Cursed : The Witch of the History Department

Not yet published
Expected 25 Oct 26
Victorya Black — a witch bound by her own coven and forced to live among mortals without her powers. How she ended up as a part of Durham University history department faculty was still a mystery to her..

Micaella Mendez — just a normal woman studying for her master’s degree while working in a weirdly charming bookstore.

When their destinies collided in an unplanned encounter behind a bar on a friday night, they didn’t expect to meet again. Little did they know that fate had other plans. After all, magic was not meant to be hidden, and love was meant to be lived, even if it was considered forbidden.

Thank you to the author for this ARC, all opinions are my own.

Witches, spice, cozy ish plot with just enough angst? After quite a few heavy reads sign me up for a bit of magic.

Vic is a bean you will want to protect from the world—good thing Michaela is on the case!

If you love a good student/teacher (grad school legal age) w/ a bit of 🪄 this one is one to pick up 📕

If you love cozy, atmospheric, witchy stories then I have excellent news for you! This is the first book in the Cursed series, and I’m dying to get my hands on the next one. This novel features two FMCs. Victorya Black is a professor at Durham University, what most people don’t know about her is that she is also a witch who has lost her powers. She’s been trying for years to get them back, but is no closer than she was the day she lost them. One morning after a rather interesting evening at a bar with a stranger, she finds that very stranger in her classroom. Enter Micaela Mendez, a brilliant young woman studying the history of which craft while obtaining her masters degree. The forbidden desire between these to is obviously a bad idea, so they should definitely avoid it.. right? In addition to the reluctant feelings building between these two, they have other problems to solve. A string of murders are happening in the town, and some people are quick to blame a scorned witch who has never been subtle about her opinions. This book has everything - mystery, thrills, found family, sweet familiars, female friendship, and so much more. It’s the perfect witchy read for fall, I loved it so much!

No one yearns like lesbians. Especially those trying to hold back from forbidden relationships. And this one is forbidden like five times over, so you know the tension is 10/10.

Now add magic, a complex hidden society, and a cast of supporting characters that are absolutely incredible. That's what this book is.

I have more questions than answers, but I'm weirdly okay with that for the moment. This is a messy book in an intentional way, not in a neglectful way, if that makes sense. There's just a lot that still gets to be explored later, and until then, I get to sit and theorize.

I genuinely can't sum up my feelings here, but I can't wait to read the sequel!
