There is a reason that this story still resonates with so many. So many of us start as Ugly Ducklings and then become beautiful swans inside and outside. The idea of transforming throughout life is compelling and it is possible in so many ways. So times we are aware of the transformation as we work hard to change our ways. At other times, we are oblivious to the change, like the Ugly Duckling, who had no idea that he was transforming until the other swans pointed it out to him. A beautiful story and Marcos and I enjoyed reading it several times.

This book is made for young readers about the typical story of the Ugly Duckling. The young duck wishes he were to become a swan and sure enough when spring came he had changed into a beautiful swan and was never laughed at again.

This story is great for early readers, learning the basics of reading is great and this story is a well known one.

What I really like about this books is the font size. For beginner readers small font can be hard to read. Most of these words are simple and most add on to a word one would already know like duck- duckling.. and so on. This book can also help teach younger kids about bullying.

I would not let a child read this book.

Traditional Lit: A duck thinks that they are very ugly compared to their siblings, however they were a swan the entire time.

I love this story because it is great for young students who are just learning to read. It is about a young duckling who is constantly made fun of for not looking like the other ducklings. He hates his life, and he never feels like he fits in. However, at the end of the story he turns into the most beautiful swan. This story would be perfect for a lesson on self-worth, valuing yourself as a person, love, transformation, both inner and outer beauty, or feelings.

Its an okay version of the story, not too exciting. While it has larger print, the specific word choices and the quantity of words does not fit with the early reader concept. I do like the character listing at the back though.

This was a story of a bird who thought he was just a hideous duckling. It was all about everyone hating him because he was not pretty. Soon enough he went off on his own. After winter he became the most beautiful swan anyone ever saw.
