I am in the world. Everything imprisons me.
Humans subjugate the world. They structure, they fix things in place. They impose their order and end up believing that this order is that of nature.
In our civilisation, the purpose of the norm is economic. Heterosexuality, for example, which forms the core of the normal family unit, contains women, and these women are urged to produce new children whom they raise for free according to social norms. They generally do the housework and ensure the normality of the home, which constitutes one of the pillars of the economic order.
‘Herodotus doesn’t say why or hence, or since or because. He offers no explanation. And this story was commented on by Montaigne, by Benjamin, by others. It has spanned millennia. And the millennia were spanned by silence and words. Silence and words spanned the millenia—Animals cry out whereas humans speak—The generative capacities of language are limitless. Since they have no purpose, what is their goal?’
‘I don’t see why people like me. The girls at the bar like me,—they appreciate me—Why me? There are a lot of people—I don’t see why anyone would like me—When I get attention it’s like I was taking it away from someone else. And I take it because I have things to say and they’re important.’
