First off, slow clap for creating a world of chaos that I couldn't wait to get back to! This story has a lot going on and captures human beings in their most vulnerable ways and brings to light what could happen when put in hard situations. This book read like a movie in the mind to the point I was internally screaming at their behavior. There are numerous triggers amoung these pages so don't go into this with a weak stomach or light heart. But I will say it was an amazing ride!

WARNING: This book is 100% splatterpunk with a very light sprinkling of "psychological thriller". It hits just about every CW, including animal death, almost like the author was going down a list of requirements for CW/repulsions. I read it quickly but some of the typos and formatting really pulled me out of the story and one of the typos actually made me guffaw - "bukus" instead of (I assume) beaucoup. It's free on KU and it's not bad, just not good, and you should not expect the qualities of Freida or any of the popular authors in the Psychological Thriller Readers group on Facebook, which is name-dropped.

First off, can we talk about how beautiful the cover of this book is I absolutely love it. It was kind of what drew me in. I had heard some people talking about it and a couple of my Facebook groups but then when I saw the cover instantly added to the TBR OK so the book I don’t know if it’s a psychological thriller like a fMcFadden or Berry, It’s definitely it’s a good book. It’s captivating story the premises unique and we can also say that sometimes family should just be left unfound . The plot was well paced in thought out I wasn’t confused. The characters were definitely morally gray which I am a fan of the Gore or splatter punk I think is the new term that everyone is using was top-notch and I think that’s maybe where this book should be classified either in horror or spider park but definitely Quinn and seven are you a Seinfeld fan by chance cause that brings back memories anyway they had a very interesting dynamic and I appreciated their relationships on the page and the book definitely left me wtfing. I will say on the Kindle version of the book that I read the trigger warning was posted, but I didn’t actually see a list of trigger warnings and I think every trigger I have ever read about every other book was in this book the one ick that I did get was the dog and I know that sometimes books are meant to provoke us to shock us and I think that’s why it was there, but I think Ie blindsided by it so it was uncomfortable for me, still enjoyed the book.

Why is no one talking about this book! This is my first thriller/ horror vibe book and I need more in my life! This book had me in a chock hold the hole damn time! Thank god I had Heather reading this book with me cause I needed to talk about it and nothing better than her to push to read all my crazy books! Thank you Heather.

Anyways….. you have Quinn and her boyfriend seven. Yes his name is seven. He pushes her to try to hide her father which she never has meet. But her mother has passed and she is feeling that void in her life and needs some family after the accident of their daughter. With that said…. This book start out normal. But you can tell that something is just not sitting right. Little things here and there. You just think to yourself. What the heck. And then it start…. She meet her father and he ask her and seven to come on a vacation of a lifetime bonus he is paying. The father is an ass to seven and jabs him with something when ever he can…. But will she pay for it more than she thinks.

I was soooo mad at her the whole time for not listen to seven! But he isn’t an angel too. When I tell you this books is. a crazy ride , that isn’t a joke at all.
I was shocked , and felt with a WTF and really need more by this author.

Great read. Sick, depraved, suspenseful!!
Love how it was told by the 2 Mc perspectives.
Seven and Quinnie.... a couple caught in an unfortunate situation in the search for Quinns family and acceptance.
And well.... Quinn found more than she bargained for.

Really an interesting premise. Had no idea where the story was going and that kept me hooked. I kept guessing. And kept guessing wrong, all the way to the end.

I really woulda loved to hear some backstory on the father. He’s set up in a very interesting position and I wanna know how it came to be. But overall, really enjoyable story. Thanks!

Inhumane

Inhumane is intense .
Family Island get away, and Quinnie is blinded by the feeling of belonging and being wanted , having a family, and all Nix seemed to have to offer .
It turned out to be everything I have come to hope for in a Madison Doyle novel .
Definitely want to give this one a read. Gives a whole out look on messages in bottles . Awesome Five Star

Creepy

Found family, gaslighting, torture, cannibalism. Inhumane was a bloodbath! Stuck on a freaky (in many ways) private island for months with people you hardly know is traumatic enough. Poor Sev just can’t catch a break.

First and foremost, my biggest pet peeve about this book was the lack of actual chapters. I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I didn’t hate it. I’m not sure what that says about me. 🤣

Quinn and her boyfriend Seven are invited to the time of a life summer vacation on Quinn’s biological father’s private island. Things take an odd turn when Seven starts to feel like maybe Quinn’s father and his wife aren’t who they say they are.

The book was packed full of triggers, none of which really bothered me, save some chainsaw use (terrified of chainsaws), but I was already close to the end and pushed through it. I was a little disappointed with the ending, only because I was hoping for some wild, unexpected plot twist, but I didn’t feel like I got one. There were a lot of typos and things that just don’t make sense, but they were easy to overlook because it happens. I’ve gotta say. Quinn has been by far the most annoying and naive character I have ever read in a book. Jesus Christ. That’s okay. While I rather enjoyed this messed up book, I wouldn’t say I’d recommend it to anyone. It definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s also okay. Read at your own risk.

The main characters are very annoying and too unrealistic to be believable. Quinn is incredibly naive and doesn't pick up on anything. She also blatantly refuses to believe the man she knows and loves. Her anxiety disappears just like that.... it's all a little stupid. Seven seems all right, most of the time, but his lack of backbone when Quinn smiles is laughable.

It's a shame, because the story definitely has potential. My annoyance with the characters just overshadowed everything. Little tweaks to how they are portraited could have made this a decent book - even though it was a bit repetitive, and I feel the ending was not in line with the rest of the story.




Also,  that message by the author about not willing to give trigger warnings comes off as very arrogant to me. Maybe it's just me, but I felt laughed at for having triggers.

For people like me: yes it has animal cruelty and animal death.

It was a fun -in between- read for me.

Firstly I have to say - if you have any triggers - proceed with caution!

Read this book in two days - its story kept pulling me in and wondering what happens next because it felt like an over the top horror movie.🩸With every gory detail and a lot of twists and turns I wanted to know what comes next BUT! In the end it was just a LOT crazy shit happening and Quinn was the most naive and wide-eyed character I read in a long time.. 😶
At some point I was so angry with her ignoring each and every warning sign and attempt of Seven.. I’m so sorry for him.. 🙅🏼‍♀️
But all in all - if you like splatter, gore and pure horror movie vibes paired with an island setting - try this one for yourself!

(And as some other review mentioned; I had a few issues with the format but maybe this is just totally personal and will not affect my rating. 🤷🏼‍♀️)

This book was... I don't even know what word to use to describe it, but it was brilliant in a very twisted way.

I will say, and maybe I'm in the minority here, but I really didn't like Quinn. I felt sorry for Seven. She was so desperate to have a family, that it felt like she just basically felt like she was telling Sev to f*ck off most of the time. Like the only reason she didn't want to leave was because she was terrified of being alone. I wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up. She seemed delusional most of the time.

The rest of the book was brilliantly written. Twisted and dark and, well, definitely sick and strange in a lot of places. Madison Doyle deserves a round of applause for this book.

Creepy island vibes + family secrets + slow-burn dread = addicting.

What starts as a reunion quickly turns into something deeply unsettling.

The isolated island setting is eerie and suffocating, with tension building from the start. Quinn’s need for connection makes everything hit harder, while Seven brings that protective, “something’s wrong” energy I loved.

You can feel the danger creeping in long before it fully reveals itself. And when it does? It’s twisted, disturbing, and exactly as inhumane as the title promises.

Dark, twisted, and full of creeping dread—this one keeps you hooked with a constant sense of unease.

my first book from this author and I will say she has unique ideas. I can’t say I loved a single character because even the non villainous ones are just completely naive and unassuming. I just don’t know how you have that many red flags and still be more interested in the other “guests”. This really does have something for everyone and there is definitely some awful events that happen so those triggers she doesn’t list well just know they’re plentiful. this needs to go through one more editing and formatting process because it was a little distracting reading with all the broken spaces and sentence run on.

What a waste

If I could give this 0 stars I would. What a terrible read, and I love pitch black. I was ready to DNF but painstakingly read it until the end.
