He wasn’t supposed to notice her. And she damn sure wasn’t supposed to want him.
Nyra “Ny” Jones knew better than to get caught up in a man like Brim. Men like him don’t love soft. They don’t move gentle. Everything about him screams danger, control, and don’t ask questions you not ready to hear answers to.
But the first time he looks at her like she already his?
Yeah… it’s a wrap.
Brimothy “Brim” Kane don’t chase. He don’t explain. And he damn sure don’t beg. What he wants… he takes. And Ny? She walked straight into his world like she belonged there—like she wasn’t about to get pulled into something deeper than she could handle.
This ain’t no fairytale. This ain’t no slow burn.
This is fast, reckless, and addictive.
Lines get crossed. Feelings get messy. And the deeper Ny falls, the harder it gets to tell the difference between love… and possession.
I just finished this book, and honestly, I have a lot of questions.
This was my first time reading this author, and while the overall plot wasn’t bad, the execution left me confused more often than not. It felt like the story had potential, but key details were either missing or underdeveloped, making it difficult to stay fully engaged.
Starting with the main characters—Brim and Nyla—I struggled to connect with them. Brim barely spoke, and his interactions with Nyla lacked depth. Their relationship didn’t feel developed; instead, it came across as constant conflict with no real emotional buildup. Because of that, I never fully bought into their connection.
Nyla, in particular, was hard to understand. She’s clearly dealing with anger and trust issues, but there’s little to no backstory explaining why. Without that context, her behavior feels repetitive rather than layered. The same issue applies to most of the cast—there’s a noticeable lack of background, leaving me questioning who these people really are and what ties them together.
The side characters added even more confusion.
Phon’s storyline was predictable—I picked up early on that he had feelings for Brim—but it didn’t go much further than that. His entire arc seemed to revolve around unspoken feelings, without meaningful development.
Kola, on the other hand, raised more questions than answers. After the first fight, who was she talking to? Who was helping her set Nyla up? Her scenes felt repetitive, and despite all the buildup, she didn’t actually *do* much, which made her character feel stagnant.
Then there’s Kookie. I understand she was trying to protect her friend by digging into Brim, but the situation escalated without clear explanation. Who was sending the threatening messages? Why didn’t she just tell Nyla what was going on? It felt like conflict for the sake of tension, without enough clarity behind it.
One of the biggest issues for me was the pacing and timeline. There seem to be multiple time jumps, but they aren’t clearly defined, which makes the story feel disjointed. The most jarring moment was Nyla’s pregnancy—it seemed to come out of nowhere. There was no clear development of intimacy between her and Brim, so that reveal felt abrupt and confusing.
By the end, instead of feeling suspenseful, the story left me trying to piece together what actually happened. Characters repeat the same motivations—protecting themselves, wanting someone back, being in love—but without progression, it starts to feel redundant.
Overall, the book isn’t bad—it’s just difficult to follow. With stronger character development, clearer timelines, and more intentional dialogue, this could have been a much more impactful story. As it stands, it feels like there are missing pieces that I’m hoping will be addressed in the next installment.

Say less… Just come here. And honestly? That line alone sets the tone for a story that doesn’t waste time explaining itself it demands you feel it.
Comere is a high-octane urban romance that thrives in the space between silence and tension, where every glance, every move, and every choice feels like part of a calculated game. Lyxa delivers a story that blends raw street energy with a slow-burning, magnetic connection that refuses to be rushed.
Brimothy “Brim” Kane is quiet, controlled, and dangerously intentional. and baaaby Nyra “Ny” Jones, a woman who stands ten toes down in who she is, no matter the pressure around her. Because she is that pressure.
Their chemistry? Immediate. Their dynamic? Complicated.
Brim doesn’t chase loudly, he appears. Strategic. Observant. Selective. Nyra doesn’t fold, she holds her ground. Fierce. Principled. Unmovable.
What unfolds is a push-and-pull that feels less like romance and more like a chess match with emotions on the line.
Well this isn’t your typical love story or maybe it is? It’s layered with betrayal, territorial energy, and emotional warfare.
* Kola (The Ex-Factor): Not the type to go quietly. Her lingering claim on Brim ignites tension that spills into public chaos and forces hard boundaries. * Kookie (The messy friend): Her actions blur lines and ultimately cost her the friendship proving not everyone deserves access. * Phon (The Silent Storm): The real emotional gut-punch. His loyalty to Brim runs deeper than expected, and his confession“It was always you”adds a layer of heartbreak that shifts the entire narrative.
An unexpected pregnancy forces Brim and Nyra to stop circling each other and stand in what they’ve built. And Brim? He doesn’t hesitate.
“You not by yourself.”
That line isn’t just reassurance, it’s a declaration. A shift from control to commitment.
Meanwhile, Kola and Phon are left to face a hard truth: not every role in someone’s life is permanent.
Lyxa doesn’t write surface-level characters.
* Brim isn’t just possessive, he’s intentional with his energy. * Nyra isn’t just stubborn, she’s grounded in self-respect and autonomy.
Every action feels justified. Every emotion earned.
⭐ Final Verdict
Comere is for readers who want edge, emotion, and complexity all in one. It’s gritty but intimate, intense but grounded. A story about power, loyalty, and knowing when to fight… and when to finally let someone in.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Because baby… this wasn’t just a read, this was a pull.
This was a new author for me and I felt like the characters were everywhere and nowhere at the same time lol. I think I would have liked more context about the characters, they were all mysterious to me and maybe that was the point of the story. I wanted to know where they were from, the ages, and city… what kind of job Ny had, etc. I mean everyone was always outside on the block, and poor Phon, just posted like he ain’t have nothing better to do. I guess what kept me reading this book was the mystery behind it. Will Brim and Ny get together? I definitely loved the cover which is what made the book appealing, but I didn’t get that same feel once I read the book. I’m interested to see what other books this author has and if this is the style is writing to look forward to.

I am still lost on this whole book. Was this like soul ties or were they like mating animals I’m kind of confused on the whole book. How does she become pregnant in the end? All he did was stand outside I don’t understand who brim at a relationship with was him and phon in a relationship as well or was it like a brotherly thing. I tries to see this through got to the end still lost.
This was a GUD read!!!! Kola got on my nerves and I,a need her to let go already but what flipped me was that Phon was madly in LOVE WITH BRIM! ! Watch your homies dudes because WHAT…… Lyxa gets me every time love her down can we a part 2 with a time jump PLEASE!!!
I loved this book it was amazing I enjoyed the fighting scenes I enjoyed romance scenes and the messy scenes I loved all the characters and I was so happy for her pregnancy and kokie was working on my nevers and I was happy she lost her friendship with Nyla
Nyra hasss to be a Leo because baby she didn’t back down for nothing. Then Brim came in with his energy and just cleared everything. Don’t get me started on Phon 🙄🙄 It was so many emotions in the air with one common denominator and that is Brim! I really enjoyed this book.
Brim was a man of few words, smooth and direct. Man that knows what he wants and won't allow nothing to get in the way. Nyra was that girl effortlessly.
