Benjamin El's life was normal and predictable. However, on his twentieth birthday, while trying to find him a special gift, his parents stumble upon an abandoned infant who is not of their world. The El's have no luck finding the infants family, and so they adopt him into their family. Benjamin is thrilled to have a baby brother, but none of the El's realize just how much their lives are going to change after adopting Deacon. Benjamin and Deacon are inseparable as they grow and mature. It soon becomes obvious that their destinies are intertwined, but the paths they choose to take will lead them on separate journeys that will test the bond of their friendship.
