Jasmine didn’t die by suicide. Sage knows that as surely as she knows the sky is blue and small towns bury the truth to protect their own.
Bridgewater pretends to be picture-perfect: football games, church gossip, and families with smiles that never reach their eyes. But Jasmine saw the cracks, and she wasn’t afraid to pry them open.
With the power of popularity and a taste for chaos, she started collecting secrets: of their classmates, their teachers, and the people who sit on every town board that matters. Hypocrisy, affairs, addictions, bribes; Jasmine called it accountability. Everyone else would call it dangerous.
Sage never meant to help her start a war. But Jasmine was gravity—brilliant, infuriating, unforgettable. Together, they built a list that could torch half the town’s reputation in a single night.
Then Jasmine ended up dead.
The police called it suicide. The town is ready to move on. Rumors have already started rewriting the story. But Sage refuses to let Jasmine be forgotten or dismissed.
With Jasmine’s notes, screenshots, and unfinished plans in hand, Sage starts digging into what really happened the night her best friend died. The deeper she goes, the more it becomes clear: Jasmine didn’t just uncover secrets. She threatened the wrong person.
And in Bridgewater, the truth isn’t buried. It’s protected.
❣️I have decided that I will no longer rate indie books that my friends have written but I will do everything else for them, including reviews😌Thank you, Sydney, for the ARC!
This is Sydney Blondell’s first ever YA thriller and it’s a binge worthy one at that! One of my favorite lines, as there were some bangers, was:
🔥”Fear could also make someone desperate. And desperate people didn’t make threats. They made decisions.”
I had a ton of thoughts and without giving spoilers, here they are (but you’ll need to read the book to TRULY understand 😉)
*Derrick + Sage = love that will never happen but should *THE LITERAL LAST LINE OF THE BOOK *Sheriff Woods sounds kinda hot tbh *The acknowledgment page is a must read (says me) *Sage’s mom sounds like she drinks wine at 11 am and calls it her breakfast
If this makes you say “what in the world is Megan talking about?” Then this book is for you 🤭
Burnt into Memory comes out JUNE 2ND! You can get a signed copy on SydneyBlondell.com 📖 SYDNEY IS THE BEST!
Thank you, Sydney for giving me the chance to read and review an early copy of Burnt Into Memory! This is Sydney's first young adult thriller and was a fast paced story with small town gossip, revenge, secrets, and suspicious characters. This would be a fun book to binge on a rainy day. I will say I was onto who the killer was, but that might be because I've read a lot of young adult thrillers. 😆
