Colony Sunlight has been destroyed, ravaged by a ruthlessly aggressive galactic weed known only as the Krynoid. As the planet turns cold, sinister forces descend on the surface, and time runs out for the scattered survivors. Could salvation lie a hundred years ago - with a Doctor, a MedTech and a big blue box?
Episode 2.1 The Hunt by Jonathan S Powell Blackmailed by the unscrupulous Raynor Cross, Sunlight survivors Tiro Hart and Letty Hodan must battle the icy remains of the life they left behind. But they are not the only ones with their sights set on a pod.
Episode 2.2 The Harrow by Georgia Cook Nobody knows what really happened to Station One, Verdana’s first, doomed colony. But after materialising in the path of a Krynoid, the Doctor and Liv are about to find out.
Episode 2.3 The Harvest by Jonathan Morris When a band of survivors reach a mysterious settlement, they are promised food, shelter and harmony. But deliverance in Greenhaven comes at a price - and Father Nature is ready to collect.
Act 2.1 The Hunt - The one felt very much like the humor of Colin Baker years. Didn’t really work for me. (2/5)
Act 2.2 The Harrow - Better. This one tied into The (Eighth) Doctor story from the previous set in a very timey whimey way. Great way. (3/5)
Act 2.3 The Harvest - This one has a lot of nods and pays homage to The Wicker Man. Very dark. Deliciously dark. (4/5)
Each of the episodes also has a bonus download with behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew. Overall, this is a nice solid continuation of the previous volume: Planet Krynoid: Nightfall.
Not as strong as the first boxset but still an enjoyable tale of the survivors and a prequal to how the 8th Doctor ended up where he did in the first boxset.
You've a mix of citizens trying to survive and corporations not caring about the survivors and only wanting to find ways to utilise the Krynoids. Sort of thing you'd expect from our world governments to be honest.
Last story of the boxset is easily the strongest and most horrific.
If you enjoyed the first boxset, you'll enjoy this one as it continues the story. Looking forward to where it will go next.
