Demon Debacles #5

My Demon Hacker

Rate this book
Demons made great hackers. I'd know, I hired one...

It was supposed to be simple. Steal the money. Get my revenge. Help a few people along the way.

I had a plan. I had a team. I had no room for complications. Xin was a complication.

They were smart, sweet, and way too good at getting under my skin. I didn’t know what they wanted from me—but I knew I couldn’t afford distractions. Not now. Not when I was this close to getting my revenge.

I’d spent years planning, and I refused to fail. Not even for love.

My Demon Hacker is an MM demon romance with low angst, high stakes, and a whole lot of love. It features a Robin Hood hacker who mostly uses their powers for good, a human with a vendetta and no time for romance (or so he thought), a team that’s in it for the money (mostly), and the usual demon shenanigans.

While My Demon Hacker is a complete romance, the Demon Debacles series is best read in order.

Before I get into the review itself, I want to say again how glad I am to be part of Stella's ARC review team. I always end up enjoying reading her work, even when I don't think I will like it as much given the book setting, or the main character's job and focus. What I mean by this is that I am not the biggest fan of hacker type stories, office jobs, or revenge plots. As per usual though, Stella managed to draw me into the story with her relatable, kind, cute and fun characters.

I love the combination of magic and technology that Xin and Gabriel use/rely on to compete their mission. To me, it added a little bit of unpredictability to the book. For instance, there was the erasing of camera footage, and when Xin erases that picture of Kevin in Gabriel's room, and replaces it with a cute one of Grey. Also, without saying too much, the way in which Gabriel got the closure he needed in relation to his brother was touching. It was by far the best part of the entire book to me. I will be eagerly awaiting the next awesome addition to this series.

One thing I love with Stella's books is that I'm going to get a sweet story that's packed full of found family aspects and getting to see past characters make appearances. And those exact things happened in this book too!

Xin is a demon who has been sent to protect the human realm by keeping an eye out for the corrupt souls who escaped. He also is a hacker in his spare time who steals from bad people and gives to those who need it. Basically a Robin hood of sorts, his hacking skills is what put him on Gabriel's radar for his mission, and that's where this story starts!

Gabriel and Xin couldn't be more different from each other but I love how they just fit together. Even when they were strangers and keeping things professional, you could feel the chemistry between them. I thought the aspect of them both working on a case to take down an awful man was great and it was written well and was interesting to read about. I also thought it was really great seeing past characters again and I can't wait to see how this concludes. I mean, what are those corrupt souls up to??

I really enjoyed this one, though to be honest being an avid fan of Stella's books i knew i would! Xin and Gabriel made such a fun pairing, especially with Gabriel being so focused on revenge while Xin kept managing to worm their way into his life. Their chemistry felt natural, and I loved the way the romance developed without taking away from the bigger mission.

The combination of demon magic and hacking made the story really entertaining, and there were plenty of little moments that made me smile. I also really appreciated the more emotional side of Gabriel’s journey, particularly when he finally got the closure he’d been searching for.

A fun, sweet paranormal romance with plenty of action, humour and demon chaos. Absolutely love this series.
I received a free arc and this is my honest review

4.25/5 Another great low-angst story for this series. I enjoyed Xin as the “Robin Hood hacker” using his skills to help the little guys. Gabriel’s story was sad and compelling, and I’m glad he found people to help. And Gray was the sweetest, of course!

I like how the story unfolded with time to figure out what would happen next. (Trying to say that without spoilers, lol.) I was so happy that Gabriel wasn’t alone anymore and that he and Xin could look out for one another. (There were a couple things near the end that made me teary in a good way.) We don’t have too many bad guys left, and I really want to see how everything resolves!

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Gabe recruited Xin for a job but fate has something very special in mind for them.

Xin was an absolute sweetheart. He went above and beyond to help Gabe get justice.

Xin and Gabe were beautiful together and I loved how Xin reassured his mate at every turn.

I cried at the end of this book. The letter for Gabe was so incredibly moving and I really did get very emotional. It was perfectly done.

Amazing book!

Gabriel and Xin

Gabriel works for the guy who sent his brother to prison for something he didn’t do. Gathering every piece of evidence he can find, he’s ready to put his plans in place. Xin is a hacker daemon. He steals from the ultra rich and sends the money to people and places that really need it. He gets hired by Gabriel to help with his plan, finding out he’s his mate is just a bonus!
A wonderful story by Stella Rainbow! Definitely Recommend

Gabriel's revenge took a twist to the demon side. Xin is recruited by Gabriel to do a little hacking. The way Xin behaves and feels for Gabriel means that Xin goes all out to make sure the revenge is meted out. When Gabriel finds out that Xin is a demon his feelings never change from his first impression of Xin which also blossoms into love. I loved seeing Hella again. They make a great couple who need each other in their lives.

Just like the others in this series, this book was very sweet! It had a bit of drama at the beginning with the whole revenge thing- but then it just became wholesome in every way!

It's a good book to pick up when you feel like reading something sweet and easy. I would have loved to see some evolution in the dark souls situation but other than that, I liked it!

I'm veeeery excited for the next book though 🛐
