A Name We Sing in Light is a fast-paced romantasy that grips your attention. The very first pages introduce you to the FMC Amelia and a lot has already happened to her which gives you the impression that you have just been dropped into this fantasy world without it being a bad thing because that's why it is so easy to get into the world.
There were a lot of things I loved about this book: the found family, the dragonshifter vs fae, Thorne, the different kind of bonds, the spirits and traditions, and the backstory.
What really grabbed my attention was how Amelia never really got over her first love and still felt guilty if she even slightly felt something for somebody else. I liked how important that emotion was and how she kept holding onto that even though it wasn't the greatest experience ending wise.
The last pages of the book were fantastic. I usually kind of know which direction/plot twist a story is heading too, but that wasn't the case with this book which is why I was pleasantly surprised.
The only thing I wanted to see more of was the magic. The shifter magic, Amelia's magic and the fae magic. But I'm hopeful that all of that will be in book 2!!
There were a lot of things I loved about this book: the found family, the dragonshifter vs fae, Thorne, the different kind of bonds, the spirits and traditions, and the backstory.

Another top fantasy read of the year for me.
Amelia’s story begins in the Dragon Kingdom, where she was once a palace healer and secretly in love with Dragon Prince Atlas. But after her parents betrayed her and arranged for her to marry another man, everything she had built was ripped away. Atlas believed Amelia had chosen the betrayal, never knowing the truth of what her parents had done to her or the horrors she endured afterward.
By the time Amelia is finally free, she has lost nearly everything. Atlas has sent her away, believing she betrayed him, and she is running toward the Human Realm with nothing but her past, her trauma, and a power she has spent her entire life being taught to fear.
Instead, at one of the lowest points of her life, she finds herself in the White Fae Kingdom and crosses paths with Eryndor.
And that is where Amelia’s story truly began to shine for me.
She has spent so much of her life being controlled, silenced, and made to believe that her power was something dangerous. Her past is heartbreaking, especially as the truth of everything Keres took from her slowly comes to light. But underneath all of that pain is someone incredibly powerful and watching Amelia begin to discover exactly who she is outside of the Dragon Kingdom and everything that happened there was one of my favorite parts of this story.
The world building was everything I wanted. The White Fae Kingdom, rival courts, elemental spirits, Shadowborn, ancient Dragon Clans, forbidden magic, resurrection curses, hidden spies and the mystery surrounding Elaréa created this beautifully layered fantasy world where it constantly felt like another secret was waiting to be uncovered.
And the characters…
THORNE. I need more of this man immediately. His bond with Amelia, his unwavering belief in her strength, and the way he sees the power in her that she has been taught to hide I loved every second of it. Give him his own book and I will devour it.
Then there’s Eryndor. He meets Amelia when she is lost, hurting and trying to survive, and slowly becomes someone she can trust. The training. The protection. The quiet understanding between them. The way they orbit each other while apparently being the only two people who don’t realize what is happening between them. And Eryndor in battle? Brutal, disciplined and deadly. I was obsessed.
But I also adored the softer relationships woven throughout the story. Seraya accepting Amelia so completely and becoming someone she could finally trust with the darkest parts of her past was beautiful. Their friendship gave Amelia something she desperately needed: a place where she could simply belong.
And then Atlas walked into the White Fae Kingdom…
The moment he realizes Amelia is alive after believing she was dead was EVERYTHING. The anger. The heartbreak. The misunderstandings. All the truths neither of them knows about what really happened. And Eryndor stepping in when Atlas lashes out at her and refusing to let Amelia face it alone? I was completely invested.
The deeper we get into Amelia’s magic, the more intriguing everything becomes. Silverflame. Shadow magic. The Guardians. The elemental spirits. A forgotten ancient bloodline. A mysterious voice calling her Elaréa. There is clearly something much bigger surrounding Amelia, and I need every single answer.
And THAT ENDING?!

Stand aside Sarah J Mass and step forward M M Felsner. What a book, it had me gripped from the beginning to the end. The beautiful character development all the way through of all the characters. The chemistry that sits between them. The world building that is beautiful intertwined in the background is done in perfect balance. There's a theme of grief and loss that's explored in a few different ways throughout the the book that is done with thoughtfulness and real skilled writing. This book had me laughing, crying, Ooing and arring at the spice What more could you want from a dragon shifter, fae Romantacy book. Oh yes what a cliff hanger at the end. Clinging on by the finger tips at this one. What an amazing book would highly recommend.

A Name We Sing in Light was such an enjoyable read. The mix of the dragon, fae, and human realms immediately pulled me in, and the tension between Amilia and Eryndor kept me hooked throughout the story. I especially loved the mystery surrounding Amilia’s powers and the strong foreshadowing for future books.
Thorne completely stole my heart and quickly became my favorite character.
The final chapters were incredibly strong, filled with cryptic moments and reveals that made me desperate for the next book. A Few of the spicy scenes felt slightly out of place personally, where I would have loved a bit more emotional depth instead.
Overall, this is a beautiful romantasy with mystery, tension, lovable characters, and a world that clearly has much more waiting to unfold. I’m really excited to continue the series.

I’ve just finished A Name We Sing in Light, a book chosen by a book club I joined in an attempt to be more present and social in a way that feels safe and manageable. I wasn’t expecting this story.
It reopened wounds I’d only just managed to close and unearthed feelings I’d buried simply to keep moving forward. Yet amidst the heartbreak, a quiet friendship blossoms, hope flickers back to life, and the FMC’s resilience becomes something truly inspiring.
This story worked its way into the very fabric of my being. It hurt in places, yes, but it also left behind a profound sense of lightness and acceptance. I’m fully aware it’s fiction, but this is one of those rare books that you don’t just read—you feel your way through it. It’s stunning.

I loved every minute of this book.
The FMC is amazing despite all the bad she lives through.
The MMC is charismatic, charming but also can be annoying at times in a good way.
If you are wanting an easy to follow and heartwarming romantasy then is this the book for you.

I really loved reading this book. I was hooked from a few chapters in, an incredible romantasy story, I fell in love with characters, I can't wait for book 2 and the continuation of their journeys.

I genuinely couldn’t put this book down! It took me on a complete emotional rollercoaster, intense love, intense heartbreak, and everything in between. I became so attached to the characters, and the spice absolutely delivered!! If you’re into fae, dragons, powerful bonds, and are in need of a lineup of new book boyfriends, this one will hook you fast. The storyline builds in a way that leaves you desperate for more! I even paused my TOG read just to finish this, and that says a lot!! Now I’m counting down until book two!

📚Book Review: The best way I can describe this book is that it felt like wrapping up in a warm blanket while still getting all the magic, tension, and adventure I look for in a romantasy.
I finished A Name We Sing in Light yesterday, and I was surprised by how emotionally invested I became in Amelia's journey. She's carrying a lot of pain and baggage from her past, but the story never lets that darkness overwhelm everything else. Instead, there's a real sense of hope running through the book, which made it stand out from many fantasy romances I've read lately.
One of my favorite parts was the White Fae Kingdom. The court politics, ancient magic, and hidden agendas created plenty of intrigue without becoming confusing. I also loved the found-family dynamic. Some of the friendships that develop throughout the story felt just as important as the romance, and honestly, those moments hit me the hardest. The slow-burn relationship was another highlight. The tension builds gradually, and the morally gray prince had me constantly questioning his motives while still wanting more scenes with him.
The world of Dragon Shifters, Fae, and Humans is rich and immersive, but it's presented in a way that feels approachable rather than overwhelming. It reminded me of why I fell in love with fantasy in the first place-getting lost in another world while still connecting deeply with the characters.
There were a few places where I wanted the pacing to move a little faster, but the strong character development more than made up for it. By the end, I was already eager to continue the series.
I'd highly recommend this to readers who enjoy slow-burn romantasy, found family, magical courts, and heroines who grow stronger through adversity. It's an emotional, engaging start to what looks like a very promising series.

Like all good books, A Name We Sing In Light starts with a dramatic opening and gets us straight into understanding some of Amelia's back story. And it leaves a lot of questions which made me want to read on and find out more. Amelia's character develops and changes throughout the book, taking her from someone timid and gentle to someone more in her power. She definitely has a long way to go with this, especially to claim her dragon heritage which was teased throughout the book and I can't wait for her to embrace it! I'm also really curious to find out more about the guardians and I hope her grandmother makes a reappearance in some way.
All of the characters are really well written, I fell in love with Thorne and am a big fan of Eryndor. And the spicy scenes are very spicy! Although Atlas is seemingly the love of Amelia's life, he's going to have to do a lot in the next book for me to want him to have any chance of getting back with her. I really liked the insight we get into the character and back story of the villain Keres. So many authors don't do this and it makes them feel very two dimensional and stereotypical, so it was far more interesting in this book to know more about him.

It is my own book, so obviously I love it :) I am learning this goodreads thing so I ended up here and thought it could not hurt to say something about it ;)
It is a heartfelt story and has many characters to fall in love with.
“Strength is not the absence of breaking, child. It is the willingness to rise again after each fall.”
At its heart, this is the quiet truth my book returns to again and again.
That life will not always be gentle.
That love, loss, fear, and failure can shape us in ways we never asked for.
But even in our most fragile moments, there is still a kind of grace in choosing to rise.
This story is about the courage to keep walking when the path has wounded you.
About learning that softness is not weakness.
That kindness can survive pain.
That the heart can break and still become a place where light returns.
Because sometimes the most profound kind of strength is not loud or unshaken.
Sometimes, it is simply the decision to stand again —
changed, tender, and still willing to love.
And yes… between all the healing, magic, and emotional devastation there is actually a lot of spice. It comes quite late in the book as it is a bit of a slow burn, but when it's there... Its beautifully steamy.
