and connect on a primal, elemental level. Might not make sense but the author takes the reader down this road and you might say, damn but isn't this sexing all the time just too much. But you have to let this play out because it just underscores the combustible nature of their relationship and illuminates why they should be together. And this is where Nicole's bravery comes in. She is scared but allows herself to become what Gabriel needs because she needs it too. She owns her sexuality and is not ashamed. We find out bits and pieces about Gabriel's past through a venomous young woman named Meredith or Mere, a fellow musician. And I have to say at about the 87% point I nearly DNFed. OMG this woman just made me so mad and I was mad at the author for going in this direction. But I rode the wave and finished and am left with a cliffhanger, and I am mildly pissed and no knowledge of when the 3rd book, Mind Over Matter, is to be released. But that's my issue. We do get a bit of MOM at the end. The book is exceedingly well written. Deeply erotic. Well done character driven romance. Great pacing. Clearly defined secondary characters - Chase, Nuke, Jonny and the others are wonderful guys. Jackie and Ian are still hilarious. But the slow burn of the development of the dynamic between Nicole and Gabriel is what has you mesmerized. You have this laser focus on those two and almost forget about the other characters. We get both of their POVs so you are clear about what each is thinking. A minor quibble and it did not detract from my score, but I would have loved more information about where they lived. All we know is they live in NY. Well I am an experiential reader and want descriptions of places and spaces and I didn't necessarily get there here. Probably because I am from NY so wanted to imagine their surroundings, but alas, did not get that. But just a minor quibble.

So if you are looking for a solidly written romance, with lots of heat, complex relationships, and yet another kick-ass heroine from Ms. Bennett, you won't be disappointed.

Warning, if you are easily embarrassed, not able to deal with extremely graphic sexual encounters that border on rough and animalistic or do not like brutality in your sex scenes, this is not for you. That said, if you like the down and dirty aspects of explicit sex, you are in for a treat of sensations, visual and mental close ups and the power of the physical act of sexual intimacy.

Gabriele is an up and coming rockstar, with a dark and animalistic side that needs to be in control, needs to show his feelings through rough behavior. He also has a very possessive streak that overcomes all that is Nicole. Together they are such a dynamic duo between the sheets that fire alarms must be going off all over town. But do they have what it takes to face the mundane day to day world of being a couple? Is Nicole becoming too dependent on Gabriele's approval to live for herself or find her own path in life?

Looking to know more about the people involved or where they live, what they do outside of their sexual needs? It isn’t here, but Kaia Bennett’s Closer does profile the intimate relationship in spades. I, myself, would like to understand the characters as people, how they live, where they live and what happens with them when not in the throes of their sexual antics.

This installment picks up about a year after Nicole and Gabe went their separate ways. Nicole has graduated college and settling into her life while Gabe is finally getting his music career off the ground.

They have kept in touch and hook up whenever they see each other. But what will happen now that they live in the same area?

Well, you guessed it--a whole lot of sex!!!

Now don't get me wrong..this installment has the explicit, hot, hot, hot sex of the previous installment but let's just say that it's been taken up a notch and it's been mixed with quite a bit of angst.

Now that their encounters are more frequent and even more intense, Nicole and Gabe find themselves conflicted and trying to keep their emotions at bay. Nicole because she doesn't want to get hurt if Gabe doesn't return her feelings and Gabe because he doesn't know what the hell is happening to him emotion-wise.

Nicole had grown quite a bit in that year apart apart, but she's still susceptible to Gabe. She wants to please him and struggles with her independence and the urge to be meet Gabe needs.

They manage to keep it somewhat together, but they still hold back emotionally. And this goes on for a while until Gabe's commitments take him on the road and away from Nicole. And this is where the drama just went overboard and it all came crashing down for me.

I understand the need for angst and drama in a story. Hell, I love angst and drama in a story but only if it's necessary and helps to develop the characters and strengthen their connection. Sadly, this is not the case here. For me, it just served to show Nicole and Gabe's unwillingness to communicate and how little they have come to know one another.

Regardless of Gabe's needs and Nicole's willingness to please him, if what they shared was truly real they wouldn't have found themselves in that type of situation. I just couldn't accept it which only led me to lose interest in their 'relationship' and not care one way or another how these two were going to fare along the way.

GABE AND NICOLE BURNING UP THE PAGES!! THIS WAS AWESOME AND I FRIGGING LOVED IT. It was hot steamy and erotic. It was intense. It was tasteful. It was sexy. It was wild. It was naughty. It was love. Pages and pages of hot steamy love scenes I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what happen next.

This is a full length book about Gabriel and Nicole committing to an exclusive relationship, their journey together and the obstacles they had to overcome to achieve happiness. Gabriel the true alpha who had secrets he thought would ruin his relationship with Nicole and Nicole who was so sweet and lovable. She had doubts but all she wanted to do was love Gabe and do whatever it took to make him happy. She also had a craven for something more and he was just the guy to give it to her. Their chemistry was off the charts. She followed willingly and Gabe pushed her to her limit.

This book was jammed packed with sexy erotic love scenes. Usually I'd yell "enough already!" when there are so many love scene in one book but this was not so. There were no repeated scene and I soaked it all up hoping for more. I FRIGGING LOVED IT!

Kaia Bennett grabbed my attention from her first book was released and this one was no different. Like I said after reading #1 Crush I'm committed to reading this series. Now I suggest you hurry and get your copy. This is one you won't want to miss if you are a fan of all things erotic.

I would like to thank Kaia for giving me the honor of being one of the few lucky persons to be gifted with an ARC. Thank you.

***ARC copy for and honest review***

In Closer, we meet up with Gabriel and Nicole again from Ms Bennett's Loose Ends Series. They're are still trying to figure out their complicated relationship. Nicole has graduated from college, and Gabriel's music career is finally taking off. Whenever the two of them meet up the magnetic pull between the to of them is to hard deny. They are finally in the same place, and realize that the love they have for one another is worth fighting for. Gabe and Nicole are finally happy together, but will their love be strong to fight off a part of Gabriel's past that has decided she wants to be a part of is future too.

I loved getting better acquainted with Gabriel and Nicole. In the first book Nicole was just coming into her own, but in book 2 she seems more sure of herself, and willing to go after what she wants. I also like seeing Gabriel open up to Nicole about his feelings and letting her see his softer side. Watching their relationship grow was very sweet, and the sex scenes were hot. The love making scenes were definitely not for the faint at heart. The story flowed well from the beginning to the end. My favorite part was when Gabriel told Nicole that he loved her. I really felt the emotions coming through in that scene. My least favorite part was when Nicole started to second guess Gabriel's commitment to her. I was sad to see this story end because I'm let wondering what happens next, but I can't wait to find out. I'm definitely looking forward to book 3.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. When I received this book I did not realize I had not read part one of this but this didn't not impact my ability to follow this part of the story.

In this part of the story Gabriel has just realized that Nicole might have just moved on past him. There is a part of him that wants her to do this so that she can have a normal life which is something he doesn't feel he can give her the bigger the band gets. However the other part of him knows she is it for him and wants her with him and only him.

Nicole only wants Gabriel and when he calls her and her friend answers she feels a little bad for making him kinda jealous but she knows he is it for her if she can just get him to see it to. In this book Nicole will get Gabriel to see how good they can be together but the problems come when she isn't sure she is enough for him, and he ins't sure she will stay when he shows her all of him. This book ends with another book to come so there are no real conclusions in this book but it does end in a good spot so that as a reader you aren't left completely hanging.

This book is amazing whether you have read the first book Crush or not. I would recommend this book because you will be hooked from the first word till the very end.

It does not happen often where I actually end up liking the second or third installment in a series more. However, I liked this book better than the first book!

Closer was all about Gabriel and Nicole taking a chance on each other. They had some challenges to work out but eventually got there. I really enjoyed the interactions between the two including the sex, which again was smokin' hot! Kaia Bennett can really write some scorching scenes that will have you fanning yourself. Gab and Nic continue to explore their sexual dynamic and they get to know each other better. Knowing each other better unfortunately ends up causing some drama that has impact on the couple.

Why Not 5 Stars?

The final drama/controversy - I was not a fan of the final drama/controversy that happened at the end of the book. Why? Because it sets the stage for book 3 to be in a place that I will not enjoy I just do not like it.

Gabriel Wish List - I wanted to see some of Gabriel's dominant qualities come out outside of the bedroom. Don't get me wrong, I loved his character, but wanted to read about him embracing his inner alpha more.

Closer by Kaia Bennett is a slow-burning, emotional romance with a focus on the complexities of relationships, passion, and the challenges of balancing love with personal ambitions and explores the darker aspects of human nature.

I enjoyed the first book as much as the first time I read it but I’m not enjoying this book so I’m going to DNF it at 61%. I won’t be finishing this series.

Reasons why I’m DNF’ng this book:

- Graphic sex in every other chapter. Every time the couple in this book is alone, they’re having sex. I found it boring to read. I’ve watched porn before but I felt like I was reading porn instead of watching it and I felt uncomfortable reading those chapters. It was just too much. I didn’t need to know all the details about what they were doing.
- The couple in this book has sexual chemistry but they don’t have romantic chemistry.
- They’re boyfriend and girlfriend now but I’m not buying it. They’re not acting like a normal couple. They’re acting more like they’re Friends With Benefits. It doesn’t make any sense to me and I can’t suspend my disbelief. How am I supposed to be emotionally invested in their relationship when they’re not acting any differently than they were before?

Its getting hot in here!!!

After reading the first book I could not wait to read book two! Nicole and Gabe were back and hotter than ever. If Im 100% honest there isnt a really deep background story to this couple but just their love and relationship gets me going, their interactions are just written so well and all you want is for them to be together ! I think Kaia Bennett may be the best person ever to write a sex scene. The sex is just ridiculously hot and I can bot get over all that dirty talk. Recommend this to anyone whole LOVES some spice!

Closer

It's been a while since Nicole has seen Gabriel. It seems like no time has passed when they get together. Gabriel's band is getting signed and making a record to touring. He's falling in love with Nicole but worried she doesn't feel the same. Plus his past is catching up. Can these two be together? Great read.

I have been dying to get my hands on Closer by Kaia Bennett since I finished #1 Crush. I needed more of Gabe and Nic, and couldn't wait to see what happened next for these two! If you haven't read #1 Crush, you are definitely going to need to start there since these aren't standalones. Closer picks up after where we were left with Gabe and Nic and continues their story. I will warn you that these books leave things up in the air as there are three books in this series. I am now waiting for the third book in this series, Mind Over Matter, which is tentatively scheduled for a July 2015 release.

After spending a week exploring the passion between them, Gabe and Nic went their separate ways. Gabe was pursuing a career in music, and Nic had just graduated from college. Though the time they spent together was great, they knew they weren't in a place for anything serious with one another. But when Gabe and Nic are suddenly back in the same city, they quickly pick up where they left off. Gabe's career is starting to take off, and his band has just been signed. But with things heating up between him and Nic, he wants to give a relationship a chance. Nic agrees, and things are better than ever. But the band's popularity isn't the only new obstacle these two have to face, and suddenly Gabe's past is doing everything it can to wreck his future with Nic.

I had loved Gabe and Nic in the first book, and that didn't change here. I will say these two frustrated me more in this one though, and there were a few times I wanted to shake both of them. I loved that these two had been able to be so open and honest about things between them. They knew they had a connection and chemistry, but they were also able to see that they weren't in a position for anything serious. While they might have been jealous that there were others, they understood and it didn't destroy their friendship. I was glad that they had remained close and didn't hold that against one another. I thought that their communication in this book was absolutely horrible though. Gabe was the worst when it came to this, and he held a ton back from Nic. I thought his reasons were flimsy at best, and I think that it was a lot of his fault for most of the problems that they encountered. That being said, towards the end of this book Nic really screwed up in my opinion. She acted really immature and handled things very poorly. Though part of the blame was on Gabe, I really felt that she was more to blame for their big blow-up. He should have talked to her, but she acted pretty ridiculous to me.

These two still had great chemistry and I liked seeing their bond strengthen as their feelings for each other grew deeper. But I felt like they needed to learn to talk to each other. I think part of this was an age thing, but that only takes it so far. I think that they could have solved so much just by being honest. Gabe's ex Meredith was also a huge issue, and I absolutely hated her! She is such a manipulator, and you could tell that she gets off on it. I don't know why they let her have so much power over them, but a lot of that blame goes to Gabe for not talking to Nic about his past. I really hope that this is the last we see of her and that karma gets her. I am looking forward to the next book and need to know what happens next. I think that these two are made for each other, but the journey is far from over. I am a little bit scared if I am honest, having been given a preview of the third book at the end of Closer. I am trying to have faith that Kaia Bennett will get these two where they need to be, but it is going to be a long few months. I think that this series is great though, and these two have so much passion between them. If you are looking for a seriously sexy story, then you have to give this series a shot. I know I will be anxiously awaiting the next book from Kaia Bennett, and can't wait for more!

******* To read Closer you first have to read #1 Crush***********

Closer is a continuation of Nicole and Gabe's story.

Nicole and Gabriel have decided that they will continue on as just being friends with a side of benefits. Nicole has finished college and is now living in the big city. Just like most college graduates, Nicole is having a hard time finding a job in the field she graduated, so for now, she is working at a furniture store to make ends meet. Gabe is out on the road fulfilling his dream with his band, Fool The World. The band is starting to get noticed and offered more and more gigs. The only time Nicole and Gabriel get to see each other is when Gabe is in town, which isn't as often as either would like.

Gabriel's band gets a break from the road to go home and enjoy a little down time. That down time is spent with Nicole, and finding out that Fool The World is about to become a big deal. They are offered a record deal, which means more traveling and being away from home more often. But for a now Gabriel gets to stay home and record the album for the bands new record label.

Nicole and Gabriel spend every moment they possibly can together. For Nicole it's becoming harder and harder for her to hide what she really wants with Gabe, a relationship. Gabriel is also fighting with his feelings for Nicole. He finally realizes that he could never picture Nicole with anyone else but him and makes Nicole his.

Gabe nor Nicole realized all the bumps in the road their new found relationship would contain. Are they strong enough to survive ex-lovers reappearing, jealousy, untold truths, Gabriel being on the road, and trust issues? Well.... you will just have to read to find out.

Ms. Bennett writes another sizzling tale about a couple you just can't help but be addicted to. Gabriel and Nicole's relationship is hot and steamy, complicated, and full of angst. There were several times I wanted to smack the both of them and just say, "say what you feel already!" I also loved that characters from #1 Crush made appearances and I got to see what they were all up to.

Now with the way Closer ended I'm itching to get my hands on book three in the series, great job Kaia with keeping me on my toes!

Wow. Okay, well, I was finally able to stop clutching my pillow - after doing it solidly for somewhere in between three to five minutes after I finished Closer - long enough to grab my phone to write this review. The ending just completely left me heartbroken and raw and I kind of just want to cry into my pillow, maybe watch some Veronica Mars and forget about this book for a little while. But even with wanting to do all that and knowing all the details - although I knew what the end result would be anyway because I read the synopsis for Mind Over Matter before I could stop myself - I don't regret reading Closer.

Oh, Gabriel, I loved him in #1 Crush and there are times in Closer that I really love the guy and times like right now where I don't hate him, but he's definitely not my favorite person. He doesn't do anything unforgivable and I'm honestly not mad at him, I'm just more sad than anything else and feel like he let Nicole and me down. Of course, just because I'm not mad him now doesn't mean that I never did get angry with him - because I did. He made me yell at him and want to smack him for being such a turkey face! Ugh! I know if I'm having a hard time remembering why I love him after all that, you're probably wondering how I ever loved him in the beginning or why you should take a chance on him and I'll tell you why. The reason is that in spite of all of the completely non-smart, boneheaded moves he makes, Gabriel is a good guy who loves Nicole.

Gosh, Nicole is such a great heroine, I really loved her. She's strong and brave, honest and caring, and understanding and patient. She's totally sweet, fiercely passionate, and undeniably a good person. Nicole isn't perfect and I didn't always agree with her, but she's really just amazing.

Closer took me on wild roller coaster ride full of highs and lows and twists and turns. It broke my heart and made it pound, made me nervous and worried, but also made me laugh and smile. I gasped the good gasp, I melted and felt light and happy. I know I haven't made Closer seem very fun to read, but it is and I enjoyed it way more than I didn't.

Closer is the second book in this series and it should be read after #1 Crush. It is told from Gabriel and Nicole's POV and it does end in a cliffhanger with no HEA yet, but I'm hoping for one in Mind Over Matter.

I enjoyed the first book of this series #1 Crush, and I was excited to finally read the next book in this series. Real life had forced Nicole and Gabriel to part ways, nevertheless, it didn’t stop them from communicating and meeting up every now and then.

When a chance of them finally being together arrived, both of them grabbed it. For a while, they were happy. Nicole has some insecurities, but she never lets in the way, because Gabriel was always assuring her. But she couldn’t help to feel that he was still keeping something from her.

And that something was his past, something that he was not proud of, something he wished to bury, something he was afraid that Nicole couldn’t understand or take. But it was something that was haunting him right now.

One important thing about relationships is honesty. People who truly love you will accept even your darkest side, no judgment. But when you start to keep secrets, trust is compromise – it could get broken. Hearts could get broken, and relationships would crumble.

CLOSER is hotter, sexier, mixed with some interesting characters that you will both love and hate. Like the first book, I finished this one in one sitting, and although the ending did break my heart, I couldn’t wait for the next one in the series. Kaia Bennett, you’re killing me with the sneak peek!

I read #1 Crush and had to keep the party going with Closer!  I'm a sucker for second chance romances so I had to see if there was an HEA for Nicole and Gabe.  First let me say this story was HOT!!! Gabe is a BEAST and Nicole is a down chick for keeping up with him and his appetite!  DAMN! He also has a foul mouth, so my tongue was wagging with excitement as I read.  There are twists, turns, and a healthy dose of drama and angst that make a recipe for a great read.

What I liked about Gabe and Nicole was their chemistry! From the beginning you can tell their feelings for each other have not simmered down.  They still have strong feelings for each other even after being apart for so long.  They play this cat and mouse game that is a little frustrating to read, but understandable since Gabe has a budding music career.  You want them to be together because the passion and emotions between them is so raw.  Gabe has certain needs that Nicole fulfills the best she can, but falters in her decisions and her insecurities rear their ugly heads.  Here's my thing with these two, they tip toed around being honest and putting all their feelings on the table where I felt like after what they had previously been through, they should have reached that point.   Even though they decide to give their relationship a try, they end up doing what they do best, END THINGS, which made my head explode!!! Ugh!!!  I put my Psychiatrist hat on and wanted both of them to lay down on my couch and just talk through all their problems.  But, Gabe and Nicole's relationship is a hard dose of reality and begs the question is love enough? The answer should be simple but it really isn't and I think that's what Kaia is trying to expose with their story.  I'm emotionally invested in Gabe and Nicole so I have to see how their story pans out in book 3!  Even though there's a cliffhanger, Kaia has hooked me, and I can't let go.  I can't wait for more in Mind Over Matter!

I received this ARC in return for an honest review.....and oh my Lord!

This read is hot, decadent and insanely delicious. But I should also point out that Closer is not meant for the faint hearted. Especially if you are not a fan of erotica. For those that are, this may definitely be your poison of choice.

When the lead characters, Nicole Langley and Gabriel Roberts, indulged in their week filled nights (and days) of debauchery in #1 Crush, they quickly realized that their chemistry was more than just sex. Especially when Gabriel discovers that he no longer knows who he is anymore. At least with Nicole his life begins to make sense.

Their evolving relationship isn't as smooth sailing as their 'Darling Nikki' moment (readers will need to read Loose Ends #1 to understand what I mean). It seems like their past lovers and the lives that want to lead are also trying to tear them apart. But in the end it's the words they can't say that begins to undo everything they want.

This book was absolutely brutal on my senses. It made my open my eyes, ok and my libido, to what exists beyond the now and that not all erotica is driven by pleasures of the flesh.

I believe Kaia Bennett did a brilliant job in writing this installment. The sex scenes were fierce, the camaraderie potent and the heartache devastating. If ever you want a new adventure, I suggest you try this one. But be prepared, once you start, you will never want to stop.

Happy Reading

*** Happily received an ARC of Closer, so here is honest my review***

Closer was an amazing sequel to #1 Crush. The first book was and introduction. Nicole and Gabriel's unique relationship had just started. They were each getting to know a different, more wild side of one another, exploring an intimate relationship without all the pressure of an actual relationship.
In Closer, their relationship gets deeper. More intense. More emotional.
After parting ways and deciding to just stay "friends" Nicole and Gabriel, both having busy lives, now only had time for sporadic hookups. Hookups that were sizzling and grew in intensity, on a more emotional scale. Both Nicole and Gabriel continually skated around their growing feelings for each other, until finally, they both stopped living in denial and officially decided that they each wanted more. The tension and build up between Nicole and Gabriel was gut tightening. You couldn't wait for them to get together. And you actually got to go through the motions with them. Follow their journey and see all the obstacles that they faced. Closer was a great sequel and an extremely good book! I highly recommend you read it if you want to continue Nicole and Gabriel's story!
Kaia Bennett is a brilliant and beautifully descriptive writer who sets the scene for you, really paints the picture, while tapping in to all your senses. Mrs. Bennett's writing style is easy to read while at the same time being very detailed and eloquent. It's really good, descriptive writing that makes the story flow smoothly. I finished the book in about 3 days! I could not put it down! I absolutely loved it!
