Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Arabasta is, up until this day, my favorite arc. Also, Ace and Vivi and Crocodile Sama and Bon Clay and i cannot handle my feelings.

En este tomo ya llegamos a Arabasta, aparecen dos personajes a los que le tengo mucho cariño 🥺💜 Ace y Bon chan jeje
Por lo demás, empieza el plan utupia de Crocodile, todos los agentes principales se encontraron y van en camino a cumplir sus misiones.
Conocimos también al líder revolucionario y un pequeño flashback de su historia con Vivi cuando pequeños.
Y el fin de capitulo con un Luffy serio 🤭 Viví arriesgándose sola y Luffy arriesga nuestras vidas también, no somos Nakamas 🥰 seguimos jeje

Despite a couple opportunities, lack of food, threat of starvation, all of the strange and fantastic, desert ecology, I'm glad that Chopper didn't end up as emergency rations after all.

I don't know if the writing and plotting are getting better or if I'm getting more attached to this story, but I feel like One Piece is on a new level now. I'm obsessed. All I want to do is read this series. If it were up to me, I'd finish the Alabasta arc today. Unfortunately, I have to wait on the library to get more volumes because as much as I love One Piece, I don't love it enough to spend $9.99 per volume.

This took me ages to finish. If I'm being honest I'm getting tired of Oda's sense of humor, it's just not my cup of tea, and it's starting to get on my nerves. It's the kind of humor that six years old would find funny, and it just brings me out of the story everytime. Which is a shame because the plot is getting more and more interesting as we go on and is more complex than it seems.
I'm also tired of the Baroque Works narrative. I think Captain Hook (or Crocodile or whatever you want to call him) is an interesting character but that's about it. I'm curious to see where this story is going.
P.S. I have to admit the few times where Luffy actually gets serious it immediately piques my interest.

Ah, Ace. Might be the best character in the series. My fav will always be Shanks, but Ace adds a dimension to this narrative that it desperately needed. Don't even get me started on Marineford. This is the first taste of One Piece evolving into perfection.

This volume was super fast paced, but it was still very much an introduction. It was filled with humour, but I am eager for some action, so I’m really excited for the next volume!

One Piece, Vol. 18 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (156–166) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon begins the Arabasta Arc. En route to Alabasta, the Straw Hats encounter Baroque Works agent Mr. 2 Bon Clay and he shows them his ability to impersonate the voice, face and body of any person whose face he touches with his right hand.
In Alabasta, Monkey D. Luffy goes to find something to eat. He encounters his older brother Portgas D. Ace and Captain Smoker of the Whitebeard Pirates, who chases him through the town. With Ace's help, Luffy escapes.
The top Baroque Works agents meet at a cafe in the desert. From there they are brought to a city, Rainbase, to meet Mr. 0. The Straw Hats cross the desert to the oasis of Yuba, where the rebel army reportedly has its headquarters. They find a ghost town, plagued by sandstorms.
Nefeltari Vivi tells a story about herself and her childhood friend, Koza. In Rainbase, Crocodile reveals himself and his master plan to conquer Alabasta to his agents. When Mr. 3 reports his failure to kill Vivi and the Straw Hats, Crocodile feeds him to one of his oversized crocodiles.
Although Luffy is discouraged, Vivi's passion for the cause inspires him to persevere.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. The narrative begins a new story arc as the Straw Hats, with Kureha's assistant Tony Tony Chopper, finally arrive at Arabasta, which is on the verge of civil war. Vivi must reach the rebels and tell them the real cause behind the conflict, but Crocodile, leader of Baroque Works and one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, will not just stand by and watch.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 18 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

A very interesting setup story-arc that offers us the chance to see the Baroque Works agents together with their quirky banter. In the meantime, we finally meet Ace and discover who he is and what he's been up to!

I was gonna give it 2 bc it’s lowkey dragging but Ace was herw (and then gone lmao see you in 1018299 chapters maybe???) and then it was boring again but then Luffy and Vivi fought and I dunno I love Luffy so it went up another star.
Also I can’t decide if crocodile is hot. We’ll see!

It’s just visually stupid for Vivi to be a princess of a desert country… her and her people are lily white… in a DESERT country. ☠️💀☠️ I can’t get over that.
The Baroque agents are another case of Oda losing the mark on constructing worthwhile and memorable villains. All of them are annoying and so inconsequential. Even Bon Clay, who does stand out from the group, only succeeds that by being excessively stupid lol.
I’m getting ahead of myself, but it’s also killing me that Robin, whose character design is so interesting and beautifully striking, will eventually be Nami-fied. Not only that but all of his women characters will be bimbofied… it’s so disappointing.
If the manga continues to humor me, there’s a potential to win me over… but those future changes are enough to make me consider quitting.

the offical introduction of ace??? OFC 5 stars. but more seriously…. MORE OFFICAL CROCODILE INTRODCUTION?????? MWAH. ok but shit is heating up. it’s so fucking good alabasta is PEAK. luffy vs vivi is one of my fav moments in the anime and it hits in the manga. vivi is willing to risk her life to save her people and luffy is like bro let us in on the action. UGH. VIVI 💙💙

I REALLY loved this volume! We get back to the Baroque Works storyline, we’re finally in Alabasta, we meet some more great characters and this country really feels more fleshed out than any of the other islands so far. And we meet Luffy’s brother!!! Great all around.

ace appears!! i may not know a lot of known OP characters but i definitely know ace!! he was jusy introduced and i'm already liking him so much! and the crew are now up against one of the seven warlords and his organization. this is going to be so much fun!! mr. crocodile has this major antagonist vibe to him and i'm expecting a not so very easy fight from this arc!!
