This is an explosive series with a new twist in the vampire legends. You will want to add Volume 1 to your books. I LOVE this storyline and cannot wait for Volume 2 to make its appearance to continue the storyline~ April is a normal human in a world ran amok with vampires. No family, friends, or even real enemies. She lives on the streets after her family disappeared.
In recent days, she has made a new friend, Mutt the dog. He has a helicopter tail. He LOVES April and is VERY protective of her at all times. She absolutely adores Mutt, and will do anything to ensure his survival. She meets two siblings she hopes will become her new friends and pseudo family. One night she goes to find supplies and ends up in the Italian vamps’ arms.
Everyone is terrified, even the vamps, of Sebastian, Marcus and the others. They are here for one reason – and the council members will not like the results. Once April and Mutt enter the picture life becomes chaotic as all get out. Betrayals, secrets, life saving missions, magic, reincarnation, rituals, takeovers, action-packed fight scenes, the list goes on and on.
April only wants a family to love and love her back. Now, everyone has driven her to one thing – REVENGE! The battles and skirmishes are nothing compared to the WAR April will bring to everyone. Fasten your seatbelts, get out your popcorn, get comfy, and prepare to have your knickers blown off~ The first volume will definitely read as a movie script that will live on until the second volume arrives to give us even more material to live through.

This started off strong, the plot the twists it was amazing but the last 10% of the book felt anticlimactic like what the hell, I was expecting more, more fight, more intense structure it just felt clean cut and simple, especially after all the fighting in between and betrayal just for it to feel easy and rushed.
Beside the ending feeling of, the whole book was great I was hooked, it gave twists and turns you didn't see and betrayal you didn't expect to happen, so you really don't know who to trust when you are reading.
The growth of the characters especially the main characters were intriguing.
I like the whole vampire scene and the council to rule the humans for live blood bags plus other stuff I won't spoil but I really did enjoy this book, I just felt cheated for that ending especially what you get put through as a reader.
I'm hoping book two adds on to this as it doesn't feel finished and very clean.

What a start of a new series! I had a hard time putting this one down!! It was a fresh spin on vampires and I really enjoyed reading this - excited for book 2 to come out so we can stay in this world!
There’s action, fights, drama and a DOG named MUTT!! He becomes April’s family and they’ll do everything to protect each other.
April has nothing really - her family disappeared, she avoids humans and does her best to avoid the monsters that come out at night….until her fate puts her in the hands of a vampire.
If you loved Twilight and Vampire Academy, you should definitely add this one to your list! The storyline is easy to follow and you’ll want to keep turning the pages long past bedtime to find out what happens! Thank you BookSirens and Maya for the early read. All opinions are my own.

This book had me hooked within the first chapter!! Such a refreshing take on vampires.
If you like Vampire Academy, Twilight and Blood like Poison you will love this book!
April is used to surviving on her own ~ hiding from her not so fellow humans and the monsters of the night, but lady luck runs out and she lands in the hands of the monsters she spent her life hiding from!
I couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what happens next! The world and all the characters are so well written that reading was so effortless and enjoyable that added to the whole experience.
I can't wait to find out what happens next! I'm calling it now ~ This is going to be an Epic series!!

4.5 ⭐️ An FMC that will burn the world for him? Yes please! Internal struggle about identify, “old magic”, and vampire politics come together for an intense read. Set in current times with ancient powers at play, there is backstabbing and found family and learning who is truly loyal. I loved it! This book helped me get back into reading. The story is well-written, and the world-building and character development are spot-on. I hope to read more of Maya’s stories—I was captivated by her storytelling and narrative style.

Resurrection has several familiar ingredients from YA fantasy vampire novels: vampires rule a society that places humans at the bottom of both the social and feeding hierarchies, an underdog survivor has the future of a new world order in her hands, and the people she once thought were enemies rely on her for the salvation of the vampire world.
For me, what makes this novel stand out from a typical vampire novel is not the plot itself but the amount of attention Maya Daniels gives to April’s emotional journey.
The author spends a great deal of time inside April’s head. Rather than racing from one action sequence to another, Daniels explores April’s fears, loneliness, distrust, hope, and growing capacity for attachment. The recurring idea that “Fear is useless” (p.3) becomes the foundation of April’s development from a starving survivor focused solely on staying alive into someone capable of dreaming, creating emotional connections, and eventually leading.
One of the author’s greatest strengths is her ability to enrich a relatively straightforward plot through psychological depth. Much of the novel’s momentum comes not from external events but from how characters process and respond to those events. At times, this worked extremely well, allowing me to understand every stage of April’s transformation. At other times, particularly during transitions between major plot developments, the introspection occasionally slowed the pacing and made the story feel longer than necessary.
My favourite character is Mutt.
In many fantasy novels, the animal companion exists simply to be loyal or adorable. Here, Mutt becomes April’s emotional anchor because he reminds her of her humanity. Through him, I saw sides of April that she hid from everyone else. Page after page, she insists she doesn’t need anyone, yet she feeds him, protects him, worries about him, and slowly allows herself to love again. More than once, I found myself reading non-stop to make sure Mutt was okay.
Their relationship also humanises April in a way that no romance initially can. One of the most touching realisations in the novel comes when she understands what Mutt truly represents: “Someone to share with, to break the loneliness with. A family.” (p.383).
Daniels is particularly strong at sensory and psychological storytelling. Rather than simply describing the vampire world, she filters everything through April’s emotional experience. Her encounters with Sebastian, the vampire hierarchy, and the Council were addictive because I experienced them through her uncertainty, fear, attraction, and suspicion. The vampires feel less like stock villains and more like forces reshaping her understanding of herself and the world around her. A line that perfectly captures this shift is: “I was in the mouth of the beast, and instead of eating me alive, he released me, knowing full well that he would never see me again” (p.161).
Resurrection does not reinvent vampire fantasy. It embraces many familiar tropes and follows a recognisable framework. What makes it a bingeable story is April’s character development, her attachment to Mutt, and Daniels’ ability to immerse readers in April’s emotional and sensory experience. Those elements gave the story tons of heart and kept me invested long after the familiar genre elements had revealed themselves.
I’m giving this novel five stars because of Daniels’ remarkable ability to transport readers into April’s dark world, shaped by cruelty, oppression, and dehumanisation. The story is immersive from beginning to end, and Mutt is one of the most memorable canine companions I’ve encountered in the genre so far.
