I was sent an ARC of this book to read. I've been reading this authors books since her very first release and I always enjoy them. I say this with every book, but they truly are the perfect palette cleanser between heavier books. I know what I am going to get when I pick up one of her books. Her books are sweet with a little bit of spice and there's little to no drama. This one follows Audrey a human with type 1 diabetes and Arran a 400-year-old vampire. I knew we would be getting Arran's backstory, but I wasn't expecting what we got. This book definitely pulled at my heartstrings a couple times while reading. I loved how confident Audrey was in her body. The banter and the cuteness between these two was amazing. This is the final book in the Creatures & Cottages series, and I think it was a very fitting end. There's also a little Weiner dog named Anita that's the cutest thing ever and yes that's totally meant to be a pun. I'm sad for this to be coming to an end but I look forward to whatever the author has in store for us next.

These two were super cute together. Arran was a sweetie pie with a dirty both, and Audrey had just as much of one. Their friends with benefits situation worked pretty well for them, especially when it gave them a HEA. I liked how confident Audrey was and how good she was at communicating her needs. Love me a bold woman.

After inadvertently becoming a target, Audrey finds herself needing somewhere quiet to lie low. She heads to Starry Hill, a small town known for welcoming outsiders, and soon finds herself at the castle of Arran, a vampire who has spent centuries keeping the world at a comfortable distance. But Audrey's arrival brings new life to his carefully isolated existence, and the two quickly find themselves drawn together. As Audrey adjusts to the slower pace of small-town life, Arran must decide whether he's ready to let someone past the walls he's built around himself.
This was such a cute romance and a perfect conclusion to the Starry Hill books. There isn't a huge amount of external or internal conflict here, but I didn't mind because the story succeeds at being exactly the kind of cozy, spicy romance it sets out to be. Audrey and Arran have excellent chemistry, and I especially enjoyed Arran's arc as he gradually lets himself want more from life. Audrey is also a refreshing cozy-romance heroine: confident, sexy, and completely unashamed of either. The book has plenty of heat, but enough thoughtfulness and emotional substance to keep it from feeling shallow.
The pacing is excellent, and the shorter length feels just right for the story being told. I also continue to love how this author brings characters from previous books into the story without making their appearances feel forced or allowing them to steal the spotlight. By this point, I've genuinely fallen in love with this little island and its cast of characters. This is the kind of book I'd reach for when I want something cute, spicy, and comforting, but still want enough heart to make the happily-ever-after feel earned. I was very satisfied with this ending and will definitely be following the author into whatever comes next. Many thanks to the author for this ARC. This is my honest review.

It's an easy read, you don't have to read in order, but I think I would have held a special place for a couple of the side characters if I had. My first time reading this author, I think. The book is ok, just rather superficial with little depth. Like eating popcorn, y'know? There is a place for popcorn but it's no substitute for a good hearty meal.
Audrey seems to have sex on the brain, like it's the only thing she thinks about other than work. And since in the book she wasn't allowed to work because she's temporarily in hiding from the mafia, she mostly thinks about sex and her abundance of sex toys (the latter was mentioned many times in the book). She doesn't even have any hobbies, so she's a very one-dimensional character and there is nothing to make her interesting. Like, she's so adamant she doesn't want a relationship but we're not given a good explanation as to why she's so opposed to having one.
The quote above and other things she said made her sound like she distanced herself from people, yet this wasn't true as she was close to her cousin Tilly and other friends in the town of Starry Hill. This made it difficult to understand who Audrey was and what made her tick. She didn't have any backstory (where are her parents? Is her cousin, Tilly, her only family?) and we don't know what happened in her past.
Audrey is very forward and brash, and comes across as a ball-buster. I personally don't like this kind of personality so this made it even harder for me to identify with her as a character. Like, in the prologue she turns up at the front door of his castle and basically invites herself to sleep over. She was so rude and presumptuous that it put me off her immediately. Here is the scene:
She doesn't ask, she just announces that she's staying over. This, to me, is a red flag. She's invading his privacy and doesn't have the consideration to explain the situation -- that she needed a place for the night -- or to request for his help. She just marches in and takes what she wants. You can see she even touched him without consent. Granted that it was not a sexual touch, but patting him on the chest? And they are not exactly friends. She has met him before when she went to Starry Hill to visit her cousin Tilly, but I didn't get the impression that they had much of a connection other than that.
As for Arran, he's the opposite of Audrey, self-effacing and tending to fade into the background. He distances himself from people, but we get his backstory and understand why he does it. As a character, he's more complex and interesting than Audrey. He cares deeply about people and about doing the right thing. I liked Arran a lot.
Did I like them together? In a way yes, because Audrey brings Arran out into the light, so to speak. When she realises how he has always been in the background helping everyone, she wants to give him the recognition and appreciation he deserves. I would say she's good for him, because before he met her, he was quite a recluse. But while I understood why Audrey would fall for him, I didn't understand why he would fall for her; it seemed to me mostly lust on his part. Like, he is fixated on her ruby-red lips -- so much so that he insisted the front door of the castle be painted to match her lipstick 🙄 He did notice that she is a good friend to others and kind and loyal, but... I don't know, I just didn't feel their connection.

What a really fun and entertaining story this was again!! Every time we come back to Starry Hill it feels like visiting your family over the holidays. You may only see them occasionally but it only takes a few hours until you know all the gossip and all the little secrets only locals would know. 🤭 It’s that warm embrace that makes you feel home.
I was so excited when I realized Arran and Audrey would be the last couple and boy what a couple they make! THE TENSION!!! They are opposites but both know exactly how to tease the other. A reserved vampire who enjoys being alone and a bubbly fiery human who challenges him in every way, yesss! That sizzling heat between the two had me kicking my feet and punching my pillow.
I love FMCs who know what they want and are the ones to initiate the wooing. And Arran has to be really special when she is willing to give her toys a break to focus on him, right?!😏
Oh Arran!! When he dropped the "Aren’t you sweet, baby girl?" omg Audrey I felt that too darling… 🥵
I loved those two, their relationship was never boring and the steam ugh🔥 Also Anita aww I love a cutie who melts everyone’s heart!
Seeing Tilly and Audrey banter had me laughing so much, it was great seeing the previous couples.
Starry Hill feels like a family, they are protective over each other but what they want most is that everyone feels welcomed and appreciated!
I will definitely come back to this series and properly meet the other characters, while doing a re-read of the last 2 books!
Oh how I will miss this comforting island and the warmth my heart felt throughout my reading.

This was a cute, cozy, sexy way to finish the Creatures and Cottages series. Not my favorite, that still belongs to book two, but I still had a really good time with it.
I loved Audrey at the beginning, especially how against love and relationships she was, so I was a little surprised by how quickly she gave into everything. I think I just wanted her to fight it a little harder. Especially because we're pairing her with a 400-year-old, relatively reclusive vampire. I expected him to have a little more baggage after four centuries of life. Instead, everything and everyone is almost too perfect. The characters are wonderful, everyone is supportive, the island is basically paradise, and nothing ever gets too messy. I don't necessarily dislike that because it's a huge part of what makes these books so cozy, but I found myself wanting a little more from these two.
I felt the same way about the threat that brought Audrey to the island in the first place. I kept waiting for something to actually happen with it, and then... not really. I know that's not the vibe of this series, but I would've loved even a little payoff instead of it mostly being the reason she needed to stay on the island.
And maybe it's because I read all four books, but by the end I did start feeling like the FMCs were blending together a bit. I liked all of them, including Audrey, but I wish their personalities had felt a little more distinct from one another.
But the smut? Top tier as usual. No complaints there. And honestly, sometimes you just want to read about hot supernatural men, cozy cottages, amazing friends, and a magical little island where everything works out.
Not my favorite of the series, but still a fun, steamy comfort read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

One last time in Starry Hill 🥹
While I’m incredibly sad to say goodbye to Starry Hill and all its beloved residents, I’m so happy with how this series wrapped up. It didn’t feel like a goodbye or an ending, it felt like a nice warm hug of something you can always go back to.
Audrey and Arran. Man do they go so well together! Their chemistry was off the charts and the smut was 🔥🔥🔥
I absolutely love Audrey! She’s so sassy and witty and very open with her libido 😂 can’t blame a girl for knowing what she wants when she wants it! She charges straight into Arran’s solitary life and turns his world upside down. She’s had me cracking up since we first saw her in previous books. I’d love to be friends with her in real life! She better bring Anita over too for some puppy play dates!
Our poor Arran, being a 400 year old vampire can be so lonely. I really felt for him. I can’t blame him for wanting to withdraw from society when you have to say goodbye to so many people you love over and over again. He’s such a sweet and generous man behind the scenes though. I’m thankful that he had Audrey to bring him out of his shell so he can start living life again. and let’s not forget his Scottish accent and kilt? 🤤 I can see why Audrey always needs some “assistance” from him 😉
As always, Elle always makes sure to include previous characters into her books so we can still have them around. It makes me so happy to see all our babies living their best lives and their connections to one another!

Arran may think of himself as a grump, but he is kind and thoughtful with touch of possessiveness that I am here for. I kept thinking about all the creatures, events, and changes that have gone through Arran's long life. No wonder he was lonely and a bit cut off from the creatures in Starry Hill. So many goodbyes.
Audrey too is deeply caring, putting others before herself. Direct and cutting to the truth in a conversation. There is no hiding from her. She spends time connecting with the inhabitants of Starry Hill and discovers a whole life she wants to live.
So what a perfect pair these two would make if they can both get past their shields and defenses they use to protect theirs hearts.

While I am very upset this is the final book for Creatures & Cottages I can honestly say that it was absolutely perfect. Both Audrey and Arran have made appearances throughout the series and seeing them come together and choose forever, I'm still swooning.
I had forgotten about some things and having them brought back to me with this book was a really fun experience. How could I forget Arran's first time using the sunscreen or just how chaotic (and horny) Audrey really is? I don't know, but I'm so glad I was reminded so quickly and then graced with even more amazing, beautiful things about them. She calls him stud, he calls her lass and darling. They both are hooked from day one and do everything they can to place firm boundaries in place and fail spectacularly. Their banter and flirting was so fun and it really showed us who Arran actually is underneath the awkward façade he shows everyone in Starry Hill. Our poor, sweet baby was just tired of saying goodbye, it's not his fault!"Don't fret. Everything in my life is temporary."😭🥺
We get the best update from Bodin and Tilly. We get a couple surprises from Nori and Shinsu. We get the same perfect balance between open book Maisie and closed off Ren. It was so wonderful being back here with the gang and I really hate to say goodbye. There's an amazing set up for what I hope is a new series and the opportunity to see my favorite Starry Hill immortal couple again. I had forgotten about some things and having them brought back to me with this book was a really fun experience. How could I forget Arran's first time using the sunscreen or just how chaotic (and horny) Audrey really is? I don't know, but I'm so glad I was reminded so quickly and then graced with even more amazing, beautiful things about them. She calls him stud, he calls her lass and darling. They both are hooked from day one and do everything they can to place firm boundaries in place and fail spectacularly. Their banter and flirting was so fun and it really showed us who Arran actually is underneath the awkward façade he shows everyone in Starry Hill. Our poor, sweet baby was just tired of saying goodbye, it's not his fault!"Don't fret. Everything in my life is temporary."😭🥺
We get the best update from Bodin and Tilly. We get a couple surprises from Nori and Shinsu. We get the same perfect balance between open book Maisie and closed off Ren. It was so wonderful being back here with the gang and I really hate to say goodbye. This was such a great end to the series! Very much competing for my favorite book in the series as well. I loved Audrey and Arran so much! Immediately I loved Audrey’s confidence and the way she slowly but surely brought Arran back to life. Seeing him come out of his shell, gain his confidence back and find his love for life again was truly a joy to watch. How could we not fall in love with the hunky man who cares for Anita and wants to do whatever it takes to keep Audrey happy and healthy. Their banter, their chemistry right from the start and their give and take during spicy scenes was so well balanced, I loved seeing them together.
Their spice was at a 10 from the very beginning. Audrey pushing Arran to be more rough and in charge, with her challenging him to see what he would do. Arran was so dedicated to her pleasure which I loved as well. However, the best part was seeing Audrey and Arran show up for their community and the community showing up right back. The Vampire’s Darling was such a perfect ending for Starry Hill!
I loved Audrey and Arran’s love so much and I especially loved how as the reader we really saw their relationship build from a situationship to eternity.
I’m so happy we got to see everyone one last time throughout the entire book, it truly felt like one last hug before parting ways.
I loved how unapologetically herself Audrey was, she really marched to her own beat while still having such a massive heart for everyone she meets.
Arran tried so hard to be stoic and maintain a closed off persona but basically immediately folded the second Audrey stepped foot on the island. I loved how through finding love and care with Audrey, Arran was also able to come out of the shadows and participate in the community.
I had the best time in Starry Hill 🩷

Audrey needed somewhere to hide, and what better place than Starry Hill. Since she got nowhere to stay, Arran offered one of his castle room's for her.
What a great book to end a great series.
I have been waiting for Audrey's book ever since I read the first book, so I was waiting for a year or so. And boy, it really didn't disappoint.
Audrey's a spitfire, she's a boss babe and knows what she wants and gets it. The way she's really great character, plus she embodies the diabetes-representation well was a fun surprise imo. Arran, we also see him as this caring founder but anti-social due to his vampire nature, but he was an endearing character where even though he is centuries years old, he still learned a lot from Audrey.
The characters really complement each other well, and I love how they communicate with each other.
I cannot pinpoint what's missing, I guess it's because the first few chapters, the relationship between MCs are a bit physical and insta-lust which I personally don't like. However, the author did a great way to balance it all and the transition from physical to emotional was really endearing to see.
I am gonna miss this series so much, but cannot wait what else Elle's cooking behind-the-scenes.

Unfortunately this is where the story lost a bit of steam for me - pacing- and spice-wise - because the story becomes a sort of extended epilogue for the series. The story goes on to focus on the origin of Starry Hill and how the other couples in the series are doing. And don't get me wrong, I liked the nod to the other stories, but it felt like it took away from Arran and Audrey's story.
In my opinion, this book is not a standalone. While the story makes sense on its own, it loses a lot when you haven't read the previous books in the series.
This book is for you if you want a cozy story about love, healing and community - and want some fangs in there as well.

I can’t believe we’re in the final book of the creatures and cottages series, not going to lie… I’m going to miss this town!
And for the perfect final here we have Arran’ story, the founder of the perfect, cozy little heaven for all the creatures and even humans who are looking for the perfect place to be themselves and starry hills it’s definitely that!
Arran’s character has been a constant in every book, the quiet, stoic character that blends with the background but that has a monumental contribution in every story in a mysterious and unexpected way, so I was so looking forward to read more about him and tbh i enjoyed so much learning about his past and discovering his personality, I mean the true version of himself, unfiltered… who would have thought the grumpy old vampire was so sweet, caring, passionate and lord, even flirty and filthy haha
This couple was unexpected but I think Aubrey is precisely what someone like arran needs to forget about his walls and you know enjoy the sunshine and that’s definitely what she brings… a bright, strong, unapologetic and loving woman!

Leaving Starry Hill was simultaneously heartbreaking and amazing. I can't believe we are at the end!
This story has been a long time coming and one of the one's I most looked forward to.
A type 1 diabetic FMC and vampire MMC. As a type 1 diabetic, I was THRILLED to get some representation in a romance book. And it was done well.
The plot is fast paced, and we get our first experience with a little drama and suspense, with Audrey having to hide out after a precarious situation at work.
But the forced proximity was delicious. Arran really blossomed from the reclusive vampire, to the doting, loving vampire we knew he was all along.
This book also kinda felt like the spiciest! It was HOT, and I was dying MULTIPLE times.
The epilogue made me cry, and again, I can't believe we're saying bye the Starry Hill!
I will forever recommend this series to anyone who wants cozy, hallmark style books, but make them spicy and ADD monsters! Honestly, top tier dynamic.

What a sweet way to finish out the Creatures & Cottages series! There were so many character cameos from previous books and it felt like visiting family. The way this community all comes together is amazing.
I want to be Audrey when I grow up. She's the witty & sassy friend that says what she wants and that will always have your back. I knew from the previous books and teasers that she was going to rock Arran's world. And boy did she! He didn't know what was coming. I think he's happy about how it turned out though. He'd been keeping himself secluded from the community, and I had a big ol' cry when we found out why. Elle writes those sad boys that break out hearts so well.
And I can't forget the VIP of the story...Anita. Cutest wiener out there.

Elle has done it again, 10/10, no notes. I devoured this book in 24 hours. It felt like a massive hug; the warm, cozy vibes with all the found family were beautifully written, and I am obsessed. Plus, this is an Elle Sterling book, so of course the spice was spicing 🌶️ Arran is such a swoon-worthy MMC, and the communication between him and Audrey was just perfection. And there's a badass side character called Josie, which had me giggling and kicking my feet! This is the cherry on top of a fantastic series, and I know that this whole series is going to be in my reread rotation for years to come.

My last visit to Starry Hill and I am emotional about it!! 😭 This small island town has so much charm and many lovable characters. This time we meet Arran and Audrey, as they spend time together in the Vampire's castle, and finding very unexpected company with each other.
Audrey had me laughing from Book 3, and I loved her character so much! Elle does a fantastic job of layering her character, and introducing us to her no frills personality that captures the attention of everyone. That includes the age old vampire Arran, who ends up sharing his world with her after a chance meeting.
There wasn't a moment where I wasn't laughing or grinning at these two. Their relationship was so beautiful to see, and as always the spice was top tier. Throw in a fun summer festival? This book had all of my favorite things in one!
Audrey had me laughing from Book 3, and I loved her character so much! This is my review of The Vampire’s Darling by @ellesterlingauthor. I experienced a little bit of melancholy to return to Starry Hill knowing this is the last book in the series. I’ve grown to love all the characters and stories in this little town, and Audrey and Arran are no exception to that. We got to see more of Arran, Starry Hill’s founder, and it was so sweet and surprisingly spicy in his head. Audrey, as we know, is absolutely badass and will very enthusiastically say and do what she wants. It was so entertaining to see their initial interactions and see how things would progress. They really are made for one another. We also had an adorable puppy sidekick, Anita Weiner, and I could not resist mentioning her cute self at least once here. This was such an emotional but fitting farewell to our friends in Starry Hill!!

This one was cute. I really like Arran as a character and I was looking forward to read his story. I didn't really connect with Audrey as a character, but that's ok; she was still interesting and had his interests at heart. A bit too much s*x on the mind, it was fun but sometimes a bit "too much."
As usual, low stakes, small-town. You can pick this book up even without reading the previous ones, BUT I recommend you do pick the previous ones. First of all, to get an understanding of the characters, and second because it's worth reading.

Two opposites drawn together like magnets by circumstances out of their control. A vampire who's been living in the dark for centuries and a human who's brimming with life, joy and light falling for each other one wink at a time.
Yeeeees!! Audrey and Arran made sure to let the series end on a bang 😏. I'm so happy with how their story developed and the growth both characters go through. I laughed out loud, had tears in my eyes and fell even harder for the fantastic little island that is Starry Hill. And while I'm sad that the series is finished, I sure will be visiting again!!

This series feels so bittersweet. I love every thing about it. The cozy, fuzzy, and spicy feel of it kept me sucked in. From the swoon worthy characters to even the cuddliest little wiener dog, Anita, Starry Hill has been a little escape from reality.
I didn’t think it could be possible to beat Beck and Nori as my favorite couple, but Arran and Audrey take the cake. I am a sucker for a recluse person getting their happily ever after. I mean who doesn’t want to see them fall in love? To find their person?! Ugh Arran definitely found his person in Audrey. They both bring out the best in each other.
I am sad to see Starry Hill go, but I’m so excited to see where Elle takes us next. 🥹♥️

Not only did I enjoy that we finally got a glimpse into that elusive castle we had heard so much about, but we got to take a better look at our reclusive Arran and really get into his head. And of course, get a peek into his history and what has made him the vampire that he is. Audrey as always was a pleasure to have on page. Like Audrey I am a more blunt person, and I struggle with asking for help of any kind, so getting to spend time getting to know her better felt like I was looking into the life of someone familiar, which always makes me invested in the outcome of the story.
Overall I think this book was the perfect way to wrap up the series and it has felt so bitter sweet to watch it go. Also no spoilers ofc but I will just say Elle really does know how to grab ahold of that organ in my chest and rip it out 🤣🩷 (in the best way ofc)

What a way to wrap up the Creature and Cottages series. I really hope we get more glimpses into Starry Hill, maybe with future generations. Elle is out here making me cry with everyone’s sweet stories about Arran, I loved finally learning his backstory and the full history of Starry Hill. And Audrey always cracks me up, and having her play off Maisie and Tilly and the crew, just fantastic, their personalities all go so well together. And Arran and Audrey's chemistry together?? Off the charts. The spice is definitely flowing in this one, and it's delicious.

I'm so sad that this is the end of this series, but oh what a sweet ending! Arran and Audrey were the cherry on top to the sundae that is Starry Hill! It was so nice getting to know more about our reclusive vampire and the human that got him to peel back his layers. The chemistry and the spice between these two was fantastic and the banter was 🤌🏻 Need to find me a kilt-wearing vampire STAT 🏃🏻♀️💨
