Eva writes stories where “morally gray” is just the vanilla version of a personality. In her books, the female characters are strong women who can handle everything on their own just fine—but really, who could resist a 6’4 man willing to destroy the world just to make her happy?

If she ever goes missing, it’s probably because she finally got that vineyard in southern Italy and is living there happily with her two cats, Momo and Pepe.

And mostly…

HE. IS. NOT. A. GOOD. PERSON.

Not now. Not later. Not ever.

So if that’s sent you running instead of screaming, then Darkest Obsession by Eva Morozova might just be your next obsession.

First things first, read the trigger warnings. They are there for a reason and your mental health is always more important than any book. Eva takes readers into some very dark places and she doesn’t soften the edges.

Now…

The second I read the dedication—

“To all the good girls who want to be worshiped like saints, and fucked like sinners. Same, babe. Same.”

—I knew I was in trouble.

The good kind.

As a dark romance reader who lives for a fierce FMC, Victoria had me completely captivated from page one. She’s sharp, dangerous, obsessive, and utterly unapologetic. She isn’t trying to be good. She isn’t looking for redemption. She’s simply surviving the only way she knows how, while slowly losing her grip on the control she’s built her entire life around.

Then she meets Azrael.

And what unfolds between them isn’t romance in the conventional sense. It’s fascination. Recognition. Obsession. Two people staring into the abyss and finding something familiar staring back.

The thing I loved most about this book was that Eva never asks you to excuse these characters. They are messy, destructive, and often completely unhinged. Yet somehow I found myself unable to look away. Every chapter pulled me deeper into their twisted dynamic, desperate to see who would break first.

Victoria and Azrael aren’t each other’s salvation.

They’re each other’s downfall.

And honestly? That’s what made this so addictive.

I flew through this book in less than twenty-four hours because once it got its claws into me, it refused to let go. The chemistry is intense, the tension is razor sharp, and the obsession between these two feels like standing in the path of an oncoming storm and choosing not to move.

If your dark romance heart enjoys psychopaths, stalkers, morally black characters, dangerous devotion, and relationships that blur every possible line, then Darkest Obsession deserves a place on your TBR.

Just don’t expect to walk away untouched.

4.5⭐️ This was definitely a different read! I was not expecting the level of darkness it held. It caught me off guard in the best way.

True to its description, this is a psychological dark romance. It stayed true to that from beginning to end. The atmosphere was dark and unsettling. I was completely invested.

I was obsessed with the deranged characters. They were both crazy in their own ways and that dynamic worked extremely well. Their interactions kept me hooked.

My only complaint is that Azrael called Victoria a bitch. It just wasn’t it for me.

And that ending? Excuse me… what the hell?? I absolutely did not see that coming and now I need answers. I’ll definitely be waiting for book two because I have to know what happens next!

“For you?” he answers. “I'll be both. I'll destroy myself to protect you.”

Thank you to Eva Morozova and Love Notes PR for providing me with an ARC 🖤
All opinions are my own.

5⭐️

I’m still trying to process everything because Darkest Obsession was my very first ARC, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better book to start this journey with. I was already incredibly excited about getting the chance to read this story before its release, but after finishing it, I was even more excited about how amazing the entire experience turned out to be.

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from Darkest Obsession, but it was far more intense than I had imagined. This book constantly had me thinking about the characters and their choices. What stood out to me the most was how much this story stayed on my mind. Even when I wasn’t reading, I kept thinking about the characters, replaying scenes in my head, and wondering what was going to happen next. Every time I had to put the book down, I couldn’t wait to pick it up again and continue reading.

One of my favorite things about this book was how morally complex the characters were. No one was completely good or completely bad. They all carried their own demons, flaws, and scars, which made them feel real. There were moments when they frustrated me, moments when I didn’t understand their decisions at all, but that only made me more invested in their story.

The atmosphere was dark, intense, and at times unsettling in the best possible way. Some scenes gave me chills, while others left me sitting in silence, trying to process everything I had just read. I especially appreciated that the author didn’t shy away from the darker aspects of the story and allowed the emotional moments to have a real impact.

What I loved most about Darkest Obsession was how much it made me feel. This isn’t the kind of book you read and immediately forget about. It stays with you, making you think about the characters and their journey long after you’ve turned the final page.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC reader, especially since it was my very first ARC.

📚 Book 1 in the Hell's Flames Series
🗣️ Dual POV
🖤 M/F

Well...this book was absolutely unhinged and I mean in the best way.

If you're looking for healthy relationships, stable characters, or literally anyone making good decisions, this is not the book for you. Please also make sure you check your trigger warnings cause this book is unhinged and makes no apologies.

Victoria is a seriously fascinating character. She's a hitwoman, she's spiraling, and she's one inconvenience away from completely snapping, and yet somehow I was rooting for her the entire time. She isn't softened down to make her more likable, and I loved that. She gets to be just as dangerous and morally questionable as everyone around her.

And Azrael? Sir. What is wrong with you? 😭

The man studies psychopaths and somehow looks at a spiraling female assassin and thinks, "yes, this seems like a great idea." The obsession between these two was immediate, intense, and honestly a little terrifying. Not in a cute dark romance way either. In a genuine "these people should never have met" kind of way.

Their relationship isn't about fixing each other. It's about finding someone who understands all the worst parts of you and deciding that's actually a bonus. The dynamic was so unique because neither of them is pretending to be a good person. They know exactly what they are.

What honestly kept me hooked was how completely obsessed they became with each other. Every interaction felt like watching two disasters slowly collide in real time, and I could not look away.

Dark, disturbing, addictive, and exactly the kind of psychological romance that leaves you staring at a wall for a few minutes after finishing.

I love it when two pretty little psychos play mind games with each other and this psychological dark romance fulfilled every dark craving in my mind. I love it when there’s some mutual stalking, as Victoria our amazing psychopath hitwoman seeks the attention of an equally psychotic psychology professor (the irony am I right?) who loves to experiment on humans. Both of them have no morals and limited capacity for feelings/emotions but although they can deny it all they want, their obsession with each other quickly turns into love. There is so much chemistry and tension between them and I loved their banter and little mind games as I tried to figure out which of these two psychos truly had the upper hand (honestly neither because they were both so gone for each other) but you’ll get the answer in the end. There is a major and pretty insane plot twist at the end which I loved and it makes me so excited for the next book in this duet. Victoria and Azrael have such an interesting dynamic as they both want to use the other person but end up getting attached, and I can’t wait to see what is next for them. There also is some pretty unhinged smut and I was loving every second of it so hopefully there’s more of that in the next book… I totally enjoyed this but it is on the darker side of dark romance so please read check the trigger warnings. I give this a 4.5/5

Darkest Obsession by Eva Morozova. The title definitely doesn’t do this one justice. The book is dark and is not for the light hearted readers. I recommend you take the trigger warnings seriously. However I am completely mind blown. This book was so engrossing I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved the dark and twisted story line. I mean what do you get when you cross a hired killer with no emotions and a psychopath one hell of a book with a twisted dominating romance. The cliff hanger 🤯. It left so many questions and well I need to know what happened like now! This book is definitely super spicy and is again very dark and twisted and unhinged. I totally freaking loved it! 😍

Honestly this was not an easy read for me and I had to force myself to way through it. I just felt like the beginning of the story dragged and just wasn’t pulling me in and when a book starts like that it’s real hard for me to enjoy it.

Darkest Obsession completely consumed my thoughts from the moment I started reading it. 🖤 From the very first chapters, I knew this wasn't going to be a typical dark romance, but I wasn't prepared for just how gripping, unsettling, and addictive it would become. Even when I wasn't actively reading, I found myself replaying scenes in my head, analyzing character motivations, and desperately wondering what would happen next. 📖✨

What immediately sets this story apart is its unique premise. Instead of following the usual formula, Eva flips expectations on their head and gives us Victoria—a highly skilled hitwoman who thrives on routine, control, and emotional detachment. Her carefully structured existence is the only thing keeping her inner darkness contained, and watching her navigate a world she views through such a different lens was fascinating. 🖤🔪

Then there's Azrael.

And honestly? He was every bit as intriguing as Victoria. A former human behavior researcher turned professor, Azrael is a man who understands manipulation, psychology, and control better than almost anyone. The moment these two cross paths, the story transforms into a dangerous game where neither player is willing to surrender. 😮‍💨🔥

What I absolutely loved was the reversal of traditional roles. Victoria becomes fixated on Azrael, convinced he may hold the answers she's been searching for. But while she believes she's the one watching from the shadows, Azrael is already several moves ahead. Their dynamic quickly evolves into a battle of wills where power constantly shifts between them, making every interaction feel charged with tension and unpredictability. 👀⚡

Neither character could be described as traditionally heroic, and that's exactly what made them so compelling. They are deeply flawed individuals carrying emotional wounds, destructive tendencies, and complicated pasts. There were moments when I questioned their choices, moments when they frustrated me, and moments when I couldn't look away. Their moral ambiguity made them feel authentic rather than idealized. 🩶

The chemistry between Victoria and Azrael is impossible to ignore. Their connection isn't built on simple attraction—it's fueled by obsession, curiosity, power struggles, and a shared understanding of darkness. Watching them challenge each other was endlessly entertaining because neither one is willing to back down. Every conversation felt like a carefully calculated move in a psychological chess match. ♟️🖤

The atmosphere throughout the novel deserves special praise. Darkest Obsession carries an almost haunting energy that lingers long after you put the book down. Some scenes left me uncomfortable in the best possible way, while others had me completely captivated by the emotional intensity. Eva fully embraces the darker themes of the story and allows them to have real weight rather than using them for shock value alone. 🌙✨

Another standout aspect was the character growth. Watching Victoria and Azrael confront pieces of themselves they would rather ignore added so much depth to the story. Their individual journeys were just as compelling as the romance itself, and seeing those layers gradually unfold kept me invested from beginning to end.

The plot also delivered plenty of surprises. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another twist would appear and completely change my expectations. The pacing kept me engaged throughout, and there was never a point where my interest wavered. 🔥📚

And then came that ending...

I genuinely sat there staring at the page in disbelief. 😱 The final chapters completely blindsided me, and I may or may not have loudly questioned my life choices after reaching the last page. That cliffhanger was brutal, and now I desperately need the next book because I am far too emotionally invested to be left hanging like this. 😭🖤

Darkest Obsession is bold, intense, psychologically compelling, and refreshingly different from many books in the genre. Between the morally gray characters, the addictive cat-and-mouse dynamic, the emotional depth, and the shocking twists, this is a story that refuses to leave your mind long after it's over.

Eva has created something dark, distinctive, and impossible to forget—and now I'm impatiently waiting for book two. 🖤✨📖

Dear Eva,

I'm writing this review as a letter because I genuinely want these words to reach you!

Getting to know you, even through a screen, has been such a wonderful surprise that I need to start by saying this: not only did I absolutely love your work and think this book was incredible, but I've also come to adore the person you are. I already can't wait to meet you in person, because that's definitely going to happen!

Now, I honestly don't know whether I love you or hate you... seriously! I love you for your writing, I love these two completely unhinged characters who are so incredibly complex and brilliantly developed. But I also hate you for that ending!

WHAT WAS THAT?! AND HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE UNTIL FEBRUARY 2027?!

This book is dark. Really dark. The kind of dark that's almost crossing into red territory. But don't make the mistake of thinking it's filled with dark romance clichés, because it isn't. I'm still trying to process everything that happened, and I genuinely had to pick up something lighter afterwards because these two are psychopaths in the truest sense of the word!

What impressed me most was the moral complexity of these characters. No one is completely good, and no one is completely evil. They all carry their own demons, flaws, and scars, which makes them feel unbelievably real. There were moments when they frustrated me, moments when I couldn't understand their choices at all, but that only made me more invested in their story.

And the psychological darkness? Absolutely brilliant. The way it was explored was so intense, so informed, and at the same time so deeply disturbing and macabre that I couldn't help but fall completely in love with every aspect of it.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Darkest Obsession, especially since I only looked at the trigger warnings after I finished it... (yes, I've clearly stopped having limits!), but it was far more intense than I ever imagined.

This book constantly had me thinking about the characters and their choices. What stood out to me the most was how deeply this story stayed with me. Even when I wasn't reading, I kept thinking about them, replaying scenes in my head, and trying to figure out what was going to happen next.

And all the theories my reading buddy and I came up with? Every single one of them destroyed. Crushed. Obliterated. And damn it... there are still so many answers we need!

The atmosphere is dark, intense, and at times unsettling in the best possible way. Some scenes genuinely gave me chills, while others left me sitting in complete silence, trying to process what I had just read. I especially loved the fact that you never shied away from the darkest aspects of the story and allowed every emotional moment to hit exactly as hard as it needed to.

The little details about the characters made this book even more special. Victoria's love for wine, her decision to adopt a kitten, and the beautiful relationship she builds with him are the kinds of details that make characters feel whole. They're what allow us to connect with them on a deeper level and see them as real people rather than just names on a page.

The way this book made me feel was everything. This isn't the kind of story you read and immediately forget. It's the kind that stays with you, that keeps creeping into your thoughts long after you've turned the final page.

And just one more thing: what I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in that classroom at the end, when someone is hiding under a table! Seriously, what an unbelievably good scene. Beautiful, intense, and ridiculously sexy. Eva, you write tension, chemistry, and smut like nobody else. Thank you for that, because it was absolutely amazing!

And now all that's left for us to do is wait. Suffer. Create theories. Destroy them. Repeat. And count down the days until February 2027.

Or sooner... if you decide to surprise us!

A huge kiss for one of my favourite authors already, and see you soon!

Darkest Obsession thrusts readers into a world where psychological darkness and erotic tension intertwine in a provocative dance. This psychological dark romance centers on two disturbingly captivating characters: Victoria, a hit woman accustomed to danger, and Azrael, a professor whose experiments on human behavior mask a far more sinister nature. The premise promises and delivers a high-stakes game of obsession, manipulation, and raw, unsettling desire, making it a worthy read for fans craving an addictive and twisted love story.

What stands out remarkably in this plot is the masterful portrayal of its protagonists. Victoria and Azrael are not your typical romantic leads; instead, they are deeply flawed, dangerous individuals whose obsession with each other spirals into a perilous psychological battlefield. Their interplay feels authentic within the genre's dark corners, and both characters exhibit a possessiveness and intensity that’s gripping rather than off-putting. Azrael, in particular, emerges as a chilling enigma whose professorial facade barely conceals the layers of psychosis beneath, crafting a villain and lover that readers oddly dread and root for at the same time.

The plot excels at weaving psychological mind games that keep the reader on edge. The plot is anything but predictable. Twists unfold with genuine surprise, and the escalating tension between Victoria and Azrael is electrifying. The shift from Azrael’s initial intent to break Victoria emotionally to unexpectedly developing feelings adds an intriguing complexity to their relationship and ensures the story never stagnates. This dynamic invites us to question who really holds the power and what each character truly desires, beyond their surface intentions.

The balance between steamy, kink-infused scenes and psychological depth is handled with a daring frankness that both unsettles and fascinates. It’s worth noting that the plot embraces the darker shades of sexual exploration, so potential readers should heed the trigger warnings seriously. This is a romance that challenges comfort zones and delves unapologetically into the taboo, a choice that will delight some and repel others.

On the downside, the book does conclude on a cliffhanger, which can be frustrating for those who prefer resolution within a single installment. However, this plot choice also fuels anticipation for the sequel, a promising indication that the story's layered darkness will deepen further.

Darkest Obsession is a thrilling debut that unflinchingly dives into the minds and desires of two tumultuous characters entwined in a dangerous game of obsession. It’s perfect for readers who crave dark romance with psychological complexity, gripping tension, and a hefty dose of provocative kink. If you enjoy stories that blur the lines between love and madness and keep you glued to every twist and turn, this is a compelling addition to your reading list.

Ultimately, Darkest Obsession asks a haunting question: what happens when two broken souls not only find each other but also embrace their shared darkness instead of fleeing from it? It’s a question that will linger long after the last page, and perhaps, like me, you’ll eagerly await the next chapter in this dangerously twisted saga.

If You Blush Easily, Look Away Now

Trigger Warning: Darkest Obsession is a pitch-black dark romance that features psychopaths, stalking, morally black characters, extreme toxic dynamics, and heavy spice. Please check the author's full content warnings before diving in, as this book is not for the faint of heart!

Confession time: I flew through this book in two days. Was it the best thing to be listening to or reading while trying to finish office notes? Absolutely not. Did I do it anyway? Yes. I ended up tackling the last 70% in a massive, five-hour reading sprint. To say this book is addictive is a massive understatement. When I first started, I thought it wasn’t going to be for me. I genuinely worried I’d been fooled by a pretty cover. But the sheer emotional rollercoaster of that last 30%? Holy cow. If you're looking for a smutty, pitch-black romance, this is it—and I already know so many of my reading friends are going to absolutely devour it.

As a dark romance reader who hasn’t dipped her toes into waters this dark since college, I was completely captivated by Victoria. She is an absolute force on the page—vicious, razor-sharp, and entirely unbothered by anyone else's moral compass. What makes her so fascinating is that she isn't angling for a redemption arc, nor is she secretly hoping to be saved. She is simply a survivor playing a dangerous game, even as the walls of her highly controlled world start closing in on her. Then she meets Azrael, who doesn't just match her energy—he expands it. He is the match to her gasoline.

What ignites between them completely defies the rules of a conventional romance. It is a toxic, mesmerizing cocktail of deep-seated fascination and mutual obsession. It feels like two fractured souls standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down into a pitch-black abyss and realizing they are finally looking at a mirror image. Eva doesn't try to sugarcoat or excuse their actions, either. They are profoundly messy, destructive, and often completely unhinged. Every single chapter feels like a glorious, high-stakes trainwreck that you cannot look away from. Reading a book through your fingers while blushing like crazy is the ultimate compliment for a dark romance, and this delivered. Fair warning: if you blush easily, this is not for you, doll!

Ultimately, Victoria and Azrael aren't here to heal each other; they are here to tear each other apart, and that mutual ruin is exactly what makes the story so impossible to put down. If your dark romance heart thrives on psychopaths, stalkers, morally black leads, and dangerous devotions that blur every single line of decency, then Darkest Obsession absolutely deserves a top spot on your TBR. Just don’t expect to walk away untouched. I started this book thinking it would be a three-star read at best, but I am officially a total convert. Bring on book two!

What an amazing book!
I had high expectations based on what the author had been revealing about the story, but I didn’t expect to find a dark romance tailor-made for me!
A badass, psychopathic, and sarcastic female lead? ✔️
A morally corrupt male lead? ✔️
A constant attempt to dominate the other, which feels more like an intense tango? ✔️
Laughing out loud at the female lead’s attitude? ✔️
A well-developed plot with a hair-pulling final twist? ✔️
Smut loaded with sensuality, daring, and darkness? ✔️

I’m in love with Victoria and Azrael’s story—the dynamic between them, the tension, the fine line they walk between sanity and madness, the obsession that binds them and is fueled by a vibrant desire that turned this story into a sweeping tango I couldn’t stop reading.
Azrael knows no bounds and will test yours.

The SMUT scenes in this book are brimming with eroticism and sensuality. The bedroom scene and the classroom scene…🥵 Don’t read this book in public…. 😂

The writing is wonderful, and I’m completely hooked.
I just have two problems:
What kind of ending was that???? (SCREAMING!)
How am I supposed to wait until February for the next book??? (Hyperventilating!)
I need the second book for yesterday!

Thank you Eva for letting me be part of this 🩷

🇵🇹

A escrita é maravilhosa e eu estou rendida.
Só tenho dois problemas:
Que final foi aquele???? (GRITOS!)
Como é que vou esperar por fevereiro pela continuação desta história??? (Hiperventilar!)
Preciso do segundo livro para ontem!

Obrigada Eva por me deixares fazer parte disto 🩷

Release date - June 23rd 📆

Add to your TBR right now and pre order available🖤

So let me start off by saying just wow…I’ve devoured this book in less than 24 hours and to say I’m now obsessed just as the characters are in this story is is an understatement🥵 you know you’re going to love a story when you’re hooked by the first chapter and I was hook, line and sinker🖤

So this isn’t your typical story of where the MMC is just the stalker, nope! Meet FMC Victoria who is a hitman who feels no emotions, just lives her life by structure does her job and that’s that. She needs it to control the demons at bay in her head. Until she comes across our MMC Azrael. He’s currently a professor, but an ex human researcher a.k.a (professional psychopath creator).👀

He intrigues her and makes her think that he may be the solution to her problem, but will he be able to make her feel something? Anything as long as it’s some sort of emotion, and what better way than to have the psychopath who studies psychopaths do what he knows best? That’s enough to draw her in. Yes that’s right, she turns into the stalker and stalks him. She thinks she’s got the upper hand, but Azrael is always one step ahead and stalks her straight back😈

It’s a fight for dominance and submission. They both have met a match with their darkness, both fighting demons where she wants to slay and he wants to control.
Azrael is always the manipulator and in control, but Victoria changes all that and gives him a taste of his own medicine. They are both “shattered souls trying to own and be owned.” ☠️

The character devolvement is chefs kiss, and the chemistry between them both is fire🔥 there’s obsession, possession and if you like all things unhinged where there is no moral compass then this book is going to be right up your street!

There is good plot and twists, the ending I actually shouted out loud “what the fxck”!! I will pre warn you all, there is a big cliffhanger and I really need the second book to find out what happens!! I’m so invested🙌🏼

Thank you so much to Eva for giving us such a good unique and fresh story, it was so nice to read something new and not stereotypical and I am eagerly waiting on the second book😍

As always, please check the trigger warnings before reading and make sure you can handle the darkness before starting!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 STARS!!!

i have not read a dark romance in a while where the plot was plotting SO GOOD and there's spice in the midst of it. it's like if The Mindf*ck Series by the late S.T. Abby & the tv show Nikita had a baby, but it comes out super unhinged & hungry for blood. the FMC, Victoria, is a baddie bloodthirsty hitwoman who hopes to feel something other than the thrill that killing gives her; the MMC, Azrael, is a professor who allegedly knows how to psychologically alter the brain but becomes far too fascinated with his new subject. both are, in their own ways, psychopaths who becomes the other's slow undoing. there are no morally good characters in this book. (actually, maybe Cat? lol.)

yes, there is spice on page. it's twisted and depraved. their inabilities to back down and their pride wants to completely consume the other... but to what point? they don't know their own limits, so how far will Victoria and Azrael go? these characters are so flawed & deranged in many layers. it's both fascinating and demented. BUT MY GAWD THE SPICE! little ember? more like burn down the house, why don't cha!? sidenote: Victoria's nonchalance in the way she talks back to Azrael to get under his skin got a few giggles out of me.

i loved this read and ate up every second of it, finishing it in under 24hrs. the story took a few turns i did not expect. it blew my mind each time! i literally screamed during the entirety of the last couple pages. an exaggeration? a little. but it felt that way bcuz HELLO... CLIFFHANGER!?!?! i'm gonna need the next book like YESTERDAY! did i cry?? YES. ABSOLUTELY. not the emotion i was expecting to feel considering all the ways i've already described this book.

do i recommend? even at 65%, i couldn't stop talking about it to anyone who'd hear me out. i mean, the dedication alone had me clutching my pearls not realizing the rollercoaster it would truly take me on. this book is probably going to be my personality for the unforseeable future. as always, keep in mind the trigger warnings. but do be warned... your flabbers will be ghasted!

disclaimer: this book was read as an ARC thanks to Flying Pig PR & the author, Eva Morozova. i leave this review of my own volition. all thoughts and opinions are mine.

Eva I need more! NOW! I will do anything (and I mean anything), if you just give me book two!

This was literally everything that I could have wanted it to be and then some. I'm a sucker for a good dark romance and this book delivered that and so much more.
You get stalker x stalker, obsession, begging, spice, all with actual unhinged characters.
The FMC is a hired killer and the MMC is a professor and a previous researcher who created psychopaths. Literally what more could you ask for?

No but in all honestly, I really loved this. Like LOVED it to bits. I was hooked from the dedication and first sentence alone and immediately knew I was in for a ride. As someone who reads mostly dark romance, this felt different then a lot of the others ones that I have read. The characters were complex, the plot was plotting, the spicy was spicy, and it was actually dark and that darkness wasn’t shied away from or used for shock value, it provided depth to the characters and the storyline.

The dual POV allows readers to be able to get through process behind the character and understanding their (sometime bad) decisions better and made me more invested in the story.

This book was absolutely EVERYTHING I could have asked for in a book.
THAT ENDING THOUGH?! It had me swiping back and forth between the pages as if suddenly more would appear. This is a book that I will be thinking about until book 2 comes out. February 23rd is already marking in my calendar.

If you're a lover of dark romance, complex characters, spice, and any of the following tropes, add this to your TBR immediately!

Tropes:
🩶 Morally Grey Anti-hero
✨ Stalker x Stalker
🩶 Serial Killer (not him, her)
✨ Enemies to Lovers
🩶 Taboo
✨ Begging
🩶 Touch Him And Die
✨ “Fuck It”
🩶 Blurred Lines of Morality
✨ Joker x Harley Quinn vibes

Eva, you created a masterpiece! Readers are gonna love it!

ARC READ:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 5/5
🌶️ Spice: 4/5

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Before I dive into this review, just know this book ends on a cliffhanger. And let me tell you, I was upset. I was demolishing this book like it was the last piece of cake, and then BOOM—cliffhanger 😭 lol.

Eva Morozova’s writing style had me completely hooked. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter,” and we all know how that goes. Which means I’ll definitely be picking up book two when it comes out.

Now, getting into the book…

Both the FMC and MMC are morally grey. Actually, scratch that....they’re borderline pitch black for anyone who thinks otherwise 😂.

We have Victoria: hitwoman, stalker, psychopath, and completely obsessed with Azrael.

Then we have Azrael: professor, creator of psychopaths, and equally obsessed with Victoria… although it takes a little while before we get to see that side of him.

All Victoria wants is someone who can help her control the bloodlust that’s been steadily getting worse. By pure happenstance, she discovers Azrael through the dark web, and from there it becomes obsession at first sight. Naturally, she decides to stalk him. What she doesn’t realize is that Azrael is fully aware of what she’s doing and is laying traps for her every step of the way. What follows is a twisted game of stalking, manipulation, obsession, and attraction as these two continue circling each other. The chemistry is intense, the tension is constant, and neither of them can seem to stay away from the other.

There are some dark spicy scenes, some very creative ways to get rid of people, and enough possessiveness between these two to make you question everyone’s life choices. Honestly, they don’t just embody possessive... they redefine it.

Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in, but if you enjoy dark romance, morally grey characters, obsession, and a story that keeps you turning pages long past your bedtime, this one is worth adding to your Kindle Unlimited TBR.

Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for book two.

ARC REVIEW

What was this?! OMG, what a book!! 👏👏👏
Thank you, Eva Morozova, for this ARC, it was truly exciting to read this first book of the Hell's Flames series! I was very curious about this book, and it did not disappoint!!

This is a (very) dark psychological romance, and incredibly intense. We're used to having one stalker, but in this book, we have two! She starts stalking him, and he lets her do it. And when she stops, he gets furious and starts stalking her. Lovely 🤭

Our FMC, Victoria, is a killer on-demand, with A LOT of issues and a great wine connoisseur. At first, she approaches Azrael to get his help, she needs to feel something, whatever it is. He’s just a means to an end.
And then we have Azrael, a professor and expert in psychology and psychiatry and a former human researcher. For him, she's just another subject of a project, and he agrees to help Victoria only to see her break.

When two psychopaths get together, we already know the result will be destructive for both of them...

The obsession they both feel becomes so intense that it becomes a need, something inevitable... The possessiveness and the tension between them is almost palpable.
They try to convince themselves that they don't desire each other, but it's too late. The connection between them is extremely toxic, taken to unthinkable extremes and with striking effects. However, the past gets in the way, and Azrael has to take measures he doesn't want to, but must be taken, even if it puts them at risk...

I really loved this book, especially the dynamic between Azrael and Victoria. Two broken souls, two true psychopaths with a chaotic personality. The way they try to get to each other, the psychological games, it's all described in a beautifully intense way.

I was incredibly impressed by the author's writing, simple amazing, and I loved how the story captivated me from beginning to end (and what an end!!), and the spice, my God, is simply sublime.

I can’t wait for the 2nd book!

ARC Review for LoveNotes PR

Darkest Obsession was far more intense and psychologically twisted than I expected, and I ended up completely hooked. This is the kind of dark romance that pulls you into a disturbing yet fascinating dynamic and refuses to let go. Even when I wasn’t reading, I kept thinking about the characters, replaying scenes, and trying to predict what would happen next.

What made this story especially compelling was the relationship between Victoria and Azrael. Their connection is built on obsession, manipulation, and constant psychological warfare, which makes every interaction feel electric. I loved the mind games between them because neither ever truly felt in control for long. Their banter was sharp, their chemistry was undeniable, and watching two deeply damaged, morally bankrupt people circle each other was both unsettling and impossible to look away from.

One of the strongest aspects of the book was its morally gray characters. No one here is innocent, and that’s what makes the story so engaging. Both characters carry darkness, trauma, and disturbing motivations, yet they still feel layered and strangely human. There were moments when their decisions were frustrating or shocking, but that only made me more invested in where the story was going.

The atmosphere throughout the book is dark, tense, and often deeply unsettling in the best way. The author doesn’t soften the disturbing elements, which gives the emotional and psychological moments real weight. Some scenes genuinely shocked me, and the intensity only continued to build toward the end.

The plot twist near the conclusion completely caught me off guard and made the ending even more memorable. Combined with the intense romance and emotional tension, this is definitely not a story that fades once you finish it. It lingers in your mind long afterward. If you enjoy dark romance with obsessive characters, psychological manipulation, and high emotional intensity, this is absolutely worth reading—but definitely check the trigger warnings beforehand.

Enter the chat of a unhinged of all unhinged dark romance serial killer FMC meets psychopath MMC and ladies and gents; I give you the first installment of the Hells Flame series, Darkest Obsession" featuring Victoria and Azrael releasing June 23rd. I will remind any reader, read the trigger warnings because your mental health is any author and readers priority but for real when the dedication drops my jaw from the start, I know I'm in for a damn good read.

"To all the good girls who want to be worshiped like saints, and fucked like sinners. Same, babe. Same." YASSSSS QUEEN.  When Eva described "Darkest Obsession" as a psychological dark romance featuring a spiraling female hitman and the obsessive professor who attempts to "recode" her psychopathy, leading to an all-consuming, destructive devotion. Who am I to say no? Easy sign up for an ARC and cross fingers and toes... and now I get to read and review before release day so buckle up biiitches, you're in a wild ride.

The obsession between Victoria and Azrael for one antoher is twister, period. Its not normal and its okay to keep reading, don't put the book down because of it.. you will miss alot of character growth and a plot that hands down has so many twists and turns and you will enjoy. I'm a solid 4 star on "Darkest Obsession" because there was evolution of the plot that was left unseen so well see what comes out of the second book of this duet before I finalize this review of this series. I did devour this in less than 24 hours because I'm a dark romance girl and if you enjoy pet names; this one is definitely a crowd pleaser personally because it fits Victoria perfectly. There is also.something about her rituals for after her pew pews that could be expanded more in my opinion only.

If your vibe is..
❤️ psychopat x psychopat
🖤 stalker x stalker
❤️morally grey anti-hero (but really, there is no hero)
🖤 serial people deleter FMC
❤️ one "f*ck it" moment

I always love a stalker x stalker book but this one truly takes the cake!

Victoria is a hired assassin/killer. She lives her every day life just going through the motions but if there's one thing about her, it's her routine and structure. Victoria is someone you would consider obsessive or even a psychopath. She does things that no one is supposed to yet she doesn't feel things like everyone else. If there's anything that she's craving, it's emotions and who better to give it to her than someone similar of her nature.

Azrael works as a professor at a university. 3 years prior he was a secret government doctor conducting human experiments. But not just conducting the experiments, turning them into people/monsters that they weren't to begin with.

One day Victoria stumbles upon Azrael and thus begins her need and obsession with everything there is about him, but she's not the only one. Once she's made her presence known, Azrael is down the same path of obsession and control.

Firstly that ending is criminal!!!! I've never needed a second book more than I have in my life is all I have to say. Victoria and Az are destructive. They would rather die than admit that they need each other to survive. They both live very dangerous lives as well as being involved in dangerous things. The chemistry and tension between them is simply phenomenal. If you love a man who looses control over his emotions and goes batshit crazy over lack of contact, then this is the book for you.

I know the main point of this is obsession but I would have loved for Victoria to take a little bit more of time to get to know Az before she decides she wants to pursue him and obsess over him fully. Other than that I have nothing else that I would change about this book.

If you like the following tropes then this book is for you:
> Stalker x Stalker
> Dark Romance
> Psychopaths
> Hired assassin/killer
> Violence

We're kicking off the summer with a morally grey, dark romance by Eva Morozova. This was my first time reading with the author, but I was pleased to find her writing style engaging, thrilling and oh so darkly. Check your trigger warnings before reading ladies and gems, Darkest Obsession is a dark romance with serial unaliver vibes!

Victoria isn’t your typical lady killer, no she’s an actual assassin, one who feels no emotions and makes no mistakes. She lives her life with a level of control that words simply can’t describe yet. Her life is dangerous, yes, but she has to keep the demons in her head quite one way or another, and this way she gets paid. That is until our main man comes into the picture. Azrael is a professor, but he wasn’t always, he used to be something quite a bit more Victoria’s speed.

Victoria finds Azrael interesting, so much so that she thinks maybe he will help her finally feel something, anything really, she’s been living in a void and who better than someone who stares into said void by choice. Before his current profession, Azrael used to work with a secret government agency as a doctor, conducting experiments on people. When these two meet they are sickly obsessed with one another. She stalks him, he stalks her, she tries to one up him only for it to fail because he is two steps ahead of her plans. Their chemistry is raw, their tension is pliable, they are cuckoo for cocoa puffs, but oddly enough it works for them.

Overall I loved this book. The author has a gift and she uses it to paint a wonderful world of crazy psycho’s who will burn the world for each other. My only non-positive comment….WTF THAT CLIFFHANGER! How rude!! The way I was screaming at the end and wishing more. Azrael and Victoria need the rest of their story!!!

I wasn’t fully aware of what I was getting into when I signed up for this ARC. I was intrigued by the blurb and I am no where near complaining but—WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCKING FUCK WAS THAT ENDING. I AM APPALLED.

The moment I started reading this and realized how crazy and unhinged our main female character Victoria is—I was immediately invested. Not only are her actions unhinged but her internal thoughts as well, and I love an internal monologue. When she’s not “contract unaliving” she’s trying to keep her impulses in check. And what’s a better way to do that than sign a deal with the devil—I mean, Professor Azrael. He studies psychopaths and it just so happens she wants to be studied. Their “meet” is obviously unconventional, due to you know her stalking. But little did she know—he’s not as innocent as he looks. He stalked too. He has his secrets. He has his own demons. He’s just as unhinged and crazy as she is. And who doesn’t love morally pitch black unhinged, deranged, and psychotic main characters. Both obsessive, possessive and refuse to break. And they’re walking blood-red flags. I’m honestly obsessed with them. What does that make me? Normal...of course.

Not only did the plot continue to evolve throughout, the chemistry and chaos between Victoria and Azrael was something else. Like throwing gas onto an already existing fire—unpredictable and terrifying. And when their fire burned—IT RAGED. I don’t know how else to describe it.

I flew through this in less than a day. The way this story developed had so much going on behind the scenes and it’s a mystery in itself. The hold it had on me with the story, the characters, the depth, and that ending—It was possessive in its own way. I have so many questions and now I’m over here just very impatiently waiting for book two.

Immediately from the dedication I KNEW this was going to be dark and twisted. Make sure you check your TW because this does have a few things that may or may not be an issue for some.

“To all the good girls who want to be worshiped like saints, and fucked like sinners. Same, babe. Same.”

This is a psychological dark romance that'll have you checking your sanity🤭With that being said, it was a really good read but I did have a couple of issues. Victoria is a hitwoman who gets privately contracted to eliminate certain people and Azrael is a Professor who used to work for the government running mind experiments on prisoners. Both are morally complex characters with demons that they battle on a daily

What I liked:
5 3' Assassin FMC who takes no shit? Yes please! Victoria was such a psychotic baddie, truthfully I really enjoyed reading about a morally black dominant female who stalks her male interest. Her decision to adopt a kitten and name him Cat had major Audrey Hepburn vibes and I was all for it. The smut was spiiiiicyyyyy🔥I'm talking clutching-my-pearls-my-flabbers-were-gasted spicy. Once I got past Azrael's mind games I definitely saw the intrigue in him. The way he became obsessive and protective over Victoria won me over, especially at the end.

What I didn't like:
There's a scene in there that had me frustrated with Azrael, I dont wanna spoil anything but I did find it difficult to understand how he was able to put Victoria through it. Towards the end, it got too fast paced. The ending was a bit confusing - I had to reread it twice to comprehend that slight turn in events.

Would I still recommend this book? Absolutely! As long as you read the TW's and are okay with them.

Will I be reading the second book? Totally, I need closure as to what happens next after that killer cliff hanger.

Thank you to LunaLiterary and the author for the advance reader copy in exchance for my honest review!

This book completely consumed my attention from the very first chapter, and once I started reading, I found it nearly impossible to put down. The combination of psychological intrigue, obsession, and morally complex characters made for a story that kept me hooked until the very end.

Victoria was such a fascinating FMC to follow. As a highly skilled assassin, she excels at what she does, yet beneath all of that competence is someone struggling with a profound sense of emptiness. Watching her become fixated on Professor Azrael after discovering one of his videos was captivating because it felt like she had finally found someone who understood the parts of herself that no one else could. Her obsession drove much of the story, and I was invested in seeing where it would lead.

One of my favourite aspects of the book was the dynamic between Victoria and Azrael. She spends so much time trying to infiltrate his life and learn everything she can about him, convinced she is always one step ahead. What made it so entertaining was gradually realising that Azrael understood far more than she believed. The tension created by two people who seem to understand each other on such a deep level made every interaction between them compelling.

I also loved the way the story explored themes of identity, control, trust, and what it means to truly feel alive. As Victoria and Azrael's relationship developed, it became clear that they were both searching for something beyond what their ordinary lives could offer. Their journey was intense, emotional, and filled with moments that kept me eager to turn the next page.

Overall, this was an unforgettable read filled with obsession, psychological depth, and characters who refused to leave my mind long after I finished the final chapter. I loved every moment of it and was completely captivated from beginning to end.

Darkest Obsession is a totally unhinged wild ride!

Both MCs are morally black psychopaths with obsessive and possessive behavior.

Victoria is a professional serial deleter and she is one tough lady! I absolutely loved her character and enjoyed her inner monologues. Victoria doesn't really have friends so without the inner thoughts it would be really difficult to get to know her as a character. I love when Victoria set her sights on Azrael she completely decided that was "her man". Victoria has true bad b*tch energy and is really looking to feel something. She is hoping Azrael, a professor who understands the inner workings of psychopaths will be up for the task.

I quickly realized Azrael is not a sheep but a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is even more unhinged than Victoria. Azrael has a long history of studying and breaking people to make the "super" psychopath. He has intentions of doing the same to Victoria until she makes him feel unexpected emotions and becomes just as if not more obsessed with her than she is with him. I don't think we even broke the surface of his character. There is still tons about him and his mind that the reader isn't privy to yet.

The plot had lots of twists I didn't see coming including the last couple chapters. The ending-holy cliffhanger!! The plot was definitely a little slower to start but once it was rolling I couldn't put it down. It wasn't so spicy that it took away from the plot but the spice scenes definitely packed a punch. If you like a story with no heroes that keeps you guessing to the end then I highly recommend checking out Darkest Obsession. I cannot wait for book 2!

Mixed feelings about this one, but mostly good ones.
Just check the trigger warnings first.

Victoria is a hitwoman, unhinged and stubborn, who just wants to feel something again. She's one of the strongest FMCs I've ever read about. She's a serial killer and a stalker, after all. She's looking for the next thrill, the next fix...

Azrael is cocky, manipulative, and convinced he's always in control. He studies psychopaths for a living. Victoria captures his interest, and he thinks he can break her. He hates weakness, but her strength frustrates him even more. The harder he pushes, the more fascinated and obsessed he becomes. For a man who always seems ten steps ahead, Victoria may have finally met her match, and he may have met his.

Their relationship is built on obsession, curiosity, power struggles, and two damaged people circling each other like predators. At times, the lines blur and the stalker becomes the stalked, and vice versa. I loved that. If you forget their main objective while circling each other, their dynamic as a man and woman was actually nice and hot; they sometimes act like normal people "in love"...

Some events confused me, not related to their relationship, but mostly to Victoria's work. I understood what she does, but I didn't fully understand all the assignments. I felt that part moved too fast, especially toward the end. Maybe that will be clarified in book two, and that's one of the reasons I can't wait for it. That cliffhanger left me with far more questions than answers.

The atmosphere was dark and intense, and the twists weren't what I expected. Nothing is quite what it seems. Obsessive characters, psychological dark romance, stalker energy from both sides, and a heroine who is every bit as dangerous as the hero... Recommended!

Darkest Obsession by Eva Morozova is the kind of dark romance that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. From the very first page, I knew I was stepping into something twisted, intense, and completely addictive.

Victoria is unlike any heroine I have read before. She is damaged, dangerous, unapologetically flawed, and yet somehow impossible not to love. Watching her spiral while desperately trying to hold on to the last pieces of control she has left was both fascinating and heartbreaking. She is chaos wrapped in confidence, and I could not get enough of her.

Then there is Azrael. If morally gray men are your thing, prepare yourself. He is intelligent, obsessive, unsettling, and completely captivated by Victoria from the start. Their relationship is dark, toxic, consuming, and absolutely mesmerizing. The chemistry between them practically jumps off the page, and every interaction had me completely hooked.

What I loved most about this book was how unapologetically dark it was. Eva Morozova does not hold back. She fully embraces the psychological aspects of these characters and creates a story that feels disturbing, beautiful, and strangely emotional all at once. The connection between Victoria and Azrael is not healthy, sweet, or conventional, but that is exactly what makes it so compelling.

This book is a deep dive into obsession, madness, devotion, and what happens when two broken souls find someone who understands the darkest parts of them. It is intense, addictive, and impossible to put down.

If you love psychological dark romance, morally gray characters, obsessive relationships, and stories that push boundaries, Darkest Obsession needs to be on your TBR immediately.

Victoria is a restless, psychotic, trained assasin. Victoria knows her behavior and actions are problematic. Victoria finds a college professor that she thinks can fix her, Azrael. Little does Victoria know, Azrael has his own demons. I didn't enjoy the first scene in Azrael's office. I feel there was a better way to get Victoria's attention without degrading another woman, intentionally. I do think it shows what kind of person Azrael is.

I don’t like Azrael and that's not going to change. He is arrogant, conceited, manipulative, and a truly sadistic man! I will admit, I was 99% sure I wouldn't finish this book. That is solely because of Azrael. If ever there has been a irredeemable character, it is Azrael. I can't recall another character so vile. I don’t appreciate Azrael's idea of ownership either. I would like to see Azrael survive through what he did to all his patients, Victoria included. Azrael is just a deeply sick man who lives to rewire people's brains how he sees fit.

There is a point where Victoria turns the tables on Azrael. The readers don't actually know where Victoria is at this point. Azrael falls apart, nonetheless. I'm here for it because it wasn't a fraction of what Azrael deserved. My guess is that Victoria was trained by Azrael's most successful patient ever, subject 738. The only redeemable part of Azrael is the fact he lives to regret his decision with Victoria. The constant inner monologs of these 2 trying to one up each other was distracting and confusing. This book does end on a huge cliffhanger. I don’t know that I'll read the next book just because I struggled to get through this one.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily left this review.

🌟ARC Read🌟

Talk about a debut. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I was immediately sold when I saw psychological romance. Say less. 😏

Victoria is a contract killer and, without question, a psychopath. Then there’s Azrael, a psychology professor who is definitely hiding something. The more you learn about him, the more obvious it becomes that he isn’t exactly normal either. Before becoming a professor three years ago, he conducted secret government experiments until the program was shut down because he was deemed “psychologically incompatible with conducting experiments on humans.” That alone had me hooked.

Victoria can barely experience emotions, but she recognizes a new one when it comes to Azrael: possessiveness. She’s determined to make him force her to feel something… anything. What she doesn’t realize is that Azrael is more than capable of playing her game.

The psychological battle between these two was my favorite part of the book. Watching them constantly try to outmaneuver each other made it impossible to put down. Their agreement for him to “break” her takes their relationship in a direction neither of them expects.

Also, this is most definitely DARK, and Azrael is NOT a good man. If you’re looking for a morally gray hero, keep scrolling because this man is pitch black. 😅

And then the spice hits… holy hell. 🥵🔥 The dominance, the power dynamics, and the tension between them were so well done. Once Azrael finally falls, he falls hard. Watching someone so controlled completely unravel for one person was incredibly satisfying.

That ending though… 😱 What a wild ride. I absolutely need book two immediately because I have to know what happens next!

Darkest Obsession was one of those books that leaves you staring at a wall after finishing because you’re still trying to process everything you just read.

The story follows Victoria, a hitman whose carefully controlled life begins spiraling toward self-destruction, and Azrael, a professor fascinated by psychopathy who agrees to help her “recode” her mind. What starts as an unusual arrangement quickly turns into something much darker, more obsessive, and impossible to look away from.

This book genuinely had me questioning human psychology and wondering how the human brain works. The deeper I got into the story, the more fascinated—and disturbed—I became. It left me with so many thoughts long after I put the book down. Not necessarily in a bad way, but in the kind of way where a story gets under your skin and refuses to leave.

The tension between Victoria and Azrael was incredible. Their chemistry wasn’t built on sweetness but on obsession, curiosity, manipulation, and a desperate need to understand each other. Watching them slowly break down each other’s walls, stalk each other, push boundaries, and unravel layer after layer of who they really were made the story impossible to put down.

What I loved most was how unpredictable everything felt. Every chapter revealed something new, and I never quite knew where the story was going next. At the same time, I found myself wanting so much more of their backstories. I desperately need more information about Victoria and Azrael’s pasts, and honestly, I would happily read books about some of the other characters as well.

And that ending… that cliffhanger was absolutely criminal. Now I have to spend months thinking about what happens next and somehow survive until Book 2 releases in February. 😭
