Nineties

Rate this book
Jeremy Reed's collection of poems for the Nineties shows his singular talent at its best, reaching out to a new decade. He explores a series of paintings with language that embraces both analysis and sheer celebration of he power, and beauty, of art. His minted visual imagery leads us on journeys into imaginary landscapes. A new maturity is apparent in poems such as 'Always', 'All the President's Men' and 'Love and Death', and especially in the magnificent concluding 'Prayer'. Nineties is vivid proof of David Gascoyne's description of Jeremy Reed as 'the most outstanding poet of his generation'.

DNF, didn’t hate it and some lovely writing but didn’t really grab me like poetry usually does.
