Super cute novella about a romance between a human woman and Lucifer Morningstar’s youngest son.

Tempest’s crappy boyfriend has never invited her to watch one of his hockey games, but he’s too happy to allow her to pay for his gear. She decides to surprise him by showing up rinkside only to find him sucking face with another woman. Incensed, she flees the arena and curses her luck, blacks out as a storms kicks up out of nowhere, then finds herself coming to at the feet of a gorgeous, green eyed son of the devil - in his very own living room!

Levi is captivated by the lovely human who crossed a barrier even he’s been prohibited from breaching, so he disguises her badly in one of his hoodies, and sets off with her to try to find a solution for returning her to her earthbound home. While they gather the necessary equipment to facilitate her journey back, Tempest and Levi discover they are very much compatible in the bedroom. Unfortunately, Levi’s father crushes any hopes they might have of being together on either plane.

Can these star crossed lovers find a way to make things work?

This was really fun, short, and steamy. I was generously furnished an advance reader copy by the author and bookfunnel, and I’m sharing my honest review.

Levi & Tempest

Marked for spoilers as I do complain about a lot of details here, and given this is a novella, that’s poetry much all the non-relationship plot, so fair warning before you read this. In summary, was this a quick and fun read, yes, and for my fellow paranormal fans, worth the read. Just go into it with different expectations than I did, and don’t think too much about the world building 🫣

I wanted to love this, especially when the premise itself is one Im obsessed with (paranormal, sons of the devil, fated mates), but I just couldn’t get into it. I do rate novellas differently as Im conscious that the length means you won’t get the world building or plot of a full length book, but there was something more missing from this one.

With the instalove, it was very much overpowering everything else including rational thought - Tempest immediately looking for a way back to hell, with there being nothing else mentioned about her life, and no thought about what she’s giving up to go back to hell. And that there were details that weren’t followed through on took me out of the story just as much (what happened to the ex, her big girl job, that she was on the phone with her boss when she disappeared and there was no reprecussions of that). I think this needed to be maybe 30 pages longer to flesh these things out, and I mean just a paragraph would do (quitting her job, a phone call to someone, kicking her ex out etc).

There were hints to a deeper background and world than we actually got - whether that be the links to God and how hell came to be, the treaties in place, or the link between the brothers and the deadly sins, or Levi’s mum being human (?), or whatever Lucifer is giving up to allow Tempest to stay. Maybe some of this is hints to followup in the next books, but some of it could have done with being fleshed out here. And just to point out, there are seven deadly sins and this is mentioned in the blurb with each brother embodying a sin, and yet we only meet 4 of them (including Levi) with no mention of the other three, unless I missed it.

Arc review for Levi by Eden Knox

First of all it want to say thank you to the author for letting me read and review her book. I am a growing fan of paranormal romances and this novella is a short and sweet introduction into the world of Hells Hollow but as the case sometimes is with shorter stories, for me there was a lot of world building that just didnt happen.

I dont mind the instant attraction, Fated mates kind of tropes but it felt like this story catapulted us into this without giving us enough anticipation and build up to the relationship of Tempest and Levi. I get that with a nocella this can be difficult but there could have been moments where they nearly kissed and that attraction builds rather than as soon as they can kiss they do. It felt rushed and I was just left feeling like I didnt get how you can go from all to nothing so quickly.

I enjoyed parts of this story and I do like the idea of Hells Hollow and all of Lucifers children being the seven deadly sins. But as far as Tempest and Levis story goes I dont really feel a connection to them.

Tempest just instantly wants to abandon everything for Levi without any thought as to what she is leaving behind. What about the guy who she was seeing from the beginning of the book, the job she didnt get, her potential family. It was as if nothing mattered and I foubd it hard to believe that instantly falling in love with someone within hours of meeting them as realistic without really finding enough about WHY she woukd want to leave all that behind.

Overall its an ok read and Hells Hollow seems an interesting place but I really do think with a few more pages this novella could have explored more context of the characters lives to help a reader buy in to the story that little bit more.

ARC read, thank you to the author and Flying Pig PR for an early copy.

I really wanted to love this novella, but I just… didn’t. I loved the concept of a border land between Earth and Hell and Lucifer’s sons being the seven deadly sins, but it just wasn’t fleshed out enough and left far too many plot points unresolved or just seemingly forgotten (what happened to Tempest’s cheating boyfriend or her job? Why are there seven deadly sins but seemingly only four brothers?!). And considering the fact they’re demons (and the devil?), they all just seem so… human (just with horns and forked tongues).

This novella takes instalove to a whole new level but the connection wasn’t really explored beyond them pining for each other when they were separated, and some very instant attraction.

I finished the book feeling like I didn’t know any more about any of the characters than l did when I first picked it up. Demon hockey? Stolen cookies? Knitting club?! I feel like it tries for fun romp but it’s just too chaotic and disjointed.

There were hints at some wider world building, and I’d like to learn more about Lucifer himself, but all in all it just fell a bit flat for me. A few more pages explaining more about the all-important Accords and Tempest’s apparent powers could have really improved it and made it feel more like a complete story.

I received this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I did not enjoy this at all.

It was all over the place, bouncing from thing to thing without really digging our teeth into the story. It felt like a caffeinated fever dream, but not in a good way. None of it fit together in a way that worked for the story or characters.

There was very little romance beyond a weird insta-lust. The demons didn't even feel like demons, and just regular dudes. Lucifer was pretty much a goofy single dad. It was really weird, and none of the magic made sense either. I don't feel like it was ever really explained how the FMC's magic worked at all and it kept getting glossed over when brought up.

Honestly, half of the plot threads in the story were just abandoned, especially the ones with the special books and hockey. Demon knitting club was the most random thing I've ever read, and didn't make the slightest bit of sense for the characters. It was bizarre.

I won't be continuing this series.

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Tropes: Chance Meeting, Demons/Afterlife, Instalove
Main Characters: Levi Morningstar and Tempest

After the literal worst day, Tempest finds herself transported suddenly into Levi’s living room…in Hells Hollow, where demons and other creatures reside. Humans aren’t meant to be there so Levi has to quickly find a way to get her back to where she belongs. Except…now, he doesn’t really want to.

I like the set up of this series and getting a sneak peek of all the characters is so fun! Also, the set up of the world is very interesting and I can’t wait to hear more about it.

Slight critique- I would suggest running it through an editor one more time as there were quite a few spelling and grammar errors. Also, I fully understand this is a novella, so things progress pretty quick. But I feel like there were things that weren’t completely explained by the end, which left me feeling a little confused.

Levi was definitely an interesting one! I love when an author takes paranormal mythology and gives it a romance twist, and having Lucifer’s sons represent the seven deadly sins is such a fun setup.

Levi’s whole personality made sense once you realize he’s Envy. He’s tired of being the youngest and feeling like everyone else gets to be important while he’s constantly pushed to the side. I’m definitely curious to see where his story goes and what Eden Knox does with the rest of the brothers.

This was a fun paranormal read with a darker edge, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of this world.

Thank you to the author/PR for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Levi
by Eden Knox

Tropes: Hockey, Demon x Human, Fated Mates, Strong FMC, Forced Proximity
Rating: 4 / 5

A demon hockey story, this focused on Tempest, a human character, and Levi, the devil's son. Tempest unexpectedly appears in Levi's room one day. They embark on a journey to return her home. They fall in love during their adventure. He has to defy his father and the laws that separate humans from the supernatural. I really enjoyed reading this story. That was a sweet little story. The characters were all so hilarious. Tempest and Levi's instant connection was adorable.

Monster x Human romance readers will particularly like this.

Insta love monster romance novella between human Tempest, and Demon Levi. I liked the banter between the brothers and Lucifer, but everything happens so fast it's hard to get attached to the characters or appreciate the worldbuilding.
There are mate bond hints and a star crossed lovers vibe, but it's very fast burn and no time for any chemistry so their intense connection doesn't feel genuine. There were quite a few questions left unanswered too about her ex, her arrival in hell, their separation, and why hockey is involved.

If you are looking for a quick and dirty (pun intended) read, look no further than Levi by @edenknoxwrites

In Levi, we are introduced to our main characters Levi and Tempest. We also get introduced to the world that spans over the other books, Hell's Hollow.

Also there's a demonic knitting circle.

You'll have to check out Levi to know more because I can't say much without spoiling it.

Just know that Levi is a good time and he has horns 🥵🥵

Levi is book one in the Hell's Hollow series. I really enjoyed this fast paced novella. It drew me in fast and held my attention. This is the first book I've read from this author and I look forward to reading more. I can't wait to find out more of how Tempest was able to get to Levi, and hopefully get more answers to the questions I have but no spoilers! You have to read to find out!

Thanks to @flyingpigpr for the E-ARC!

Quick and sweet, this book is a simple story of paranormal insta love. The plot isn't too complicated, the worldbuilding is quite elaborate for a novella, and the characters are cute and likeable. Sadly, some plot points were not followed upon, and not everything was explained very well, but overall I enjoyed the novella.

Thank you to the author for the eARC of this book.

Thank you to Eden for the arc opportunity!

This was a very quick, fun read about a girl who has had just about the worst day possible and suddenly falls into the hands of one of Lucifer's sons.

For being as short as it is, the author did a pretty good job in telling a full story that was fun, intriguing, and not too fast or too slow. Definitely a good little read!

This was an amazing story! I’m looking forward to reading the whole series! I love the fact that the author Eden was able to write a steamy book between human and Lucifer’s youngest son!. Levi and his attraction to Tempest is 🫣. If you want humor, steamy, and romance all in one, then get this, sit down with a drink and read. You won’t want to stop until you finish! The banter between the characters reminds you of a show that is currently out with the 7 sins and I love it!!

Listen - is this more a demon romance than hockey? Yes. Is there more dealing with the Devil than on-page gameplay? Yes. HOWEVER.

From the short amount of time we get with Levi and Tempest, their characters come through so well. Tempest is amazing - she’s headstrong and determined and ready to go toe to toe with Lucifer. Levi, for all his being a demon, is actually incredibly sweet and clearly loves deeply.

Levi is short and smutty and a general fun romp through a universe in which a human is the fated mate of a son of Lucifer. Did I mention smutty? There’s forked tongues, horns as handlebars, and a library hookup. Check, please!

The humor is top-tier! This novella is perfect for a mood if you want to read a low-stakes romance without any action. The brothers are hilarious as well. I look forward to the future books for the other brothers.

This is a fun and spicy read. It is an instalove book, so the story generally focuses on what happens after. It is enjoyable and I love the idea about these stories being based on Lucifer’s offspring.
This is a novella that hints of a wider world, which I hope will be introduced in later books.
