Infinity Upgrade #2

All Systems Go

Cal Bennett runs on one Never stay in one place longer than eleven days.

It's not paranoia—it's math. Ever since he struck Softbiotics, he's been a marked man. Their enforcers don't negotiate. They don't quit. And they're always one jump behind.

His only edge is Byte, a cutting-edge AI in his brain making him faster, sharper, harder to kill… and evolving in ways he doesn't understand.

His latest stop should've been lay low in Riggston, a dead-end colony with no corporate presence and bodies turning up outside the gates. A perfect place to disappear, restock, and move on.

Then his guide is snatched by the Gritters, a brutal gang that strips colonies down to the bone.

Cal should leave. Instead, he goes after her.

Now the Gritters are coming, enforcers are closing in, and something buried beneath Riggston is rewriting everything Cal thought he knew about Byte.

Outgunned and outnumbered, Cal does what he does he changes the odds.

Because you can only run for so long. Eventually… You have to stand and fight.

Still hunted by Tekita Voss, Cal gets into trouble on Conifer
Trying to stay ahead of Tekita Voss and her enforcers, seeking vengeance for the death of her son, Cal and Byte escape to a promising-sounding planet, which turns out to be a desert. They arrive just before a raid by a faction bent on looting the town they are staying in. It’s non-stop violence and more trouble than Cal/Byte can handle, so they call Talon for help. Together, they manage to fight overwhelming odds and survive innumerable threats to their lives. But Cal meets an unkillable monster that is a threat to all humanity. That story is told in the sequel “Expansion Pack (Infinity Upgrade Book 3)” coming in August.

A fun ride

I like the MC or should I say, MCs.
Kid or not, Dash should of been eliminated. She was more dangerous than the gritters. Too many betrayals that cost innocent lives.
Karn is an interestingly dangerous character that was introduced into this series.
Look forward to the next one.

Good Reading

I enjoyed reading this book. It kept my interest from cover to cover. There is a lot of fighting and killing in this series so if that is something that is displeasing to perspective readers, then this series isn’t for you.

Cal Bennett opted to go to Conifer next simply because the name indicated to him that the planet might be a nice green place.
It wasn't.
Instead it was a mostly desolate place where life under a dome is one of bare survival after mining of resources petered out. Two mutually adverse groups, the Riggers and the Grifters, barely survive.
But then, Cal was only going to stay there for eleven days before moving on again, fleeing with the his space ship, the Rapscallion.
Fleeing?
Yes, as he is sought for murder, though he has not killed the guy. Somebody else did. But the bounty on his head is huge.
But Conifer holds a few surprises for Cal. Some very lethal ones.
Can a nanites AI called Byte really help him escape?
Authors JN Chaney and Rachel Aukes crafted a very strange world where independent artificial intelligences can rule the roost in the most unexpected ways and lethal action are a dime a dozen. One's attention cannot be but be riveted page by page as the plot unfolds.
Phew!
Enjoy.

Great Read

Another great book in Infinity Upgrade series! Well written so it’s riveting reading that is exciting and entertaining. Cal Bennett and Byte are trying to lay low to avoid bounty hunters seeking the 12 million price on Cal’s head. But Cal’s good nature and helpfulness gets him pulled into bad positions that could lead to his capture and/or injury or death to those around. The storyline is well written and executed so you will have a hard time putting this series books down!

Insanely intense and enjoyable.

Who would have thought we would be rooting for a stone cold killer. But he has a good heart and solid honor. Cal fights to survive, because he fought to help someone. Now he's running for his life. Hard and sad to believe he's finding pepple worse off than himself. Now he has helped unleash a terrifying monster on the univers. And somehow he has to create a weapon than can kill an alien monster. Bring it on monster. There's another book.

Book Two is a continuation of the struggles and dangers when a corporate conglomerate wants what you've got, doesn't care who gets hurt and wants to dissect you to get that AI. In a universe where corporations control galaxies, have their on enforcers and do whatever they want with impunity. Fortunately the AI has a few barbs and tricks in its programming.

whoa,…

Whatever you think in this book it’s not.
Just as something becomes a pattern the gist changes the direction and the pattern is lost.
Great story and on to the next in the series.
Karn it.

A FUN READ!

This is a really fun read. Very well written with interesting characters. The only thing is that the hero is very emotional at times and makes poor decision but of course it works out anyway.

Fascinating

A rather unusual pairing, man and computer, and another man and man. What a threesome. Makes for a great story, even if bits of it are a bit far fetched. Looking forward to the next volume, as soon as I can. Thanks.

repetitive

Story line not as interesting as the first book. I felt that the narrative became repetitive. Won't be reading the next book.

Not as good as the first book. Book 2 (this one) and book 3 have some simple plots done to death. Series picks up again in book 4 with new content.

All Systems Go

This is probably a very misleading title for such an action filled book. It seems that every where Cal goes there is trouble that almost gets him killed.

This book, like the first one is nothing fancy or groundbreaking. Still enjoyed it though, the audiobook was perfect background noise while driving and doing chores.

This is book 2 of 3. I binge read the whole trilogy. Your normal everyday blue collar worker in a corporate world of haves and have nots gets an unexpected amp implanted in his head which should be impossible and it takes over his life.
Now on the run, he makes some questionable friends and life choices. Each book is a continuation of the story but also has its own self-contained story in each book. This series has humor, drama and a lot of mayhem.
