Sloane Monroe Stories - Mystery Novella Series (with characters from the main series)
This is a good quick (under 2 hour) read. It's not quite a mystery in the usual sense. It follows an 80 year old man as is lies in bed... dead. (Waiting for emergency services to reach them.) His family is there and he can hear them all talk, so he's not sure if this is the afterlife or what is happening. One by one they all step into his room. All grieving. All confessing secrets they no longer need to keep from him. Through it all, he lies there. Unmoving. Yet he can hear them and smell then and feel them. Surly her isn't dead. Right? This is the second book in the series. Each a standalone, and can be read in any order. It's well written with not too much character depth/development or backstory, as it is a novella. The story moves along quickly, yet each scene seems to be slower paced (if that makes any sense.) :D It's a clean and safe read for most all ages.
Oh my goodness! I am really liking this series of short stories. This one is very good and I highly recommend it. Thanks to the author Cheryl Bradshaw for the advanced copy to read and review.
