Understand how the Holy Spirit works through spiritual gifts.

Many people have questions about how the Holy Spirit can work in their lives. Part of the Foundation on the Holy Spirit series, this book explains spiritual gifts as a foundational element of the belief system of the Spirit-filled community. It provides biblical background and support for the experience and explains why the work of the Holy Spirit is relevant and active in the body of Christ in this current age, as it has been since the Day of Pentecost. Readers will learn…

What does it mean to have a gift of the Spirit ? What does the Bible say about it? How can I experience it for myself?

The Holy Spirit that filled Jesus, empowered His ministry, raised Him from the dead, birthed the church on the Day of Pentecost, and performed miracles in the early church is the same Holy Spirit that equips believers today through the gifts of the Spirit. This book takes a closer look at the gifts of the Spirit and their need and purpose in the lives of believers today.

A helpful introductory to spiritual gifts from a Spirit-filled Baptist pastor. Phillips includes several biblical texts to support his main points and he delves into some of the history of resistance to spiritual gifts in the evangelical church by offering examples of how the Holy Spirit moved throughout history.

The writing is highly accessible and pastoral. Definitions of gifts and how to encourage their operation are very succinct, providing the reader with a minimum framework from which to begin studying this important aspect of the spiritual life.
