Lila is 31 and a vet. She has a tendency to be drawn to every dog that comes through.
Ethan found a dog injured a few blocks from his apartment. He picks the dog up and heads to the nearest clinic.
He notices a guy standing there just looking at the clinic. The next the guy is still there. When he gets ready to leave he notices the guy is looking at the vet. He gives her the leash and tells her to get back inside. When he is finished cataloguing the unknown man he goes back inside. There he asks her questions and she tells him about a chip that she found in her coat pocket.
Thus begins a journey that will have repercussions for As the two of them. As Ethan takes up position in her clinic and does searching on the object someone put in her pocket. The info isn't good and could be very bad for Lila and those around her. Then they discover it was an old acquaintance from years ago. Now the game is afoot and lives are on the line.
A fascinating story that could mirror real life...the danger is real and the psychology is deep.

Book 5 of Still A Hero. Can be read as a standalone.

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I enjoyed parts of Silver Fox’s Alpha Security by Eden Ashcroft, but overall it just didn’t fully work for me. The story had potential and I liked the main idea, but everything felt very rushed, which made it hard to really connect to the characters or the romance. I kept wanting more background, more emotional depth, and more development throughout the story.
The pacing moved so quickly that some moments didn’t have the impact they could have had. It wasn’t a bad read, just not a favorite for me personally.

I loved this book ! The storyline was great, the characters were well written, but the author had major timeline issues. The feeding chair and blue tile are only a few of them. The editor should have caught these inconsistencies prior to this. 3✨’s.
