Her… Darkness wants me. I’ve been surrounded by darkness since the day I was born. It is all I’ve ever known. It consumes me, it suffocates me, and no matter how far I run, darkness is always at my heel threatening to devour me. My darkness is… fear! I never believed I could feel anything else until the moment he touched me. He has given me hope. He has allowed me to dream, to want, to desire more than I have ever thought possible. He’s my protection… my safety… my future… I am his. But darkness always has a way of creeping up and casting its shadow. Will it consume me or will his love be strong enough to keep me in the light? Him…. She’s my obsession and I can’t seem to get her off my mind. It drives me crazy but I think about her constantly. I want her. No, I need her. I crave everything about her; her touch, her taste, her smile, her eyes, and her innocence. Just being close to her turns me on. No woman has ever made me feel this way and I can’t get enough. I have to have her. Her body, her heart, her mind, and her desires belong to me. No one can ever take what’s mine and make no mistake she IS mine. I know she has a past and I know she has secrets, but no matter what comes our way I will fight for her. Her secrets I can handle but with such uncertainty from her past, will it finally catch up to her and destroy the new life she has built before I can save her?
This is my third book by S K Lessly and I have never been disappointed by any of her stories.
This is Joshua and Summer/Kenya’s story.
The story grabbed my attention from the Prologue and makes you want to keep reading to find out how Kenya got into the darkness in the first place!!
As far as I am concerned Josh is a true Alpha Male and treats his woman like a man should! I loved the dialogue between the couple and the fact that the story was mainly about them and how they interacted with each other.
The book has action, murder, intrigue, betrayal and family drama all the elements of a great read. One of the most romantic books I have read this year so far. I love romance and this book was full of it!
One of my favourite scenes in the book is when Keyna is telling Josh that she loves him.
Kenya: “I love you Joshua…” he heard her whisper and panic settled in…
Joshua: “Sweets please just hold on for me”.
Love, love this scene!!! To experience the full magnificence of this dialogue between the couple you will have to read the book.
I hated Jack he is such a douche!!!! You will see why if you read the book! He and Paula/Diane deserve each other!!
I would highly recommend this book. I would rate this a 10 star read if there was a 10!!! Definitely a 5 star with outstanding features for sure. I loved it!
***WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS, RANTING AND CUSSING***
Let me start out by saying, I really don’t know why I continued to read this book. It switched gears so fast I got whiplash. It would change POV’s but it would back up days, weeks or even months or even skip ahead time then go back and recount what has happened. It was wordy and long. I ended up skimming a lot of the descriptions of things. For example, I did not need to know Kenya made Josh a turkey sandwich with mayo, lettuce and tomato on wheat. I also did not need to know all the furniture in a room or what color it was, or the color of the walls etc.…I did not care.
So who were the players? And yes, almost everyone had a stage name and a real name…confused the hell out of me. Heroine: Kenya (aka Summer) Hero: Joshua (aka Leone) Let me say this, I don’t know what the hell he does…is he a mercenary? Does he work for the government? He’s not in a “department” so what does he do? I think he’s Batman…he’s perfect, he can do it all and he’s scary…
Paula/Diane: (aka Skanky bitch, my words not the authors) CIA but works with Josh from time to time. They are on an assignment together. She sets her sights on Josh.
Jacks: (aka Jackass, Kenya’s words) Rat bastard..yep that is what he is. He’s been scorned or some other shit and decides he’s going to join up with Paula/Diane and SAVE Josh from making another mistake with a woman. He says mean and hurtful things to Kenya.. Misty: Josh’s partner- POV: Kenya’s is 1st person, Josh’s is 3rd person. But could include any of the other characters’ thoughts at any given time…just thrown in there…yeah…
There was some other storyline going on in the back ground that I almost couldn’t follow. Then the drug cartel got involved, then everything came around full circle back to Kenya.. This was so unbelievable and convoluted I had trouble keeping up.
So Kenya gets and beaten within an inch of her life. Josh rescues her and what does he do?? Leaves her in the care of his family for 4 FUCKING MONTHS. What hero does that?? Yes, he was chasing the bad guys, yes she was in a coma for 6 weeks but don’t you think he’d want to be the first person she saw when she woke up??? Malcolm, the brother was a better partner to her than Josh at this point. I almost stopped right there…I couldn’t believe it. But I had invested a lot of time reading this book so I trudged on.. So, we get a nice little epilogue with pregnancy and she goes into labor..do we get to find out about the baby?? NO! We just find out that Josh is one mean SOB when he tortures Noah. Does Diane get what’s coming to her??? NO! She’s MIA. Does Jacks get punished for his part in the deception?? NO! Josh forgives him
Was there anything I liked about this book? Yes, or it would be a 1 STAR for me. Josh was obsessed with and possessive of Kenya when he finally got his head out of his ass. Well, until he leaves her for 4 FUCKING MONTHS . And most of the detailed sex scenes were hot...that's about it. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Let me just say I LOVE this book. It had EVERYTHING in it. I mean everything
Our Hero Joshua *shudders* this man has it all. He can scare the ever loving crap out of you. Make you submit when you swore up & down that you never would. And his mouth, the look, feel, & what comes out of it at times.. Had me like...
The man is the business. He doesn't play. And if given the choice, you'd want to be on his good side. Trust me. He's beyond loyal. Loving, passionate, compassionate, hot, sexy as hell. Buuut he'll eff you up in the worst way if you step out of line with him or someone dear to him.
I loved Kenya too. I felt her & Josh in many ways, were each others' mirror. Not only did they have white hot chemistry across the board, but they had this quiet understanding toward one another. It really was a joy to watch their interactions play out. And it was a joy to see such a man as Josh embrace love so completely. It actually made him more formidable. More ferocious. If that's possible. Scary stuff. Scary & beautiful all at once.
This story is busy. There is a lot going on, with tons of layers that don't really become clear until you're basically at the end. But I guess that's what makes it great too. It's hard to figure out exactly what's going on before you're supposed to and I loved that.
I loved how it all came together, every role that each person had to play to complete this story was done beautifully. Especially the roles of Kenya's & Josh's family, and the things that put her on the road that eventually would lead her to Josh
I hate to say goodbye to my baby Josh but all good things must come to an end. I so loved how this one closed as well.
This was truly an awesome read and I HIGHLY recommend that you read it.
WOW!! Loved this book. S.K. has done it again. This book is full of action, suspense, romance and family drama. This is Josh and Kenya's story and is a very sweet romance. Josh is definitely an Alpha Male.
The women and situations where a little different but it seems the formula for the author book's is a problem-ed or weak bw needing to be saved and loved by a strong, handsome, well "put together" wm who is in or was in the military and is a beast in the sheets... HMM. I thought this book would be a continuation of Desired with Drake... (LOVE HIM!) but its not. :( The best thing that came from this book is it telling me that Desired 2 is coming out soon at the end. (I love Drake! did i say that?)
IMO: This is to much like Ruined... Way to much run on dialog and I wanted the story to get to the point so many times; I had to force myself to keep going! A lot of Fluff!!! While it does have some good parts; Its just my opinion that there was way to much of the extra back and forth in the story, that i could've and I can do without. {I was late to read Ruined because I couldn't get past this very thing.. but Desired redeemed this author for me but i will be very picky about books over 300 pages from this author for now on.}
I wont really spoil this book, so this is how i took it and how i described it to friends: there is so much unnecessary dialog and back and forth. This book could have been cut in half... i had to skim the beginning; it got good after all the blah blah; was a waste in the middle... leading to the climax of her being a dumbass and doing what she promised him she wouldn't do; him saving the day which was good; to a bunch of blah blah in the end.
Overall it was a ok story but like i said if you wanted or thought this would be a Drake continuation like i did then just wait for Desired 2.
Another exciting sensual and hot like fire book from author S K Lessly. She did not disappoint all I can say is Josh!!! The alpha male genre is alive in this book so if you're a fan this book is for you I 100% recommend this book 5 stars, two thumbs up. Two snaps up all of those things it was great!
WOW, I loved this book. I have read all of SK Lessly's books and this is the best one by far. Josh is a true alpha. There's hot sex, you'll laugh, cry and truly be entertained. I loved it and wish I can give it 10 stars. Looking forward to her next book.
Hold on to your seats people, S.K. is about to take you a super-hot and sexy ride with Obsession that will have you needing a bucket of cold water or a hot man. Josh and Kenya a.k.a Summer are not your everyday couple. Both have explosive secrets that could lead them down very dark and dangerous paths. They meet on a track while jogging and they both feel the heat, soon they find themselves meeting again when Josh shows up at the bakery where Summer works, and she finds herself unable to resist Josh even though she knows she should, her life is complicated to say the least. Josh is not one to shy away from a challenge and Summer presents just that, all to soon their secrets are revealed and what happens next can only be described as hot, explosive, suspenseful and romantic all at the same time. I love this book and I can’t wait for more. Ms. S.K. Lesley is quickly moving up the ranks as one of the best authors out there.
Go Alphas!! I loved this book!!! How could you not when THE girl literally just fell at Josh's feet, and it's chocked FULL of hot alpha males? I loved the plot...yes, it had one! And I love the way that the ancillary characters left openings for more books! This is my third S.K. Lessly novel and I am definitely a fan!
I LOVED this book... LOVE! There is a lil bit of a Roller Coaster ride that starts full force at the beginning..
its a ride you get on... get a lil bored in the middle and then shots you right back into action... then smooths out in the end...
Summer/Kenya literally goes weak in the knees when she first lays eyes on Josh at the track (if I was her I probably would've done the same thing) and him being the man that he is he runs to helps her and instantly feels the pull towards her...
Her thoughts during their first encounter were pretty funny... she is basically having a tug a war with lust and trying to act cool and fails... he knows it and loves it... the man gets into her mind (mentally her pants) and wrecks her... she has a love hate relationship with these feelings and it's so fun to read...
Summer/Kenya is an interesting female.. she has a rough past and is still dealing with the remnants but is well aware of the feelings she feels in the moment... with a little hesitation and fear she follows her heart and goes with it... her strengths and weaknesses are on display and she is well aware of them... there isn't a front and I like that about her... when Josh comes into her life... the darkness that she is used to begins to fade...
Josh... is the type of alpha male that I like.. he is not out looking for someone but doesn't hesitate to purse Summer/Kenya... he is strong... sexy... and not over bearing... I don't like alpha males who force what they want on someone... but Josh knows what he wants and doesn't care who has an opinion about it... and he takes his time with her knowing that she is guarded...
Them together..
They are an annoyingly cute couple! Josh's feelings allowed her to realize that love was real and she deserved it..
Summer/Kenya, Josh and the supporting characters grab your attention and are so well developed... Her friend Joy is my favorite character after the main...
SK Lessly did a great job with this book... I REALLY enjoyed her writing style... there is a little bit of everything... drama... action.. love.. fear... sex.. tension.. at times it felt like Summer/Kenya was telling you the story personally and stopped just to make sure you were paying attention... about mid-book.. it hit a dull point for me... but picked up soon after.. I couldn't stop reading... I was up until 2am reading because I had to know what happened...
There is no cliff.... just a Happy Ending... This is a sweet sexy read I would recommend to anyone...
I waited for most torrid this book before tacking it myself and all O can say bis that I should have still waited. This was not a book. This was several plots and books all heaped in to two characters. The heroine "Sweetness". I suppose to be a run away heiress/abused girlfriend/unloved daughter/ hated sister/ Angel/virgin/Ivy League Princeton grad/ but working 3 blue collar jobs as a waitress/ has connected underground hacker friends/ and can give blow jobs like a pornstar. The hero Josh, is a athlete/corporate executive/government operator/combat tested civilian contractor/italian stud who can afford black label brand designer suits on a government salary. The storyline was all over the place and jumped timelines and reality in such over the top ways that by chapter 4 I just wanted it to be over. The heroine Kenya/summer/ I wish she would just run away with the resting the plot was an over the top needy, neurotic part nymphomaniac part that annoying needy girlfriend your guy BFF insists on still dating despite the fact that no one likes her. The hero despite his trading and years if experience was nothing more than a paradox of an alpha male with a "hero complex". In my head he was more of a 5'3' joe Pesci with a severe Napoleonic complex and an over inflated perception of his "skills". I can't recommend this book. Even though it has a 77% 5 star rating, I think that's more fan based than an honest reflection of this work. I would give it one star but I'm giving it two since the writing is 80% better than some of the trash that's out there, I liked how the author at least tried and I do mean tried to build a background story of the characters but that was no mission accomplished, so the extra star was for those two things. I won't reread this again and it's already off my Kindle.
The best way I can describe this book is formulaic and definitely needs suspension of belief as it goes on and on. Unlike Ruined, things in this book are extremely implausible to the point of becoming comical. Perfect example- who closes a trunk or a door so hard that it shatters the glass? What kind of piece of shit are they riding in?! Also, I'm confused how light Kenya is. She sounds like a cross between a golden goddess and magic marker. Finally, the descriptions of the city came off like a tourist brochure. No, girl, no! You're a better writer than that. I'm not sure if the books are being put out too fast or what, but this book read more like a rough draft, and the cursing came off as faux bad ass. S.K. has proved that she's a good writer before. I hope the next one is a return to her easy style of writing without being formulaic.
S.K. Lessly I hope you can see me right now, I am bowing down at your feet... this is my 2nd read and I'm absolutely loving you!!!! Obsession was filled with so many emotions... mad sad angry love happiness frustration joy HEAT..... Joshua alpha male saw Kenya and it was over for him, he was actually her Captain Savior and he would do anything to show her love and keep her safe and I MEAN ANYTHING. My heart totally went out to Kenya a kind hearted person who just wanted to be loved but because OF the complexion of her skin, life dealt her a bad hand, well up until she meets Josh. I can not wait to see what is coming next from S.K. Lessly MUST READ!!!!
WOW!! S.K. Lessly has done it again. I truly enjoyed this book. This was such a emotional roller coaster that I just didn't want it to end. I need that Joshua in my life. I have one already, but he is nothing compared to Josh Cooper. I love how he was so protective of Kenya. Even after first meeting her. Now he was a sneaky S.O.B!! When I found that he had placed somebody next door to her I was like "are you kidding me"!! I wanted him to take care of her father!!! I so wanted him to suffer for what he did to Kenya. In the end I'm glad Kenya got the love that she desperately needed not only from Josh but his family as well.
3.5. I thought this was the sequel to Desired. So I purchased without reading the synopsis. I enjoyed the story nonetheless, but S.K. is starting to fall into a redundancy pattern. All three of her stories have the same type of heroine and hero. I think she's a good story teller, yet her plots are becoming repetitive. This is what I loved about her first novel. It kept the reader guessing wasn't sure how it would end. I hope she breaks out of the wash, rinse, repeat method.
Josh is so BADASS!! Loved his aggressiveness, loved his vulnerability with Kenya and just plain LOVED him!!
Kenya needed someone to show her she was worthy of love just for being herself and Josh had no qualms showing her. Her dad & sisters need Jesus or a punch to the throat; Noah needed to suffer and Wayne needs to grow a pair.
I love an author that can make you feel so invested in her characters like S.K can! Kudos to the author and readers, buy this book!
This story was so amazing I don’t know what else to say. Josh and Sweets are so cute together. I am so glad that Josh stayed with Kanye and just helped her grow from the fear of the darkness. Josh truly showed how much her loved her. That is the type of love that every girl wants. Can’t wait to read the second book in the series.
Ms. Lesley this story was a tour de force! The enduring, unrelenting love and passion Josh had for Kenya is heart achingly beautiful to behold.
I appreciated the fact that you wrote a thorough novel. I loved the way you juxtaposed scenes from the present to the past and concluded with a very satisfying epilogue. The secondary characters were a delight and I see great storylines for the other Cooper brothers as well as for Josh's teammates especially Misty.
Summer/Kenya was a very likable h she conveyed strength, determintion and of course a 'sweet' and pleasing personality. And my gosh, Josh what a man.! A very very fine man!!!He was alpha but he wore his heart on his sleeve. He declared his love unabashedly. He was a deadly killing machine when it concerned protecting his 'Sweet'.
Ms Lessly I am hooked. I have read all of your books and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. Please keep them coming. Buy this book you will not be disappointed!!!!
Josh Cooper is one Alpha of the first order. He met his mark on an early morning run in the park. Electricity shot through his arm as he rescued her from a fall she took. He was stunned, energized, and knew he had found the most beautiful woman to him, ever. Summer was awakened from a nightmare she had frequently. She knew an early morning run was exactly what she needed. On her final lap, something/someone caught her eye. An Adonis the likes she had never seen before was there. She lost her footing, her breath, and her heart in the flash of an eye. He helped her up, tied her shoe and tried to console her. She was sure fate had not smiled on her like this, but she hoped. Their paths would soon cross again at one of the places she worked. Josh was determined to get to know her better and solicited the help of his "friends" to do just that. Summer had a secret that she was hiding.Josh had a secret too but was on a mission.
Great read with suspense, mystery, steamy sex, betrayal and drama. First time reading this author, but it will not be my last...
I have become a huge fan of SK Lessly's books. This is now my fourth book I've read by her and I loved every minute. The love story between Kenya/Summer and Josh had a very nice slow burn and became hotter by the page. I really enjoyed the action aspect of this book as well. Character development was on point as usual. I would say the only critique I have is that I think both Kenya and Josh's chapters should have been written in the same POV style. It became a bit confusing to switch between Kenya talking to the reader only for us to get to Josh's chapters where he's not talking to the reader at all. I really live getting POV of both characters. Other than that, this is a really sizzling and fun book to read. You will also get introductions of characters that tie in and are featured in "Obsession Too." I'm looking forward to reading Misty's story!
Ok S.K. Lessly here goes!! I've read all three books Ruined, Desired and Obsession this weekend barely any sleep (yawn). I couldn't put them down, walking around with my kindle like a crazed person. These books were HOT!!! Packed with suspense and romance to boot whewww. You are a very, very talented writer and I'm looking forward to more of your work but please hurry with Desired 2. I know it takes time to do great writing so I'm patiently waiting. I give all the books a five since that's all I can but would have given more. So keep'em coming
Gee....this one was pretty good. You really have to stay with it because if you try to skip through it, believe me you will miss something. The alpha male in this book is a really super guy....intense as all alphas are, but he has a really beautiful heart. I also enjoy reading about families that are tight knit and loyal to each other especially in light of the crazy family this poor woman came from. No wonder she believes she is darkness, but believe me, she surfaces to the light in an incredible way. Strong storyline, well defined characters. I like it!
Omg!! This book was on fire, and I was hooked from the get go. I loved how Josh was able to love Kenya out of the darkness and into the light. I could feel the love they had for each other. They were truly each other's obsession. This is my third time reading a book by this writer, so she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. If fact, I have brought all her books she has to offer on Amazon. I love how it is written and how the characters in each book are speaking directly to you.
I can't say enough good things about this book. The characters were on point. It had real humor. The characters talked like real people do. Even though this was a complete novel, I'd love to read more about these characters. Want to see the brothers find love and happiness......just a thought
This is my second book that I've read by this author and I must say, she's is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Her stories have sexy alpha males, sweet, likable heroine's, engaging plots, plenty of steam to satisfy erotic readers, action, angst and a satisfying HEA. I look forward to reading more of her work.
This is my second book by this author and I'm in Love! This book was AMAZING!! Both books were outstanding and I'm looking to toward to the next book! Very shocking story I was not expecting it once again, job well done!
Another great read... this book had it all, drama, suspense, intrigue, mystery and Yes Hot Romance. I hope to get more by way of Shane, Misty and Malcolm.
