Down & Dirty: Rage

Rate this book
Will history repeat itself? Not on his watch…

Ashton Dougherty can’t deny that his road name fits him.
Rage doesn’t know why a restlessness consumes him, but it’s always been there. Hanging over him. Because of this, his patience is short and his temper is long.
He’s the fourth generation in his family to sit at the table as an officer for the Dirty Angels MC. His club has ruled their territory since his great-grandfather founded it back in 1974. As the sergeant at arms, it falls on his shoulders to guarantee everyone is protected and to make sure their legacy continues for future generations.
Only now, new threats have emerged. To his club. To his family.
But he won’t let them destroy everything the generations before him have built and will do whatever’s necessary to defeat them.
Even if it means unleashing his rage.
Especially after they hurt the only woman who can cool the fire raging inside him.

Note: Down & Dirty: Rage is the second book in the Dirty Angels MC: Next Gen series, a spin-off of the original DAMC. It’s highly recommended to read this series in order because of ongoing plot threads. As always, each couple gets their own HEA.

This is the second book in this next gen series and the things in the first one are popping up here. It makes me sad, because I liked the first gen series, but with this next gen, so far, all the guys are assholes. I knew going into this one it would be a make or break book for me and I just can't deal with the assholery. This one just wasn't for me.

It is always a good time with these characters and this club!
Having already fallen in love with the OGs, it's very entertaining to see their children step into the leadership positions of their fathers and grandfathers!

This isn't an easy transition, as they face some daunting challenges - protecting their territory and families from outsiders, and figuring out what they need to do, to ensure the club's future success - and it's going to take everyone's skills, as they prepare for some formidable enemies!

Rage is the embodiment of his club name and he does whatever is needed to make the club safe. Unfortunately for him, the young women (who’ve grown up with him) feel they are just as capable of getting things done, without club permission... yeah, I'm looking at you Bri and Avery!!
Hahaha, IYKYK.

Lyric has always been able to be a calming force for him, but romantically off-limits, until that doesn't work for her anymore. The steamy chemistry between them definitely keeps the pages flipping, and I love how he is All In for her.

There's still all the drama, pulse-pounding situations, dangers and impending problems that began in Zeke's storyline, and the club has their work cut out for them.

I recommend reading the original series and then this one to have the best experience, but this author does a great job tying the OGs in, so you can begin with Zeke if needed.

I am grateful for my ARC, and voluntarily leave my thoughts.

The paperback is up now to purchase, but the Kindle version doesn’t release until August 1…don’t wait! Get this one asap.

Rage is all things I fell in LOVE with DAMC. The Dirty Angels MC started with Zak and I was hooked. Now with the next generation…Zeke was the first to set the stage for the new DAMC. While Zeke was nothing like his father, Rage was the absolute BEST parts of his dad Hawk and his uncle Diesel.

As the Sargent at Arms, Rage used his internal rage to keep the MC and all those he called his safe. However, when the women are threatened, all the governors were removed and Rage set out to avenge them. While his methods may be messy, he finds solace in the hands of one person: Lyric.

Lyric is the daughter of Crow and Jazz…if you read the OG series…you will know that their book was the ‘end of the series’ and full of heartbreak, renewal, and hope. Much like her parents, Lyric bonds with Rage, or as she calls him Ashton, through her tattoos on his skin.

For Rage, Lyric is not only embedded in his skin, but in his every fibre…it just takes him a hot minute to catch up. But when he does, he gives her the ride to rival even Diesel and Jewel’s!!! Enjoy!!!

A sweet little romance between Rage and Lyric

This is book two in the Next Generation series. I enjoyed reading this book and our new couple.

Rage was hilarious in his internal dialogue. He was trying to convince himself he was not enough for Lyric. Good thing that Lyric was raised right as a strong DAMC woman. Lyric has wanted Rage for a long time. She made a plan and went over to his place in the early morning to discuss things. It was so cute.

I do wish that Zeke, Chill, Rage, and the New Gen would ask the OGs for help. It is just lame and dangerous that they don’t use their parents’ expertise to face the new threats. I get you want to do it all now but it is seriously shortsighted not to ask for advice or inquire about ideas. I want Zeke to step up and be a better leader.

This book ended too soon. I was looking forward to dinner with the parents, scenes of Rage and Lyric living together and some couple activities etc. looking forward to the next book. Read On!

Rage is the Sergeant at Arms who handles his position with emotion and force and anyone who goes against those he cares about will feel his wrath. He has tried to deny his feelings for Lyric as he believes that she needs to be protected from everything and everyone and that includes him.

Lyric has had feelings for Rage for a while, and she knows that she affects him in a way that no one else does both emotionally and physically. She has tried to be patient until he realizes that they are meant to be together however she is no longer going to accept the status quo and he has a decision to make.

Rage and Lyric take us on action packed adventure filled with heat that radiates off the pages, surprises that keep you guessing, suspense that keeps you on edge as Rage finally gives in to his feelings for Lyric. The camaraderie between the club is always fun and you know that you always have each other’s backs regardless of the situation.

Oh how I love these MC heroes that Jeanne St James writes. Rage is one of a kind. He is the Sargent at arms for the club so it’s his job to protect everyone and every thing the club owns. That includes some very strong women. One of which is his childhood friend who has always been a constant in his life. She’s also the one he knows he can’t touch.
Lyric is as strong headed as they come except she has her father’s patience. That serves her well in waiting for the right time with Rage. And takes it she does. She takes their friendship to the next level without much resistance from Rage.
I loved this book. Their relationship moves forward quietly but effectively. Rage doesn’t know how it happened but life without Lyric is not something he wants to experience. The danger to the club and to those who belong to it is real and is coming.

All of Jeanne's books are great reading and these Next Gen Books are a satisfying reminder of the Old Guard and a fantastic continuation of our favorite biker family!

Rage's mother didn't like his rider name but the rest of the club agreed it fit him perfectly. He took after his uncle Diesel, the former Sargeant-at-Arms, whom he succeeded as the person in charge of the safety of everybody, including the women with their own motorcycle club! Yet there was one person who could calm his soul-Lyric, 8 years younger, and now manager of the club-owned tattoo shop. And boy,oh boy, he did not have a blank place on his body except around the club colors on his back.

This story had plenty of danger, challenges unending for Ashton (Rage's given name) along with all of Lyric's romantic dreams coming true!

I loved Rage & Lyric!

I loved the original series and I love this second gen series too to no end! This was an amazing story with an exciting, flowing plot that shows how much the danger that started in Zeke’s book regarding the MC is handled by the new generation – this story arc is still going – and Rage, as the SaA is the one responsible for everyone’s safety. Lyric, Crow’s daughter and an amazing tattoo artist, is the only one who calms his storm, just by being near him. She is his complete opposite; calm, innocent and soft, (but not weak). She is perfect for him and I loved seeing him surrender to her pull. I also loved how the entire MC reacted to their relationship. I couldn’t stop reading from start to finish. Now I can’t wait for the next book because Reaper has his work cut out for him! 5 stars!

Rage's (Ash) MC is having trouble with another MC club. His job is to try and keep his MC family safe and if someone is in danger he has a tendency to lose his cool. There is only one person who seems to able to calm him down. But when that person is in the cross-hairs of the rival club he will do everything to keep them out of harms way.

Jeanne has a way with her stories that keep you intrigued. The suspense, danger and romance is always intense. The characters are always interesting and everyone of them add to the story. I love this series and how the original MC members are mentioned. I know who is next in this series and I can't wait for its release.
I received a copy of this book and here is my truthful and voluntary review.

What a ride! Rage is the embodiment of rough around the edges and his road name speaks for itself. The DAMC is in his blood and to separate the man from the club would be unthinkable. As the manager of the MC's strip club and the SOA, he is not looking for an old lady. He has never been interested in anything longer than a night or two, maybe because he was always waiting for the right woman, deep down. The club is going through a lot and Rage takes his duty to keep all the DAMC safe. Unfortunately, most of the women do not see things that way. I loved this couple, they absolutely belong together. Rage may not be flowery and speak his feelings a lot but his actions speak volumes! Another amazing installment of the Dirty Angels!!

This review is very specific to my point of view and doesn’t necessarily apply to general readers. I love Jeanne St. James and I think she’s a wonderful author. I’ve read literally dozens of her books. That might be why this one just doesn’t do anything for me. We’re now on to the second generation of the DAMC series, that on top of numerous other series with related clubs and characters. At this point, this latest book just strikes me as a retread of ground covered in numerous other books. It’s gotten formulaic for me. That said, if you haven’t hit a wall with this sort of book, you may love this one. In any event, go read a Jeanne St. James book that interests you, whether it’s this one or not.

3.5 stars. Much better than the first book, but these guys still feel kinda gross to me. Rage wasn’t an ass like Zeke, but he used women (whores, randoms, hang-around) A LOT. We get an on page example with him and a stripper/whore at the start of the book. Once he falls for Lyric there’s no one else but…he’s the manager of a strip club, lives in an apartment above it and moves Lyric into that apartment after they’re a couple. The apartment is gross and gets cleaned by the strippers and whores. It just seems like a really sad place to live but Lyric and her parents (Crow and Jazz) seem to have no problem with it. Anyway, the club is in danger from rivals (Russians, Chinese, rival MC) but hopefully no more old ladies get taken and brutally assaulted like the OGs.

I love the wit that Jeanne St. James has sprinkled throughout this story. There are so many laugh out loud moments. The club is facing adversity under the helm of the next generation. When those they love are threatened, they will go to whatever extremes to keep everyone safe. This is one of those books that you will not want to put down. I enjoy the moments between the OG’s and the kids – the wisdom that they pass down is priceless. I really enjoyed watching Rage and Lyric come to terms with their relationship. This book has it everything and more – wit, great chemistry, a great ongoing storyline, and characters, both old and new, that you will fall in love with.

This author knows how to write an MC romances and this one fits the mold perfectly. Ash or Rage is the older man who’s always looked out for younger, Lyric., but not in a weird way. She’s a tattoo artist and he’s a big canvas. I don’t love the virgin FMC trope especially when I have to read about the MMC’s extracurricular activities with the MC bunnies. I liked their chemistry and their relationship to the club. No cheating or anything once the two get together. She had to work a bit too hard for him to get on board. A little Diesel-like, if you’re a fan of her earlier series. A perfect beach summer time read.

Rage has one job and that’s keep the MC and it’s women safe. When rivals come after the women’s MC he’s beyond ready to take matters into his own hands, but Lyric is there to try to calm him in a way that no one else can. He can’t hide his feelings any longer, but she’s in danger and need to keep her safe. Lyric has had feelings for Rage for a while and has tried everything to get him to admit they are good together, but how long will she wait for him to come to his senses? Loved the banter between them, the action, suspense and the sexiness that radiates off of them. So excited for the next book in the series.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Opposites attract
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I can't say enough about this book- I absolutely loved it! I'm always a huge fan 0f opposites-attract and Rage and Lyric totally embody that and it's all wrapped in the nostalgia I have for their parents' stories. Tons of action coming from all the club drama. I'm loving the ongoing beef all the guys have with their female counterparts over their riding club, lol. But at the end of the day they're all family and are there for each other 100%. Great writing. Fantastic characters. A storyline that keeps you glued to the end - you can't ask for more than that!

I can't wait for the next one - the crumbs left me hungry!

Ok folks, this series is definitely heating up. Rage may be Hawk’s son but he’s almost Diesel’s clone and I LOVE it! I also love how Lyric is so chill and calm…she has some serious Crow vibes…definitely her daddy’s daughter. These two are amazing together. So much drama, but at the same time, hilarious antics…Avery is a trip…and so much steam…WOW! I also got my Crow fix, since he’s featured quite a lot. Now we just need to bring in my other favorites…Dawg, Diesel, Magnum and Mercy…heaven! Great job Ms. St. James…loving this new generation!

I loved this couple! I liked the 1st book, Zeke, but I loved this one. While this book was not like D and Jewel's book, it did remind me of their story. Lyric had wanted him forever and no one else would do. While Rage, has a lot of his Uncle D's traits, thankfully he was not quite as pig-headed as D. LOL. Rage and Lyric were soulmates. This story had it all...love, romance, family, action, drama, great friendships. Once again, I'm loving Violet and it was so great to see more of Crow. I am so excited for this series and it's also got me rereading the OG's.

Rage is your typical MC brother, but there's a darkness to him that you get to see full on. Lyric can handle him, just fine. A bit of a "oh no" moment for the spa chapter, but then it was a laughing out loud chapter when all the guys can't figure it out. The cast of characters are all loveable and have their own quirks, that I can't wait to see as more chapters are added to this series. Bri is one crazy broad! This is one great series to read. I love this author and what she provides in each story.

Omg! Jeanne has outdone herself with this book! I love this next gen of the Dirty Angels MC! This is the 2nd book and they keep getting better! I loved Rage and Lyric's story! They have had feelings for each other for a while, but Rage knows she off limits. Sometimes you can't fight your feelings and Rage fought his feelings until he couldn't anymore. This book has everything you want, amazing characters, enough mayhem, danger and love that will keep you reading until the last page! I couldn't put it down! I can't wait for book 3 to get here. I can't happen soon enough!

Jeanne St. James - you did it again. I have found my new favorite character. While living up to his road name, Rage finds himself having feelings for the one person who he knows is off limits but he just cannot get her out of his mind. Lyric might be younger and have no experience with men but what they have together just warms your heart and puts a smile on your face. This book has everything you could ask for: fabulous characters and the right amount of mayhem, danger and love.

Oh its so good to be back with the Dirty Angels MC in Shadow Valley again. The butterflies when he calls her baby... sigh 😍. This is the second book of another great Jeanne St James series. I love the OGs and now I'm falling in love with the stories of their children and predecessors. Rage is accurately named! Im so excited to read the rest of the series! I definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read.

Fantastic! I freaking loved this book! Once again the author has knocked it out of the ball park! I have been hooked on the OG series and this one is hooking me too! Rage is tough and has a tendency to speak first and lose his cool. Lyric has a way of calming him. They were perfect for each other! This was an amazing read! Well written, highly recommend!

I have loved every book in the DAMC universe and this next generation with Rage is no exception! Rage is everything you hope for and so much more. The way he protects everyone and what they stand for. I love the way that he really only softens for Lyric and its cute how he takes a bit to catch on to that. I loved this and cant wait for the next one! There is high heat, passion and fierce loyalty, and who doesn't love that.

Always a 5 star💫 author

Once again Jeanne St. James has written a story that will deliver a book that you just can't put down. At first, I did not like Rage, he was a pig. But he really does grow as a character. Lyric has been in love with him for years but he had to work on himself to get her to be his Ol' lady.
There is a dangerous threat that the club must deal with. I cannot say enough that you should read!

I’m so glad that Jeanne St James has decided to write the next generation. They have sure been entertaining and Rage sure is a firecracker. His temperament matches his name and the only one to calm him down is Lyric. They have a very special dynamic. This book gives us everything we need intrigue, sassy women, kickin action, and most importantly Hot sexy times!! Great read!

I really enjoyed this book! It’s the 2nd in the series & they only keep getting better!!! I enjoyed having orginal characters pop in but not take over the book. Lyric is just as I imagined her being, strong but calm. Rage is a lot like his uncle but definitely has a softer side. I give this book 5 stars! I didn’t want to put the story down.

At the core of the Dirty Angels MC is family. Whether you love them or they drive you crazy, blood always stands with blood. And Rage definitely has blood in his eye once he finds out just how far the Twisted Souls will go. But Lyric has a way of calming the beast, even if sometimes his aggression and his forceful nature takes charge.

Rage and Lyric are such extreme opposites but somehow the magnetism between them is electric. Getting to know the next generation characters more in depth, you get to see the reflections of the OG'S, men and women alike. These young men are going to have their hands full with the sisterhood and I for one can't wait for it!
