Anna has two masters, one she hardly knows, but who makes her feel safe, the other she's known all her life and says he needs her.
Alex wants her to be free.
Devin demands her obedience.
As Anna takes her first steps into the world, into love, into friendship, she wonders if she will ever understand either of them.

There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story.

***NOTE***
This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the second of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

***WARNING***
This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after... at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

Part two of the series continues in the same graphic and disturbing style of book 1. Little by little, I feel like I'm starting to understand this whole misogynistic paranormal subculture of Elders and Immortals. Much still needs to be explained, but I feel like it's getting there.

Reading this story is like seeing a bad car accident. Part of you doesn't want to look because you know what you see will be disturbing and haunt you. The other part of you is morbidly fascinated and desperately wants to sneak a glimpse of the gruesome scene to satiate your curiosity. I definitely have issues with some of the content. Conflicted, is putting it mildly. However, I think it's safe to say that if this content doesn't disturb you on some level, you probably need to get your head checked.

As this story continues, I keep hoping that Alex is going to get it together and save the day. With each page turned, I give up hope that poor Anna will ever encounter a man that won't abuse her. At this point, I'm just happy when she is lucky enough to be raped by a man that isn't particularly violent. How sick is that?

Even the "nice" guys she's encountered have been more than happy to pass her around and take advantage of her. Having a "hero" that does next to nothing to intervene on her behalf is hard for me to adjust to. As a fan of possessive alphas, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around Alex's apparent impotence. I'm not sure if I'll be able to hang in there for four more books while he tries to get it together.

If you're looking for a dark, disturbing storyline with sadism, rape and sexual slavery, look no further. This book has all your bases covered. However, if your tastes are a bit tamer, heed the author's warning and steer clear of this book, because that is what you'll get!

I am not sure what to say about this...

I thought there would be a substance matter, some point to all the horrid vile fuckery going on through the every of the 500 pages BUT I don't see it.

The most horrid fact which shocked the hell out of me, is that I have NO simpathy or empathy for the victim/the heroine Anna - she's so fucked up/messed-up in the head, controlled by that gnom of a pierced fuck Devin,

that she actually likes the fuckery for the 50% of the time, cause hey, she's trained for it!

YAAAAY!

BUT I get it, really...maybe it was not supposed to look like it does BUT i get her mindset (which is like seriously fucked up)

what I don't get is the waste of pages in NOT fucking showing any progress to the actual story - a ploy dick Devin wants to pull through with this fuckery, ok, we see a hint, though, but that not enough for me to jusify this - she fucks, they fuck her, they all fuck her all the fucking time!

oh yeah, sorry, she dances ballet, in the meantime!

Let me get back to the real events again - they abuse her, they mend her, then they fuck her, again and again, and again and again...through out the 500 pages...of fuckery, abuse, kinky, dubius, vile, horror of fuckery!

the heroine is just a cock and semen depository junk yard for every fucking assholery cock available.

well, if I saw any point to that I just might have continued with the series...BUT I really don't think I wanna read more of a degrading fuckery through 500 pages or more in the next installements...

I thought this would be a dark book with essence, and inspite of all the WARNINGS author makes in the beginning of the book, it's just a horrid fuckery shocker!

BUT you can't stay shocked after the first shock passes, it gets bored...

too bad, actually, it could have been an awesome dark read...

The moment when you complete an amazing novel, you know, one that leaves you with this huge book hangover, and drives you to insanity causing nail-biting anticipation, and that feeling of NEEDING to finish this series? It's when you know you've found another favorite author and a masterpiece of a book.

This installment of Life With Anna is all-consuming, demanding your full attention from start to finish. Compelling characters thrown in with an irresistible plot deems this story the perfect mix of kink , magic, suspense and gut wrenching emotions. It's definitely not for the squeamish, delicate, or for the weak. Each character took me to extremes: either I love them, like Alex, Ian and Anna. Or you detest them: like Devin. I can't make up my mind whether I want to see Devin dead or suffering as Anna did. The sex scenes are disturbing, extremely dark, and just brilliant. There's no excuses for the darkness of it. No sugar coating it. Things just happen they way the do and the story moves on. Not to mention there's passion so fierce in Anna it burns. A unique and complex journey crafted by pure brilliance. A story so raw, gritty, dark, kinky, devastating and heart-breaking you feel it in your soul.

I truly believe this series is a masterpiece in the author's career. This is possibly one of the most addictive series I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

4.5 Brutally Addictive Stars!

This by far is darkest book I've ever read. This is saying a lot. This author managed to knock all other dark book off their TWISTED pedestal. She may have even traumatized me. I think my kindle said it would take me 10 hours to read this book. I didn't stop reading until I finished. You know that feeling you get when you finish a book, you look around, everything is fuzzy, like you left your world and completely immersed in another? I'm still there. I'm on a dark twisted book high.

"This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book."

Read the warning. Take the warning serious. Then read it again.
You know sometimes when you read warning in the front pages of a so called "dark book," just to roll your eyes and laugh? This is not one of those times. This story holds no boundaries. Just be prepared.

"Anna’s story is told in five, novel-length books. There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story."

OK, did you read the WARNING? Alright, let's continue. This review probably won't make any sense to you if you haven't read the first book.

Anna has two masters. Devin, the man that has controlled her life since birth. Alex, who is connected to her on a deeper level, one I can't talk about without giving away spoilers. Since the death of her parents, Anna has been trained to become the submissive Mistress-Elder to Devin. Just when Devin thinks he will finally have full control over Anna in all ways, Alex steps in to save Anna, delaying Devin's plans. There are rules within "The Brotherhood," preventing Alex from destroying Devin and giving Anna the life she should have. But Devin aka evil Bastard doesn't play by the rules.

There are some things within the story that will bother you. The author had to stay true to the characters, and with that being said, I had to put away some of biggest pet peeves when it came to Anna. She's different, special, in other books I complain about the "golden vagina," I wanted it to bother me, and I guess it did a bit, but this was what Anna was. Every man will lust after her because she was born that way. Anyway, I had to let it go and focus on the story. Anna is completely brutalized in every way possible, yet she maintains her submission and naivety. Just when you think she might get some peace and happiness, it's ripped away, leaving you torn to pieces. I kept thinking, how much more can one girl go through? There's 5 books total in this series, I wondering if I can make it through, but I already know the answer, I couldn't stop if I tried. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book. Can Alex save Anna from the wrath of Devin? Will Anna finally learn the truth behind the devil's eyes and seek revenge for a life of pain and pure terror? I sure as fuck hope so.

Please read the warnings. This book is for the darkest of readers, I would hate for you to read and rate it based on the disturbing scenes. Don't go into the dungeon unless you can handle the whips.

40% DNF - I love dark erotica but this one just hit on a hard limit for me. It crossed from being dark to making me feel sick.

Contains disturbing scenes, scenes that might make you throw up or cry.
** Devin to his wife… Yep right there, I almost threw up.

While the author didn't go into detail she didn't need to, I got the picture, a truly unpleasant one at that. This guy is not only a villain, he is truly vile in the sickest way possible.

If non-con involving young girls is a trigger for you, I strongly suggest you side step this story.

However if you are fine with that kind of thing then by all means grab at copy. The writing is good and there is an intriguing story among all the depravity.

I’m not going to rate this book as it’s a DNF for me.

PLEASE, PLEASE, please read the full disclaimer, under the synopsis before reading this book!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Sorry Marissa, I couldn't do it.

Whoa, this book... it leaves me speechless at times.

The life of Anna is definitely difficult to accept and register in my mind. But after her parents death, she began a new life which left her no independence. She lost her freedom and was homebound most of the time, becoming the Guardian of Jack (who I hate) and then being turned over to Devin whom I thought loved her, and then she became his slave. His control of her is sickening and I really want him to die!

Alex....I am hoping he really is her savoir. If he hadn't gotten involved with Devin's ritual, which allowed him to become Anna's Master, he would have been unable to protect her. By Alex getting involved, he is able to get Anna into her own apartment, and return to dancing. Sex is what bonds her to both men at the ritual. Alex appears to have her best interest at heart and wants her to have a normal life, including dating. The fact he had to go away for months to learn how to protect her and stop Devin is killing me! There is a very strong connection between Anna and Alex! Sex is a huge part of Anna's life. It is used for manipulation, punishment, mind games and yes, pleasure too. One thing that is bad, Anna feels both Devin and Alex's pain, so Alex can't simply kill Devin and be rid of him for good. This sucks!

The complexity of how Anna's brain works is a complete mindf%&k! Her willingness to be with so many different guys obviously stems from her "training" and Devin's control of her. But she was also taught and knows how to seduce men, and this is one way Devin uses her. My heart breaks for her. She gets to experience love (I think) with Aaron and Nate..... and even has a strong connection with Seth and Tommy.

This was a long book, and I need to know now how this will all turn out for Anna and Alex.

When I read Marissa Honeycutt's warning for this book, I thought, "how bad could it be?" Well, many parts are quite disturbing, but somehow it all works with this one. It's like going by a horrible traffic accident and you can't help but look because of the curiosity and intrigue. So many taboo subjects...... It's like nothing I've ever read!

Book two picks up straight on from book one and does not disappoint at all. Hooked from the start to finish.
So Anna has two Masters now. One nice and one evil. Unfortunately the nice one Alex wants Anna to fall in love with him for him and not as her master. Devin he just wants to use Anna to get to a higher status.
Anna feels betrayed by Alex when she finds out she is an elder mistress and half immortal.
Poor Anna I know she has been bought up as a sex slave and knows no different but to serve men, but I loved her and really hope she gets some happiness in her life and learns to use her powers against the evil monster Devin. She deserves some happiness for all the shit that's been thrown at her.
Devin now he is a piece of work I hate him for the way he abuses and punishes Anna, he really gets my blood pumping.
When Alex made love to Anna for the first and only time boy was that hot and erotic. Alex hurry up and find out how to get to Devin and get back to the one you love before she falls for another.
Lots and lots of other great characters involved in the story and hope we get some more from them in the future books
A really great dark erotic series with a hint of paranormal.

Same advice with the first book: When reading this book, let's be open-minded and not talk about moral, shall we?

Anna is slave. Devin is the devil himself. You'll never know the length of his depravity. He makes sure to make Anna lives on the path he created. Oh hell, I don't know what to put into words. Just...don't read this book if you're not comfortable with Master/slave relationship. This book is so dark to me. I questioned my sanity when was reading this. heck, I still do!

***NOTE***
this is not a stand-alone novel. This is the second of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

Entwined - The Life of Anna – Part 2- by Marissa Honeycutt

This is the continuing story of Anna Perkins, a sex slave. She has been trained since the age of twelve to be the ultimate seductress. To be used by Devin Anderson in order for him to gain power over the people he wants to control in the world. The characters in this series live in a world that we are certainly not used to. Devin is a powerful man attempting take over, scheming to gain control of the Brotherhood. Our Anna is at the center of it all. Alex is a confident assassin for the Brotherhood. He doesn’t want to control Anna he wants to love her and cherish her, his “Schatzi” (Treasure). Anna’s life since her parent’s death has been anything but ideal. At twenty years old she has never had the normal life of a young woman. Never dated like regular girls, never has she known love or true friendship. In this installment secrets of what Anna is and her abilities are exposed. Things about her past and her parents are revealed. Once again heed the warnings if they intrigue you as they did me then go get this series, you won’t regret it. If they make you afraid, then this book is not for you. The author promises a happy ending, but it’s a complicated and rough road for Anna to get there. This is a dark erotic romance series that will take you places you never thought you wanted to go.

Book two picks up exactly where book one left off. Beginning with Alex’s point of view, we get inside his head and find out what he’s thinking. Alex interferes with Devin’s plans to control Anna’s mind. In doing this Alex and Devin both become her masters. Things really begin to get difficult for all parties. Alex and Devin both have different ideas of how they want Anna to live. Alex decides that Anna needs to experience some freedom, he gets her an apartment and negotiates with Devin to allow Anna to dance more. She begins to make more friends and experience a normal life. Yet she is still expected to for fill her duties to Devin. Which means having sex with any man that Devin sends to her or brings her to. Which usually ends up with Anna being abused and hurt. Anna is a sweet naïve girl who has been conditioned to think she is just a slave and deserves nothing more than what the men in her life give her. Even when she thinks she can find happiness, it is ripped away from her. Yet she still preservers, showing an inner strength I am not sure she realizes she has. Entwined throughout this installment are some new characters, some we love and some we hate.

I felt the emotions that Alex carries of distress and feelings of failing to protect Anna. They just tugged at my heart. Getting to know Alex was one of my favorite parts of this book. We only got a distant glimpse of Alex in book one. In this book we really got to sense his emotions, his love for a girl he barely knows but feels a deep connection to. His fear of failing her at every turn.

"A man appears in the darkness of her mind. She reaches toward him. It is the man in pain. He kneels on the floor by a bed. Too many times I have failed, he cries to himself. No, you have not failed. You cannot have failed. I am still here. Do not give up. I need you...."

This story is so well written and well thought out it is like no other book I have ever read. It is truly a battle of good versus evil. Devin once again does despicable things that will make you cringe and scream. There are so many revelations and twists and turns in this book, but the author manages to keep it all together. Taking us along on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, fear, love, and self-loathing. Once again I held my breath, wondering where all this will end up for Anna.

Devin is pure evil. He punishes Anna numerous times for small infractions to show his power over her. He uses unfair tactics to try and get Alex to give up his fight for Anna, he drugs Alex twice and makes him do horrific things. This book is darker than the first and I am told each book gets darker and then darker still.
I really loved how the author had me feeling like I was reading a conventional romance one minute and then a dark and twisted romance the next. When Anna is with the different men in her life we experience the feelings that she goes through. With Devin she always seems to be just following his lead mindlessly, playing into his plans but believing she loves him. With Alex she is afraid and then confused by his kindness one minute and hurt by his distance the next. She doesn’t understand what he wants from her. Alex wants her to truly want him and not feel obligated so he keeps refusing her sexual advances. Which devastates Anna she doesn’t comprehend why he wanted to be her Master if he won’t let her please him. Anna’s only way of expressing herself is through sex so when Alex denies her that it pushes him further away from her. When Alex finally realizes Anna wants him completely and they have sex for the first time, this was one favorite parts hands down the best love scene I have ever read. Never has a foot massage been so sexually charged.

"Schatzi..." he whispered in a voice that went straight to her heart. This was more than just physical touch. He took her, consumed her, made her his own. And she wasn't afraid."

I am in love with the Life of Anna and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this fascinating series. If you love dark erotica or haven’t tried it yet and would like to give it a shot this is the one to try, so worth the read.

I am in love with The Life of Anna! Marissa Honeycutt takes the genre of dark erotica and blackens it even farther... black, dark, hard, hot and unforgiving like coal! Though as you read through the evil that weaves throughout this story you find bright flashes of light, Anna's angelic naivte, her deep belief in passion and her need to see the deep good in those that hurt and manipulate her. Anna is an Elder-Mistress, so well trained and brainwashed as a sex slave that sex is a need not a want. You will fall in love with Anna and be brutalized right along with her. You WILL live her pain, you WILL want to kill those that cause her pain! You will be torn as to who you feel compassion for and who you will want torn from limb to limb! These are the deep emotions that you will feel while reading every word of Entwined!! Marissa Honecutt will torture you and you will love every bit of it. The writing is raw and unforgiving and will take you to places we hope do not exist. There is another world wrapped into the living world, a world of magic and demons. This is a must read for those of you who like to crawl up in a corner and delve into a world of the forbidden!!! I was lucky enough to review an advanced copy of Entwined for an honest review! AMAZING!

Holy sh*t!!! That's pretty much all I can say right now. I just finished Entwined and I honestly don't know how I feel. Did I just say that in my review for Enslaved? I might have, but I can't remember because I am too traumatized from this book right now at this very second. Don't get me wrong - I loved it and thought that the writing was impeccable, but sometimes the content was just too much for me to handle (or compartmentalize). Obviously, I did handle it as I finished the book and am already starting #3, but that is beside the point, right? This story line seriously has me twisted in knots and my heart in a vise. I don't think that I have ever felt such an emotional connection to a heroine and that is all on the author and her amazing writing. Bravo to you, Marissa. You have hooked me and I will keep coming back for more even though it pains me so. The story between Anna and Devin and Alex (and ALL of the other boys) just had me reeling. I am still holding out for a HEA and I think that we will eventually get "one," but perhaps not the HEA that we all think of. Whatever it is, I will read until the end because I am that much of a romantic and that completely hopeful that there will be love at the end of such a horrific, terrifying and tragic story.

I may not "like" the story that you are telling, but I respect the hell out of you that you are willing to tell it and putting it out there - not too many would be and you should be applauded for it.

If you didn't get this from the review, I will be finishing this series and then reading anything that Marissa Honeycutt puts out because it is just.that.good.

Great continuation to the series. This series is incredibly dark, and contains graphic sexual situations, while still offering a fresh, thought provoking plot. Anna is continuing to grow into her new life, and is trying to understand her role in the lives of both of her masters. Alex is still the good one and Devin is still quite the opposite. As crazy as it sounds I feel like there is more to Devin than that and I am looking forward to his story unfolding as much as the rest of the characters. Excellent writing Marissa, and I cannot wait for the rest of the series.

This series takes you through an emotional wringer. That is not a bad thing! The darkness is very, very dark but the happiness (which is there) is almost blinding. You are gripped by the characters and almost feel their pain as this book is so well written.
Leave yourself some free time for this as once you start you won't want to stop - and a stiff drink to calm your nerves afterwards!!!!

*I received a free copy to read & review for Wicked Reads*
WOW.
Dark doesn't even describe this series...soul crushing, sadistic, BLACKNESS doesn't even begin to cover the depravity that Anna is living.
And I love every single minute of it!
Entwined picks up directly where Enslaved left off. Anna survived the ritual, and wakes next to Alex (aww). Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of her new life. Or should I say, her "new" new life.
Devin has claimed Anna as his Elder-Mistress, but I had no idea what that really meant. I have NO questions now. He is the most evil, vile man I've ever read and I believe he will be haunting my nightmares.
Thankfully, Alex has also found a way into her "being" and shines a beacon of hope into her life. Alex has gifted Anna a "normal" life (well, at least the facade). Through him, she's able to reconnect with friends and more importantly - dance again!
Many of the dub-con scenes made me squirm (not an easy task), Anna's "place" in the Brotherhood is now crystal clear, and the violence has no end.
But now I understand what the Brotherhood really is, what it's purpose is in the world, and what Devin is trying to achieve.
The terror has no bounds in this series, and luckily there is hope now and then...but what will Anna have to endure? Will there ever be an end to the horror?
Can Devin be stopped? This is the ultimate question that I've asked myself throughout this book. I'm holding on to hope that the more we dig into the events of Anna's life - someone or something will "give".
Please, please Ms.Honeycutt - PLEASE give us book #3!!

My thoughts on the main characters

Anna: I currently have a love/hate relationship with this chick. Why do I love her? How can I not appreciate her sweetness despite the darkness she has had to endure? She falls in love easily (also a flaw) but this is a direct product of the cold upbringing wrought by Jack and Devin. Why do I hate her? Oh let me count the ways... She's an idiot. I'm sorry but that's my opinion. For years she has been brutalized, raped and brainwashed. I get it. I don't really get it but I get it. She seems to have Stockholm Syndrome or something because every time Devin brutalizes her or allows her to be brutalized, she's worried about upsetting him. Or wants to smile at him and tell him she's okay. B*TCH YOU ARE NOT OKAY!! Stop freaking trying to appease a freaking psychopath. Just stay quiet, use monotones if need be, and keep your freaking head down. But she's too meek. All these years later she finds out she is half immortal annnnnnnnnd... it means nothing. Where is her inner strength? Her fight? Her plans for escape? Why is Alex the only one worried???? Oh Anna, just keep smiling as you get punched, fisted, tortured, raped and sodomized. That's gonna make it all better.

Devin: oh my gosh I'm not sure but I think he's the craziest mofo I have come across in all the dark books I've ever read. He gives Caleb a run for his $$$$. There is nothing he won't try to do to draw pain from Anna. No way in which he won't attempt to use her. He's essentially signed a deal with the devil (actually how does that really work when I think he is the devil) and revels in finding new ways to torture Anna for her supposed indiscretions. I've been warned so I'm expecting him and his evil machinations to only get worse in the books to come. I wonder if he will continue to find ways to drug Alex and manipulate situations to tear Anna and Alex apart. Or maybe this last bonding ceremony with the Immortals negates that??? I hate how much control (especially mentally) he has over her. It truly sickens me to read it.

Ian: whoever thought that this dude would turn into a quasi-ally for Anna? I loved him every time he tried to warn or prepare her for what plan was to come from Devin.

Alex: see how I saved the best for last? I love love love me some Alex. I want his goodness to triumph over all but I'm guessing I'm going to have to wait for 3 more books huh? His love and devotion to Anna is incredible. The sacrifices he's willing to make just prove how much he feels for her and wants to protect her. Even to the point of encouraging his best friend to pursue her despite how much he intends to have her for himself. I love that he didn't want to pressure her to give herself to him under the slave/master relationship, but to come to him and care for him as a woman to a man. I just cannot express enough how much I love this character and am glad there is at least one really good guy in this series. He's a great hero and he deserves his HEA.

Please note that this book made me experience several emotions. I laughed, cringed, shivered in disgust, blinked my eyes in repulsion, scratched my head in confusion, and abso-fu*king-lutely cried in chapter 61. Be warned!!

Holy shit. Entwined is far from the best book I’ve ever read, but I don't know if I've been so affected by a book in a long time. This is one dark and twisted mind fuck of a series. The Life of Anna is so much different than any other dark erotica series I have read. In this installment we find Anna still at the mercy of Devin, but now she is also bonded to Alex. However, there is not much Alex can do to help her. Anna’s situation continues down a spiral of abuse, manipulation, and degradation.

Poor Anna. How much torture can this girl take, not only physically but mentally and emotionally? Devin’s depravity knows no limits. He is one sick fuck. It amazes me that Anna continues to remain loyal to him after so many rough encounters, none of which were deserved or even justifiable. She should resent him, but she still sees herself as merely an object for men’s pleasure and therefore deserving of the brutality she is subjected to. It’s just sick.

Also, Alex is not doing a great job of convincing her otherwise. I know that Devin has the whole mind control thing going for him, but eventually Anna has to break and see him for what he truly is. I don’t know how much more of this I can take, and there are still three books left in the series.

It is a little annoying how flippant Anna can be. One minute she loves Devin or Alex and the next she hates them. This is understandable since Devin is a master of manipulation, but how naïve can Anna be? Then, you add Aaron and Nate and Tommy and anyone else who will give her the time of day to the long list of men she’s falling in love with. It also pisses me off that Alex is out of the picture. I know that he is working to break Anna’s connection with Devin, but she needs him!

I am desperately hoping for an HEA, preferably one involving Alex. I foresee it getting worse before it gets better though. Extremely dark read. Four stars.

Where do I begin. I continue to walk Anna's journey with her. When I read the words, it is if I am living every scene/situation. Anna has two masters: Devin and Alex. Alex is the light to the darkness Devin brings to her world. She feels safe with Alex but has endured the evilness of Devin for so long she doesn't believe herself to be worthy of a life other than a slave. I have to admit, Devin has done serious damage to her psyche. They all belong to this secret world that operates within our society. Anna's official title is Elder-Mistress which would lead one to believe she is someone special, and she is too many but not to herself or Devin (only sees her as a means to get what he wants). She has not lived a life of a normal 20 year old which breaks my heart every few chapters because she is so naïve to the world we live. She expects and accepts cruelty because she doesn't know anything else but yearns to be loved and adored.

The author has done well weaving the various characters in the story and making the reader love or hate them, where appropriate. I hope to see Anna grow into her true title more books are released.

First let me put the WARNING out here! Please read the WARNING and don't read Entwined if there is anything in the WARNING you don't like. Marissa Honeycutt has a huge WARNING about the contents of this book! So you get that you need to read the WARNING! But, if you are like me warnings are like flags that draws me into buying the book! Second, you really need to read The Life Of Anna Enslaved first!

Wow! Marissa you have done it again! This book is definitely not for the faint of heart! I loved Entwined. Devin is truly an evil person and the mind games he plays. I don't remember the Life of Anna Enslaved as being a paranormal but, it has evolved into one. They did talk about the Elders and Elder sons in Life of Anna Enslaved. Now we learn that Anna is an Elder-Mistress and is half human & half immortal. There are a lot of twists and turns in the plot and every time I thought I got it something else happened to change the outcome. This is a long book over 500 pages but, worth every page turned.

This ARC was received for an honest review.

In Enslaved, Anna was taken, grossly beaten and horribly abused and made into a Mistress Elder. What should have been a title of respect in my opinion has left Anna as nothing more than a cum depositor. Oooh I got so angry throughout this book, please for the record allow me five minutes with Devin. Armed with a baseball bat I guarantee that soulless bastard will never father children again. He's sick, demented and like any rabid dog needs put down.

As the brotherhood changes so does Devin's quest for power. Caught in the crossfire Anna is a puppet on a string, the rapes and torture intensify. Alex might be her only chance, a white knight in shinning armor, but he's no hero!

This is a really great series. Please read authors warning in synopsis before you read this story. Warnings like this is like a red rag to a bull to me. I just had to read it.

This is a really dark erotica that's gonna mess with your head. This is a continuation of Anna's story.

The storyline is fantastic. It's a brilliant gripping read with twists and turns that nearly gave me whiplash.
Looking forward to reading more of this series.

Wow, I just finished book two in The Life of Anna series, titled Entwined and I am not even sure where to begin with this review. I can’t give you a description of the book, because it would seriously spoil the plot for you. I can tell you I am so emotionally torn right now that I don’t even know what I am thinking about where this story is going.

Let me start on the easiest thing that my mind was able to reconcile regarding this book. There is a point early in this installment you get a sense of a paranormal theme beginning to emerge. Now I am not a paranormal fan so I was instantly disappointed thinking I had invested so much of my attention and heart in a series I might not be able to finish. I can’t say what the author intended the readers to grasp with this element, but I never felt it crossed the paranormal line that made me want to stop. The elements deal with those who can’t die, rituals of a time that we don’t understand and concepts that differ among the different brotherhoods in other countries, but all was explained in ways I was able to understand and enjoy, well enjoy might be stretching it, but it added to the overall plot and it became important to the story.

Which leads me to my next mind warping event in this book, the amount of sex vastly increases in this book. Many times I was thinking Oh God not again, page after page of this abuse, rough, tender, death-defying, and murderous sex. It wasn’t long after a scene I was then brought to realize, it was once again vital to this story. It wasn’t written to read like erotic reading, it was written to show the mind control Devin had over Anna and the healing power she had which is due to the “paranormal” elements I spoke of earlier. It also was done like this to show the amount of evil that has to be overcome if Anna is to ever find happiness. More importantly, it gave us a chance to see Anna’s mind shifting from being a sex slave to an independent thinker and break the reader’s heart while she was punished for thinking and feeling. The way the author is unraveling Anna’s brain in front of the reader is fabulous. So many times I wanted to just put the book down because it was too intense, too dark and graphic but I couldn’t because the author had me involved from book one. I was hopelessly invested in this story and no matter how dark the path got, I had to finish it.

Devin is showing just how far he will go in this book to gain the power he so desires. Anna is nothing more than a tool for him to use while Alex’s love for her is growing strong. I point this part of the story out so you will understand the next mind warping situation that I am still twirling around in my head. Evil appears so powerful in this book, it has complete control. The situation Anna and Alex are faced with seems to be something so difficult to conquer; even I wonder why they don’t give up. Alex will be forced to do the unthinkable in this book; even though he tries to keep her protected he will soon see that Devin is a bigger force than even he was aware of. Anna, she balances between giving up and continuing to fight. How she does that is through acceptance, which is what Devin wants, but what Alex is going to have to break in her, if he can ever set her free. The three dynamics of good, evil and victim have all had to maintain a balance in this story. One must outweigh the other two at all times, but to keep the hope alive in the reader is something that I have found brilliant in this series.

Once again, don’t go into this series if you are not prepared to be haunted with images of violence, abuse and evil at the highest levels. I pride myself on being able to read the harshest stories out there and not be affected by the story. This one has ripped my heart out, twisted my mind to the point I want to quit but can’t and has left me haunted in the middle of the night as I think about it. The way the author tells the story leaves you feeling the panic and desire to run, yet you find you are held captive by the characters.

*ALL THE TRIGGER WARNINGS*

I thought I was prepared for this, having read the first in the series. I was so very, very wrong.

This goes to dark places that I never even knew existed.

The first part of this book is hopeful. It is like light is spilling through a tiny crack in the doorway of Anna's life, and I know I shouldn't have been hopeful for her, but I was. She found out what she was, how important she was, and Alex tried to show her how precious she is to him, but having known nothing else in her life, she can't see her own worth.

"Anna reminded herself of her place around men, She was a sexual object to be used. Nothing more. Nothing less."

We find out a little more about the Brotherhood in this, and more about Anna's origins, but there is still a massive air of mystery about everything that is happening. And while I do want to find out what the bigger picture is here, I don't know if I can take much more, to find out the answers.

"It had been too good to be true. She wan't meant for happiness. She was a slave. She had no right to expect anything other than to be used for men's pleasure."

I knew Devin was a bad man after reading the first book. But I was in tears and nearly threw up at some of the punishments he gave to Anna. I don't think I have read a more disgusting character, ever.

"She knew he had raped her. Or at least had very painful sex with her, which most people, she guessed, would consider rape. For her, it was the norm. There was sex that didn't hurt so bad, and sex that hurt."

Alex. The gentle giant. And Anna's second Master. To every shade of Devin's darkness, he was a spark of light for Anna. But even he brutalizes her, under the influence of drugs that he is slipped from Devin. No wonder Anna feels so alone, she has no one to turn to, no one to trust completely, everywhere she turns she is betrayed, used and abused.

"Anna was beautiful, yes, and breathtaking: no one could deny that. The innocence mixed with fear in those beautiful green eyes made the protective lion inside his chest want to steal her away and shelter her from all the evil in the world."

To be honest, compared to the first book, this seemed very long and dragged out. And there was so much sex in this, I tuned out a lot of it, it was the only way to get through it. I had a bit of a hard time keeping track of all the men in Anna's life, it seemed like any male character, supposed nice guy or not, ended up using her for nothing more than her body.

"Once again, she was reminded that happiness wasn't for her. She was meant to be used by men and that was that. Love was something she would never experience."

I am an eternal optimist. I am holding out hope that Anna will one day realize just how powerful and important she is, and watching her come into her own will be a wondrous thing to behold. There is a long, heartbreaking way before we get there though and I just don't know if I can go much further down this rabbit hole, without fearing for my own soul.

This is a truly disturbing, disgusting, depraved story, but I have not read anything as compelling, that has affected me and made me feel for the characters this much, in a long time, and for that, I applaud Ms. Honeycutt.

This book hurts like a kick in the guts. Read with caution.

3.5 Stars.

Anna has two masters now. Okay. I’m okay with that. I won’t talk much about Alex. All I want to say is, he is the prefect man for Anna. The best of all.

Aaron, he is not an important character in the first book but he appeared a lot in the second book. Here is my thought, if he is the pure human. I mean, no things like Elder, Elder-Son or whatever name they have, why could he want to spend any time with Anna? You got me what I’m saying?

Because. Anna is lunatic. Duh. She is not. But, she have painful sex and she didn’t feel angry for Devin because made it like so for her. I don’t know any word better than that. I could think Anna is emotionless because she is not mad but she could loves Aaron. Why. In. The. Hell. She. Is. Not. Mad.

Okay, she maybe accept her some sort of fate. Whatever. But, she knew Devin. Why could she loves someone as evil as Devin? Having painful sex pleases Devin? Yeap. Maybe she should tell Devin to have someone fuck him like that and see if he likes that.

She couldn’t say it, of course. I could accept that.

But.

She is not crazy and not emotionless. She could clearly feel upset when she broke up with Aaron and she obviously loves Aaron. She is not a robot. She is Half-Immortal with a heart. I don’t know if Half-Immortal doesn’t have brain. If Devin is sooooooo powerful, why he couldn’t change some rules for the Elder to stop hurting Anna? You get the point? Anna should think that. Devin is the Chairman, he killed her, he cured her. It doesn’t matter because how much time does Anna really need to get killed by Devin so that he could get what he wants?

Anna should think that maybe Devin doesn’t love her, not at all because he should forget some of his stupid ambition because he loves her and she is hurting. Devin is selfish prick, how could someone loves him? He is just too ambitious and he needs to use Anna to get those. OMG, could you see it? He is NOTHING, without her. Why am I the only one who see it? Anna should see it, she still have brain, right? I don’t know if Devin might take out her brain, I won’t get surprised either. He is that sick.

If he could controls Anna’s mind, why he can’t control her to make her hates Alex purely? He can’t. Okay. Maybe because Alex is her master so he can’t do that. But, why can’t Devin controls Anna’s mind to forget about New York? She is clearly devastated about that and she is mad, she is upset. I don’t know how much time or what kind of evil that Devin need to committed to make Anna realises that Devin is just a piece of shit.

She could be owed to Jack and Devin because they took care of her when she is young but does Anna really want to live in that way? Why in the world she never thought of being dead is better somehow living that life. She lives everyday in agony.

Recap: A lot of disturbing aspect. Very very very dark. 5 stars to the dark incidents by the way.
Ratings: 2 for each.

p/s: I love the third and fourth book crazily by the way.

Hm... How do I start this?

Wells, first off...

description

As the meme said. Its just not happening. I LOVE dark books. The darkness in this book is not what turned me off from it. Trust me. I think it was the fact this book lacked any essence. Anna (from my perspective) was just a depository for sperm. In fact how easy she was eventually started to bore me, I stopped reading for like 2 days.

description

My exact face every time she slept with someone new. I get she couldn't say no, but what was the point of the seductive "powers" if she never used them? She couldn't be that dense. Really. I may have MAYBE given her SOMEWHAT of a chance if she would have fought back at some point. But nope.

Devin and Alex's arguments were probably one of my biggest annoyances. I mean my lord. They sounded like an old married couple, forreal. And every time Devin (I'm trying not to give out spoilers, so if I'm vague thats why) did something bad to Alex, it was just blown over like it didn't happen? Not sure I understood that.

I will say the only half of the story I did enjoy was about 80% into the book. When the reasons and explanations began to reveal themselves a bit more. At that point it didn't all just seem like mindless sex. The story came back together. In my opinion most of the book was about kinky & vile fucking and to make it a "story" the author added in this paranormal theme. Not saying others wont enjoy this book! It just wasn't my cup of tea. Also not saying the author isn't a talented writer or won't have other books i'll enjoy.
