GOD TIER SERIES!
What can I say I am obsessed! Absolutely amazing second book! The intense story line and incredible characters will have you reeling! Kept me hooked the whole way through and doesn't rush you through anything constantly keeping you guessing and theorizing, cannot wait to find out what comes next! Excellent character building, I'm obsessed with Blair! Everyone needs to read this series you won't be disappointed! 💓

Wow. WTF -- what an ending!!! and honestly this is one of my most conflicting reviews I've made so far. Because there are so many elements that I feel are well done but similarly, elements that fell flat for me. Overall a solid read -- albeit slightly infuriating.
Let's start with a quick synopsis: Melody, Blair, and Asir left the Kingdom of the Two Moons and went into hiding to Earth for one year. During this time Blair goes off the deep end, Melody is barely staying alive because she is unable to use her magic, and Asir is forced to stay in a baby dragon form. Finally Melody allows Caryan to know where she is, makes a deal with him, and Riven goes to get them from Earth. This is where the story takes off and Melody is forced to go to a magic school as her and Caryan's agreement goes. Let's go into a deep dive as to why I gave it a 3.85 stars and why I am so conflicted.

📖 Storyline / Plot 15%: 3 -- Solid, but overall plot stays at a 3 for me same as book 1 because the first 30-40% of the book felt very random to me and felt that the plot developed messily and that a lot of it especially at the beginning and the bargain with Caryan didn't make sense to me. It felt like it was forced into the storyline based based on how the beginning of the book started. I felt it didn't go. But really the whole point of book 2 story line was to Melody's experience at this magic school and THAT is when things started getting interesting.
✍️ Prose & Writing Style 15%: 4 -- Good, Like book 1 I think the multiple POV and tenses are fantastic.
💕 Romance Chemistry 15%: 4 -- As much as I dislike Caryan for 99% of this book, the romantic chemsitry between Melody, Caryan/Riven is well-done and felt through the pages. I think for me, ultimately Book 3 can either make or break this series and category for me because a lot of the book Melody talked about free-will and her heart choosing Riven, yet when she found out about the mate bond she seemed all-in for Caryan. If this is true, I think for me -- that will be a fatal flaw for this series. So it will all hinges on book 3 IMO. But at the same time the romance is well done that it DOES grip you and you want to know what happens... which at the same time is infuriating when Riven is so pure.
🌍 World-Building 15%: 4 -- Good, world building got better this book. I think the university setting helped a lot with this.
🎭 Character Development 10% 4 -- Good, I really liked the introduction of secondary characters in this book and felt that they lifted the story.
⚡ Pacing & Structure 10% : 4 -- Good, overall pace -- with the exception of the first 10-15% of the book.
😮 Emotional Impact 20%: 4 -- Good The ending infuriated me which leads me to believe it does have an emotional impact on me which is why I gave it a 4. Honestly I'm team Riven and I'll be damned if he doesn't end up the winner in the end.

Still Thinking About That Ending
This sequel pulled me right back into Melody’s journey, and I was hooked all over again from the very first chapter. Every answer seemed to lead to even more questions, and I couldn’t stop trying to figure out where everything was headed.
The mystery, political intrigue, and romance blended together so well, and I loved coming up with new theories as the story unfolded. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, another twist proved me wrong.
Can we talk about the love triangle for a second? I kept going back and forth throughout the book, but the more I read, the more I found myself rooting for Riven. Once the mate bond with Caryan came into play, I could see Melody starting to look at him differently, and I was over here thinking, “Girl… if Riven is who you want, just make your move already!” 😂
And that ending… I literally sat there staring at the last page wondering how I’m supposed to wait for Book 3. This series just keeps getting better, and I’ll definitely be picking up the next installment the moment it’s released.

The first book in the series seemed interesting, with a naive heroine thrust into a cruel world and a sprinkle of a love triangle.
This did not deliver. The heroine is still naive, but suffers from severe mood swings that make little sense. The only thing she gets right is that both her love interests are condescending and mean to her. She also miraculously passes all her tests on a very special university even though she attends only half her classes but still manages to be more skillful that all her teachers who are hundreds of years older than her (right).
On top of that, the love triangle. We end up being told that the First love interest is the heroine's mate, but she was originally the Second love interest's mate: oracles decided to twist things when First was dying and Second begged for his life. So fate decided to punish all three, basically. And there's 0 free will involved.
I'm sorry, but I won't keep reading.

This book dives straight back into the action where book 1 left off, and goes on a hell of a rollercoaster. I wasn't massively invested in the first half of the book, and the scenes in the human world felt a bit meta with allusions to things such as Fourth Wing and Game of Thrones. The story really kicks into gear once Melody arrives at the university, and the second half of the book is much better, with the last few chapters leaving you wanting more.
I still massively dislike Caryan in this book, so I was disappointed not to get more of Riven's POV. I loved Blair's character development though, and am hoping to see more of her POV in the future. I'm also really intrigued to see where the story will go with other characters we are introduced to.

This book was absolutely amazing. I love the story of Melody and Carian It definitely left me hanging and waiting for book 3. It has magic, fae, wolves, witches!! If you love the supernatural, this is a book for you!

Book 2 in the series picks up Melody and Blair’s story in the mortal world before returning to the Fae realm, where Melody must adapt to a new city and way of life while honouring her bargain with Caryan.
This book is packed with tension, intrigue, and mystery, alongside a complicated love triangle that constantly leaves you questioning who to root for. One moment I’m convinced Melody belongs with Riven, and the next I find myself thinking, no, she needs them both!
The intense plot, combined with the strong character and relationship development, keeps you on edge throughout. I was constantly forming new theories and eager to discover what would happen next.
That ending completely floored me. I’m still reeling from it and can’t believe I now have to wait for Book 3. I’m more than ready for the next instalment!

I was willing to overlook the somewhat out of character dialogues and frequent small plot holes, but you lost me at the MMCs long lost twin brother.
