This is a great story and is great for the Christmas Season, it is out of print but if you would like to read it let me know I have an electronic copy.
In December I was trying to find something about Christmas in my mission journal (France Paris, early 90s) and came across an entry about me translating this short story to give out to friends in France. I had only the vaguest memory of it, so I read it again. I'm more cynical now but the story broke through most of that barrier and it gets 5 stars for nostalgia's sake.
Very short, very simple story. Almost too short, if you ask me. As long as you are only expecting a short bedtime story, this will do nicely, though. It effectively demonstrates the power of simple charity, kept hidden by an unselfish desire to avoid fanfare.
This is my all-time favorite Christmas story. It may have something to do with my father reading it to us every year and I now read it to my children. It's a wonderful example of how an act of Christmas charity done right can change a life.
This book is out of print but I grew up with my mom reading this to us every Christmas season. it is now my favorite book during the holidays. Even though I have heard and read it many times I still have to hold back my tears when I read it. Great lesson taught in this story!
I am a sucker for Christmas and Christmas stories, especially the ones where there is a complete change of heart. This is my ultimate favorite Christmas story. I love it.
