Downstream: Episode 3: A time travel story

Rate this book
Episode 3 of Downstream, a contemporary, kick-ass time-travel series with attitude. Expect wit, comedy and well observed characters and of course, the unexpected! What would you do if you could travel back in time?
Let me introduce myself. My name is Joseph Bridgeman. I am a moderately depressed, reclusive insomniac with a failing antiques business and a constant headache.
And you need to trust me when I tell you, that’s the good bit. I thought my day started badly but where I ended up? I could never, ever, possibly have imagined. Oh, did I just say where? What I meant to say was when…
Keywords: Time travel, comedy, sci-fi.
PLEASE NOTE: Downstream is being released in episodes, each one in the region of 15,000 words (roughly 60 pages).

Finished part three with a grin and saying "bloody brilliant!".

Really kicked up a gear now, and the time travel element is firmly in place and starting to hum.

Joe's history with a character we've previously met is shown, and Joe begins to experiment with time travel, leading to some 'Time Traveller's Wife' scenes involving nakedness and literature's worst designed plastic raincoat.

At last, a friend is involved, and the episode ends on a high that I can't wait to follow on to the next instalment.

Really feeling Joe now - he's a man 'of a certain age', quoting Star Wars and Back to the Future, his Beatles obsession is quite sweet and grounding, and his sense of humour makes him empathic.

He is also starting to realise his purpose and find motivation now - his sister Amy.

Starting to see this as a TV series now.

With thanks to the author for the complementary copy, sent for review purposes.

Will we ever get enough of Joseph Bridgeman? No, no, NO!!

I have no idea how Nick Jones has taken an idea as unreal as time travel and turned it into the most enjoyably realistic series I've read in a long time!

Maybe it's the warmth and honesty of the previously mentioned main character. Maybe it's the warmth and honesty with which Nick Jones writes. Maybe it's a combination of the two! Either way, this series is a winner that should be on everyone's "to-read" list (unless they have already had the pleasure!).

Keep it coming, Mr. Jones!

Downstream is more than a time travel story!

The writing talks to me, gets in my head and makes the reader part of the story. Not only is this series a great story line with the time travel theme that includes great character development, but the writing style talks to me and makes me buy in to being part of the story as a voyeur who wants Joe to succeed and be happy in learning and controlling his gift. I'm ready to follow Joe into Episode 4 and hope Nick Jones has plans for more because I'm hooked!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

Book 3 - Now the fun starts! As Joe starts experimenting with his new found ability to travel back in time, with some unexpected outcomes and possibly a chance to change his luck.

A Great series, I look forward to following Downstream to see where it ends.

Even Better Than The last one

I enjoyed this book more than the last one in the series. More information and the character has more to be relatable to and finally the time traveling becomes more clear. Can't wait for the next one.

It's hard to review each episode like an individual book as they are so interlinked. That said, this particular episode has been the best so far, with Bridgeman finally coming to terms with his new found abilities and starting to take control of his life. Great stuff!

This series is great. And so far VERY DIFFERENT from other time travel stories.
I don't like spoilers, so I won't say anything except, Read It! You'll be glad you did.

Kindle Unlimited but freebie day for me. Interesting concept, but with the multiple episodes, if had found it that way, would have been ticked. Wondering since longer version if all sections were just put together or if it was 'fixed' in some way a full season/book length, because kept losing me as to what and who was going on and doing what. Since read a lot, and a LOT of time travel, this is definitely on the writer's side not mine. Just much informations/background in some places and not enough in others. Needed better sectioning to explain time/date happening in.
