Interstellar astronaut Helene Kirsch surveyed asteroids for a privately funded research station in an outlying star system. Overworked and underpaid, she flew through the belt until her ship's scanning equipment met a rocky mass with high interference. If her intuition was correct, good things would follow and Hammond could deliver a steady paycheck for once.
An astronaut discovers something living on an asteroid while she is searching for samples. Well written. I liked it, though I'm not a big fan of sci-fi.
