This is a wonderful book for anyone who teaches or who is otherwise interested in our language and how it has developed over the centuries. Did you know that English has over 650,000 words? That is far more words than other languages. Also, crazy as our spelling seems, there are reasons for each and every spelling. Nothing is spelled by pure whim although at times it may seem so. This book is very readable and easily understood.

Quick book about the history of English. Not engaging enough to read unless you know you’re going to teach it haha. Fun if you’re going to teach it!

Great book to read if you are interested in the origins of the English language. A short book that references other books and an easy read.
