The long awaited sequel to Throne of Novoxos!

With the stakes even higher, the couple's burgeoning relationship is put to the ultimate test when Lord Comron Van Laven embarks on a deadly path of retribution and conquest...

Forced to keep their marriage under wraps, Comron and Vaush find themselves in an impossible situation -- as the newly enthroned Empress, Vaush must form a marriage alliance with one of the Great Houses lest the empire be plunged into a bloody civil war. Armed with new gifts of the Murkudahl, Comron moves deftly behind the scene to bring the Great Houses to their knees by whatever means necessary, even while he's forced to watch as Vaush is courted by the handsome princes of the realm.

Unbeknownst to the Great Houses, the impending Murkudahl Kurukaii invasion threatens their very existence. To combat this threat, Comron and Vaush secretly build a lethal army of super soldiers and technologically advanced weapons systems. But will Comron keep his promise to only use this super army against the Kurukaii or will he set them loose on the Great Houses to avenge Nethic and to finally claim Empress Vaush for himself?

Planetary Royalty
So much more than just a great romance this sequel to Throne of Novoxos is a book like no other; the author has cleverly intertwined Victorian era titles and clothing into a futuristic advanced alien society. Royal Highness, Empress Vaush Hrollaugr, is a powerful highly skilled combatant that was trained by a master in both weapons and warfare tactics. This royal empress is also a master of manipulation and seduction which are skills reserved for selected targets of control that lead to personal gain, power, and money. I appreciated this very intelligent, confident, Laura Croft like character. We need more powerful female role models like Empress Vaush. This very busy and complex cast of characters took me to a far away planet inhabited by a highly intelligent society of people with technical advancement and knowledge in telepathy and biomechanics. This modern society is governed by an ancient monarchy structure of royalty and entitlement, but yet it is a futuristic story that becomes even more impressive as other worlds are unveiled. One of my favorites was the Sellusions, an alien, otherworldly highly advanced society of beings that possess the skin of telepathy, healing, surveling, and the ability to record every detail of its existence. This unnerving ability is a sword that cuts both ways as questionable characters are exposed. Making for a very intriguing story as the Pandoran box of mystery is opened. I enjoyed the diverse cast of bizarre characters and their roles in this incredibly imaginative story. The author's mastery of descriptive language is quite evident as I began to see, taste, and smell a real otherworldly place and time. The complex style of writing and choreography that pulled this cast of characters and alien worlds together was masterfully done.

This is a brilliant book. The story is captivating and the characters are all so complicated that you can never predict what their next action will be.
It is the type of read that will keep you glued to the pages. While reading, I found myself wondering how the heroes would react to the situations they got themselves into and if they would make the right decision.
Tyler Chase’s writing style is exceptional with rich vocabulary and uniquely woven sentences.
The actions scenes are described in detail, every action fan will love them.
What I personally found interesting is that despite “Shadow Reign” is a science fiction book, it could also be read as a fantasy one. It’s not only about weird gadgets and spaceships, it’s also about crowns and blades.
“Shadow Reign” is book 2 in the Van Laven series, and sequel to Throne of Novoxos. It’s not hard to follow if you haven’t read the first book but it will leave yearning for the next book in the series.

Vaush has successfully been installed as the empress, and Comron could not be more proud, even if they still have to keep their relationship under wraps for now. He is frantically trying to economically bolster the image of his own House, Nethic, so that Vaush won’t have to pretend to court other houses for a marriage of convenience, and so far he has done a bang up job as her financial guru. But can Comron continue to hide his newfound gifts of the Murkdahl and use them for the common good, rather than the revenge he so desperately wants to enact? And can they put that aside to address the bigger threat of the Kurukaii?

Book 2 in the Van Laven Chronicles, Shadow Reign is the highly anticipated sequel to the Throne of Novoxos, and it delivers a fantastic continuation of the story. I loved the character development of Comron and Vaush, and honestly I loved some of the economic underpinnings and explanation of the universe they inhabit (spoiler alert, I’m a giant nerd and married to an economist.) I feel like the characters themselves were humanized distinctly in this book, and flaws were apparent and exploited. I am interested to see how the next in the series plays out, and if they can put petty local politics aside to focus on a greater threat, which we all know doesn’t often happen in the real world. Chase’s writing is spot on and moves quickly, and quite succinctly summarizes necessary but potentially dull information (yes, I get that not everyone wants to know the nitty gritty of geopolitical economics. You should, but you don’t.) Enjoy the read!

Drop Everything & Read This-
Great story that doesn't disappoint. I've read the second book and can't wait for the third. Total alpha male with the right amount of angst. Fierce chemistry and page turning action. Same review given for books 1 and 2.

Shadow Reign is fantastic! I loved the adventure and intrigue. The author keeps the story moving along really well and I never experienced a dull moment. The struggles Vaush and Comron go through with others, and with themselves pulled me in and kept me reading non-stop for a couple of hours at a time. Tyler Chase is responsible for keeping me up past my bed time at least a couple of times! Lots of great story that I don't want to give away - you'll love it! You can't go wrong picking up these books!

I didn't pay attention and started the series out of order. I read this book first. After reading Shadow Reign, I'll definitely go back and pick up the first book! I was able to follow Shadow Reign pretty well without having read the first book, but I plan on buying THRONE OF NOVOXOS and then rereading Shadow Reign ... I think it'll help me make sense of a couple of points I read.

The strategist

This is the second book of the Van Laven Chronicles, a continuing storyline that began in Book One, Throne of Novoxos. Comron Van Laven is the financial advisor and secret husband of the Empress Vaush Hrollaugr. She has been in power for nearly a year, but circumstances have prevented them from announcing their true relationship. This book follows the couple as they work to break up the old financial alliance system and to set up a new one that will truly benefit the empire. They believe they have prepared for pushback from the old guard, but then the dominoes begin to fall.
This is a great Kindle Unlimited library read. I am looking forward to the final book, which is due out in December.

It keeps you on edge and it will not let you down for all you could ever want in an action, mystery, love, hero, madman and love story with no bounds are all wrapped up in this single storyline. Comron and Vaush are beyond being linked and unbreakable. You cannot stop them and the undying true love they have will not be taken away by no one because they will destroy all those that attempted to bring them down.
