⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A sweet, feel‑good read with a grumpy hero worth swooning over

The Ever After Effect is one of those books that just makes you smile. It’s light, fun, and full of heart, with a grumpy‑on‑the-outside, soft‑on‑the-inside lead who turns into a hero in the cutest, most unexpected ways. Knox absolutely steals the show, and watching his walls come down was easily one of my favourite parts of the story.

Molly is doing her best in an impossible situation, and even when she stumbles at the start, you can’t help but root for her. Her determination to do right by her family gives the book its emotional core, and I loved seeing her grow into her own strength.

There are also some great supporting characters who add charm and humour, and I’d happily follow several of them into future books. The world Lainey Wolfe is building here has so much potential for a cosy, interconnected series.

If I could ask for anything more, it would be a bit deeper emotional layering in a few key moments—there were places where I wanted the story to linger just a touch longer. But overall, this is a delightful, feel‑good read that delivers exactly what it promises: warmth, chemistry, and a happily‑ever‑after worth cheering for.

The Ever After Effect by Lainey Wolfe is a sweet, funny, feel-good hockey romance that delivers plenty of charm and heart. When Molly sneaks into NHL player Knox Kingston’s apartment convinced he’s tied to a paternity mystery involving her cousin’s baby, she accidentally lands herself in the orbit of a grumpy-but-soft hero who’s far more willing to help than she expects.
I loved the humor throughout—especially the ongoing baby-name jokes that added a light, playful touch to the story. Knox is a standout: gruff on the outside, completely gone for Molly on the inside, and surprisingly tender as he slowly breaks down her walls. Molly’s determination to do right by her family gives the story its emotional grounding, even when she’s overwhelmed by the chaos she walks into.
The romance is a slow burn on her side with a bit of steamy reluctance, and the chemistry builds nicely as their partnership turns personal. While a few emotional moments could have used a bit more depth and breathing room, the overall tone stays warm, engaging, and uplifting.
A cozy, entertaining read with heart, humor, and a satisfying happily-ever-after.

This is a highly entertaining story which will have you smiling and laughing most of the time. Knox is a hockey player who meets Molly when she sneaks into his home thinking he is her cousin's baby daddy. How they describe the baby and call her their preferred names throughout is the ongoing joke. Their HEA is a slow burn on her side but steamy with reluctance on Molly's part will keep you engaged to the end.

3.5 ⭐

I really enjoyed this plotline for its originality and unpredictability. From the very beginning, I had no idea where the story was headed, which made it impossible to put down. I constantly found myself turning page after page, eager to uncover what would happen next.

I also found Molly to be such a relatable and compelling character, and I loved following her journey throughout the novel. Knox was an absolute sweetheart, and his dynamic with Molly was one of my favorite parts of the story.

On top of the main storyline, the subplots added so much depth and entertainment to the book. They kept the pacing engaging and made the world and characters feel even more developed. Overall, this was a captivating and enjoyable read that kept me invested from start to finish.
